Anyone still like marquis diamond e-ring?

agree. you should go for the cut you like the most, not what's 'in'.
i think most cuts can work if they have the right setting. the only cuts i really don't like are hearts (IMO they're cutesy and tacky) and radiants. and i almost never like pears but it has more to do with the fact that it's very hard to make a nice setting for a pear.

i like marquise cuts but what i hate is how they're usually set - with those v-shaped prong thingies holding the corners. i hate those little v-shaped corner prongs on any cut diamond.
marquise, like pear cuts, tend to be done in kind of gaudy, dynasty-esque settings. especially pears.
a marquise, done right, can be very beautiful. i also prefer the stone to be rather wide.

I like marquise diamonds--but then, I'm old (52).

I actually heard that they are coming back in style though.

I don't have one (i went with RB) but marquise rings looks good on my hand. ( I have other marquise rings). They really do elongate your fingers. Not if they're set east-west, of course, which is why I personally wouldn't wear that particular style.

I think why marquise got unpopular (besides just have gotten TOO popular--whenever things get too much in style, then they can go out) is that there are really some lousy examples around. there was a while when marquise was adverstised as giving the most 'bang for the buck' because they tend to look bigger for the weight than many other styles of diamonds. But the people buying them were looking for bang for the buck in other ways, too and there are an awful lot of huge but grey and lightless and windowy marquise diamond rings out there. Almost any time I see someone with an over 3 carat ring that looks really bad, it's a marquise. Also of course, geometric styles have been in for the last 8 or 9 years. Everything has been rectangular or square (princess, emerald, asscher). the marquise is all curves--and while you can make even an RB look a LITTLE squarish by setting with four prongs instead of six, you really can't do anything with the curves of a marquise.

But the upside is, that since they haven't been 'in', the nice ones have been cheaper than other diamonds recently.

You should buy what you like.

I like all diamonds, lol!
Marquise and pear seem the most feminie to me, not really sure why...
Two of my friends (both married in the 90's) have marquise e-rings and they are very pretty.

That would be so awesome if marquise comes back in style. I agree with the comment about this shape elongating your finger. I think I like mine so much cause it is in a heavier platinum setting. My round is in a more dainty setting. I also like wearing the marquis with the band made for it on same finger as e-ring.

My e-ring is a marquis and I LOVE its uniqueness.

.39 carat in platinum setting

opps no i was refering to the first one she got from him it was in yellow gold and she hated it so much and was worried that he didn't know her because he didn't know her style. Aiden later got the asscher shape or radiant cut ring and she loved that one

My mother just passed and I now have her approx 1.2 ct beautiful marquise. I love the ring the way it is but her fingers were much larger than mine and since I don't want to severely alter her original ring for sentimental purposes, I'm going to have the diamond set east west in a simple setting as soon as I can figure out the details with a jeweler. I have to run but later I'll explain what I want to do, this is a ring from the 70's and there's and insert involved, so I'll set the original ring with the insert with a birthstone and still have that as a cocktail ring (since it only fits my pointer finger and like I said I don't want to alter the actual ring that fit her finger)..... I'm excited though, it's a pretty stone and I think they are making a nice comeback too!
