Anyone tired of LV...

I’m not sure why “Asian market” is being thrown into this, but whatever.

I would consider all the new styles as targeting the younger generation, so people my age and younger. I don’t like some of the items because they remind me too much of the bags that existed in early to mid 2000s, when fashion had a very questionable era.

LV has also moved in the direction of having less styles, but producing them in various materials in collectible colors and designs. It’s the Chanel and Hermes approach, if you ask me.

I still like LV. I think they tend to have fun with their accesories, which I appreciate. Things sometimes end up looking super trendy and/or tacky, but that’s what makes it interesting to keep up with. I don’t buy a seasonal item every year, but I like to watch every fashion show.

Maybe OP thinks some collection are Asia exclusive? I agree with you, more and more pieces seem to target younger clientele. Fun and bright colors

I’ve always thought LV was overhyped back in the day and said I would never buy LV because it seemed basic because everyone has an LV bag.

Yeah… that was until a few months ago I bought a Petite Malle and have been adding more and more LV bags and SLGs to my collection. I see the hype or maybe it’s just the dopamine hit I get when I open the packages up.

There’s some discontinued vintage pieces I want but like some people say, it is so over saturated and the many fakes floating around just gives me a fear of buying pre loved items and it being fake

I am not tired of LV, but I agree that most of the newer collections are not my cup of tea :hrmm:. I think it is always interesting to see what they come up with next. They are a lot more experimental than they used to be in the past and surely the crazier items do not appeal to the luxury mass market. I also think LV has become some sort of Luxury fast fashion brand. You can hardly catch up with all the new releases .
I have been venturing out to other brands much more lately for more elegant classic pieces, but I would not abandon LV entirely. They still bring out a lot of fun items.

Feeling exactly the same as this! I adored late 2000s/early 2010s LV, then I lost interest in the brand for a while and have only come back to it recently but there's much less that stands out to me as something I could really love. Plus some of the prices seem pretty insane to me (looking at you, capucines!) I agree that there is an emphasis on the younger demographic (of which I am a part of). But maybe I'm something of an outlier because I'm not interested in trends, I want modern classics that even when discontinued, are still going to have that 'classic' look about them. Maybe it's because I inherited my Mom's LV collection which still looks fantastic, I want bags that will last. Now I find myself drawn to Saint Laurent, Celine, Chanel (albeit increasingly less since those price increases). LV seems like it's more focused on targeting Gen-Zs who want fun, trendy pieces and that's just not my thing. That said, for nostalgia's sake, I'll definitely continue checking out the new collections in the hope that something catches my eye.

I’m new to LV so I am not at the point that you are at but I can definitely understand someone who has been purchasing for a long time might be tired of it. I’m at LV purse peace for now with the classics I have. I would possibly get another Epi leather piece and an empreinte piece at some point but I don’t have a lengthy wishlist like I do with YSL. I’m in love with so many YSL pieces bc the edgy yet classic style is very me while I love LV for the practicality of their bags and just how timeless it will always be. The LV pieces I have I will pass down to my daughter if she likes them (she’s still growing in my belly at the moment haha! Not sure if she will be into handbags or not lol) I’m not sure where YSL will go as a brand - their style is also pretty timeless but not sure if they are as “heirloom” if you know what I mean.

I guess consider it a break for your wallet and keep an open mind if they come around with new styles in the future. It can also be a fun time to explore other brands. Are there any others on your wishlist or you are curious about?

Well, I just bought an lv bag for the first time in many years so I would say no . But I also hate the brown canvas (gasp I know, heresy) so it makes me happy to see the brand branch out from that. I wish there was more variety in other materials, in fact. I will often see a bag shape from them that I like but it is only offered in monogram or DE and that is a no for me.

Not yet. I dont like Most of the recent designs but once in a while LV produced something that suits me. And they always have many varieties that are completely different to one another, unlike Chanel or Dior who keep releasing the same flap bags, lady dior and saddle bags with different colour or prints (sorry chanel and dior fans ). Gucci is also kind of fun/daring but many of their bags are not practical for me.

Maybe! Think OP should have definitely clarified, ‘cause there are many ways to interpret that statement, and OP didn’t seem too happy, with whatever their reasoning is.

I wish there was more emphasis on coming up with new designs, instead of producing new colors for items that are cash cows for them. How about making a new item in a fun color?

I think there's a lifecycle to buying LV, but I don't understand the hate it receives towards the end. There's a fascination to it, the first LV purchase, awareness of the new seasons/items, building a collection, then finally a point where one's collection is in a good place. I'm about towards the end after 20 years of collecting. There are certain thoughts I have where I can be a bit forlorn about it, like looking at new pieces that are higher in price that don't appeal to me anywhere near as much as pieces in my collection that I've taken with me while creating memories.

In the end though, I'm grateful for the collection I have and revel in reading tPF where everyone is in a different stage of that cycle and appreciate others' zeal.
