Anything or everything about De Beers

It may have but that unfortunately does not repair their past.

It's at least worth noting when a company does take action to repair past bad practices. High-profile brands with many fans on this forum have awful things in their pasts. And current environmental and social practices don't look so hot for products we consume every day.

I was mainly trying to say the ring I know of a person close to me is beautiful. The ethics questions can be easily researched, should OP wish to.

Politics aside, I really like some of their designs. When we were looking for an e-ring, De Beers was one of the places we went to. They are overpriced but so is HW, Tiffany, Cartier and Birks (big chain store here). In the end, we purchased a stone through a trusted jeweler and had it custom designed.

Find a trusted jeweler and have your ring custom made. The money you save on paying just for brand name can be used towards a high quality stone.

Yes Mimster, that's my other alternative. I can probably get a 2.3 ct instead of a 2.0 with the same quality if I buy a GIA stone from a trusted jeweler instead of a name brand, than I am comtemplating whether I should get the Vatche Swan, or the Vatche Swan with micropave, or the Varna Flora setting. Some many options, so hard to choose.

Yes, I kinda agree that many high end companies have had its flaws one way or another throughout history so it is a good thing that De beers is taking corrective measures. Thanks ladies for all of your comments! Everyone has been extremely helpful :yahoo:

Might wanna read my threads before you get a Vatche. lol

I know many who had nothing short of perfection with their experiences but...holy wow did I not fall into that category!

Thanks Ame, please link your thread. Are you talking about the jeweler who took off the Vatche mark by accident or was there another incident with Vatche?
