not overly, until i seen this beauty! I sooooo wanted to buy it, but i just had my diamond reset into a custom halo setting, and couldn't imagine asking hubby for yet another diamond ring! Lol
I love marquis stone the best by far. DH is going to upgrade my ering either this year or next year. Thought about it and considered getting a more trendy shaped stone. Tried on some different styles and the marquis is really the only one that makes my heart sing. So maybe it's old fashioned, or out of style, I really don't care. It is the one I love and what's funny is that I get compliments on it all the time. I say to each his own and get what you love.
The ring is beautiful! It's just the kind of setting I was thinking of! I want to reset my e ring. been searching for weeks when I came across your post. Do you know if they sell just the settings? Do you have a contact or website I can go to? Thanks. Not overly, until I seen this beauty! I'm not a big fan of marquis solitaires unless they are a bit thick & set east-west. I really like Catherine Zeta Jones' engagement ring - it's a vintage (1920's) 10 carat marquis white diamond set east-west in platinum from Fred Leighton.
I also think that everything depends on how a ring looks on your individual finger - there are cuts or settings I thought I would like that I didn't end up liking once I had them on my finger & vice versa.
I like all diamonds, lol!
Marquise and pear seem the most feminie to me, not really sure why...
Two of my friends (both married in the 90's) have marquise e-rings and they are very pretty.
My e-ring is a marquis and I LOVE its uniqueness.

.39 carat in platinum setting
opps no i was refering to the first one she got from him it was in yellow gold and she hated it so much and was worried that he didn't know her because he didn't know her style. Aiden later got the asscher shape or radiant cut ring and she loved that one
I think they can look amazing set E/W. I also love the look of them in antique style gemstone halos, set N/S (think Fay Cullen-ish). I prefer chubby marquis' over long skinny ones, but that's just personal preference!
Here's one I spotted on PS made by Greenlake Jewelers. SLURP.

Beautiful!!I've seen some pretty marquise rings - only in pics & on TV, though. Here are some photos I grabbed from www.pricescope.com. Sorry, I don't remember owners' names.... Fat ones definitely look prettier than slim ones.
