Anyone tired of LV...

I wish! I agree with a lot of the comments here, especially regarding the insane prices which has definitely cooled my jets too but I have to say that I’ll always be a LV girl. No other fashion house captures my eye and my heart in the same way (although I do also like Prada for its edgier look). Since my trip to Paris in 2016 I’ve collected a few classic LV pieces each year and I love all of them! I don’t usually get caught up in the latest trends and gravitate more toward classic pieces I can use for decades. Somehow I manage to find them in the midst of the fast fashion that’s put out. In the last two years alone, I’ve been super happy to add the PSM (I admit I was late to that bandwagon), Boulogne, Graceful PM, garden nano bucket, and Speedy 20 all of which are “newer” releases but still have that classic vibe. As I stalk my email for the shipping notice of my 2 Kusama SLGs, I have to kindly disagree, although my wallet wishes I was ready for an LV break.;)

I agree with this. LV either puts out childish looking trendy items that are not classics, or they do one pattern in the same few styles (speedy, onthego, pochette, Sarah wallet, victorine wallet). I'm actually excited about a few teases of the new lines coming this spring but the last thing I need is another speedy or victorine wallet. Why won't they give us classy, elegant, well constructed, luxury handbag that works in our lifestyles and wardrobes? And I am not a fan of guitar straps - wish they would give us bags that don't have these trendy guitar straps.
Totally agree, tired of all these Speedys, Neverfulls, Almas etc. Boring like it never was before....

I love Hawaii, especially Maui and I try to make it over once a year. Before my trip I scout the LV site and TPF to see if there's anything I want to buy. It's 10% cheaper for me to purchase in Hawaii. My state currently does not have a sales tax, so if I have the bag shipped, I save the entire 10%.
We have 9% sales tax, so I would save a ton, but I'm not in the market at the moment. I buy mostly in France as it is still less expensive, but as I've said before sometimes the flop sweat of going through US customs with over your limit be it an individual/couple/family of 10 is not worth it, so buying in HI is a good idea.

Don’t we all love a polarizing topic

I wouldn’t say tired… I didn’t purchase LV bags for almost 10 years (for various reasons), but the Kusama Collection brought me back and I indulged! It’s these artistic/quirky collections that Louis Vuitton does, that keeps me as a fan. I love that the brand doesn’t feel so stiff and stuffy all the time. And I love the various price points the House offers, so there’s always something for someone.

Being tired of luxury seems to be the current trend. Especially with brands out pricing themselves (hint, they don’t care) and the uncertainty of the US economy looming. To some, spending two $2-$3000 on canvas is ridiculous given the disparity.

But addressing the design standpoint of being tired of the brand, I wish they would slow down! Like seriously, every collection is done in two parts now. With almost 20+ options in each one. It’s kind of watering down the brand. And quite frankly causing fatigue. For me, being away from the brand so long, and seeing how many bags were discontinued… I see some things on a secondhand market and I am lost! I wish they would focus more on quality, designs that will stick around for at least five years. Like give me the next iconic bag. Not that bumbag that isn’t a bumbag!

I love classic LV. I love vachetta. I love Monogram (small only - no giant for me)! Anything animated and most collaborations do absolutely nothing for me. I guess I’m boring.

LV was the beginning of my luxury interest and there are elements that I will always love about the brand. However, I am moving farther and farther away from logos in my taste these days.

I am now down to 4 LV bags — plus the PS Mini which I am gifting to my daughter for her 22nd birthday soon — from a collection that vacillated from 8-10 LV bags at any given time. Which isn’t alot for some people, but it was for me as I own bags from other brands as well.

The carefree, fun, durable nature of LV bags will mean there is always something for everyone.

This is an interesting topic! Personally, I’m a bit conflicted. I’m very new to LV (purchased my first LV bag last year; and my first monogram LV bag just last month!), but not new to luxury.

For me, I’ve always felt like the monogram is a bit loud, and I also hate the fact that it is so widely counterfeited and some styles are just everywhere, like the Neverfull and Speedy.

I do like a decent amount of their silhouettes and bag styles, so I’m slowly adding a few pieces to my collection, but older and vintage styles catch my attention more these days.

I think it will be interesting to see how LV fares as “quiet luxury” or “stealth wealth” is rapidly becoming one of the most important trends of 2023, with a lot of people ditching logo-heavy styles for more under-the-radar pieces.

I think the brand will do fine overall, as there are still plenty of people who gravitate toward the recognition/status symbol that their monogram represents, and I think it resonates with a lot of younger and new-to-luxury shoppers. But it will be interesting to see if LV scales back their monogram canvas pieces in favor of more empreinte and epi pieces; I believe there have already been rumors of them doing this. I guess only time will tell!

I agree with much of this, but am conflicted on the canvas. I feel that it is such a mainstay of the House and would hate to see it go away. Canvas is so great on slgs as well. And this is coming from someone who used to really dislike Monogram canvas.

I agree; I’m conflicted on the canvas as well, haha! I also used to very strongly dislike it, but it is growing on me; I purchased my first monogram canvas piece last month and have another one on my wishlist.

I also think that there are certain LV bags that just look better in the monogram canvas than their leather counterparts, and I’m also trying to buy less leather these days. While I will always love the quality and feel of a supple leather bag, I just don’t feel great about purchasing brand new leather anymore, from an ethical standpoint. So I do really appreciate that LV has so many canvas options, and I’m curious to see how my pieces hold up over time.

I don’t think I will ever be completely “done” with any of the brands I like, although I will take breaks from them. Chanel used to be my favorite, but I haven’t bought a CC bag in 2.5 years now! I’m not entirely over them, but nothing recently has been resonating with me, and in general I’m trying to be more mindful with my luxury purchases. How many bags does a girl really need? :giggle: I’m in my early 30’s, but I find the older I get, the less stuff I want to own, which for me, I think, is a good thing.

I share a lot of your sentiments @OCMomof3  You are so blessed to have a daughter:heart:. I have 2 sons, so either their wives gets my bags (assuming they marry lol) or they will sell them gift them when I'm gone.

I love all the LV items that I currently have, but am not interested in buying anything more in the near future. Nothing has wowed me enough to buy it lately. And with all the PI’s over the last couple years I need to really love it to buy it. And it needs to be something I don’t already have something similar to already. I’ve actually been in the slimming down my collection mode lately. I feel like my overall bag collection is pretty complete (and then some) and have moved onto fine jewelry.

Not at all. I love the classics and designs from the MJ aera best though. I haven‘t bought much LV the past ten years except for late limited editions (I love Murakami, Sprouse etc.), because the newer bag designs were totally not my taste. The Kusama collab is the first collab I bought from the store again.
But I don‘t mind that I don‘t like much there. Saves me money and occasionally they will come out with something I like or I decide to add a classic luggage piece.
Despite also having other brands such as old Celine, old Balenciaga and Loewe, LV makes up the biggest part of my collection and I still love every piece I choose, except for that poor quality of that desintegrating monogram Felicie…

I'm doing the exact same thing!
