Hello everyone! I have an APPLE Question..... Is it safe to use apple conditioner on my Expresso Sabrina? Also, do you recommend the Rain guard as well? Please help! Thank you!!!

So glad this thread is here..maybe we should make it a sticky? Or is there already a sticky that would cover this??

My questions are:

1)I want to spray/condition my patchwork bleeker. There are some suede patches. I know not to condition those, but when I spray the protectant should I cover up any other patches, or just spray the entire thing?Oh, and does the Wilson's spray work on suede?

2)A waiter spilled some H20 on my NEW plum Carly!! Urg. I wiped it up w/a napkin, but it looks now like I have streaks and a spot or two. There was lemon in the water, but I hadn't squeezed it in yet. Should I just use the Apple conditioner and hope it comes out?

3)Green Pixie, where do you get the Wilson's spray?

Thanks so much for your replies!!

CCforC - Not only is it okay to spray the suede patches, I would very much recommend you use it on the suede - untreated suede can get VERY dirty VERY quicky, esp. if it is light. Try the conditioner on your Carly - it helps with water spots on many leathers. I get the Wilson's protectant at Wilson's Leather stores, but I think they may be going out of business so I am not sure what I will do! I did not see it on their website but they always seem to have it in stores. Otherwise Apple Rain and Stain, Shining Monkey, or Lexol products are highly recommended by PFers as well.

Bouncin, try searching in the deals and steals section for current coupons codes. I do not think it will darken your bag - it has never changed the color of any of my bags, but be sure to start sparingly and evenly when you condition.

Good luck!

I finally got some Apple Care and appled up my Whiskey Shoulder Bag... how long should I let her dry before putting another coat on? She was really really dry and drank that stuff up.

ETA: She looks really really dark too... is that normal? Did I ruin my bag? :crybaby:

I'm bumping this up since BDP didn't get a reply yet and I also have a question.

I have a metallic pleated ergo hobo. I've done searches and read that the apple spray rain guard works well on metallic bags, but do I need to condition it first with the apple care conditioner or just use the spray directly?

Bea, for a metallic bag I would just spray it and not worry about conditioner. The metallic finish is a coating on the leather anyway so I am not sure how much conditioner would get into the leather.

BDP, my whiskey shoulder bag darkened a bit as well but it gradually lightened back up as it dried.

Hmmm I might be nervous about rubbing conditioner on to a metallic bag, since it's a finish on top of the leather that has a tendency to come off? The corners on my metallic slim Carly have some rubbing off of the finish and I've babied her too.
I'd personally feel much more comfortable just spraying it!

^^I use a microfiber dish towel--mine are made by Pampered Chef, but you can get them anywhere. Super soft! Although I would assume you can just rub in in by hand, I never really considered that.

I use rags that I bought from the local discount hardware store that are made up of what seems to be old cut up t-shirts. It's definitely t-shirt material. Very soft and gentle, and perfect for using moisturizer. At Coach we use the same type of rags. They're extremely inexpensive, even more so if you have an old t-shirt you don't need anymore ;)
