Anyone still like marquis diamond e-ring?

I would love to reset my 1.39ct marquis stone east/west. At this time its surrounded by baguettes and small rounds. I would love to have someone design something STUNNING that one would be hard-pressed to see again. Does anyone have any ideas of websites with east/west ideas?:D

Although I don't have one, I think marquis cuts are beautiful and feminine, especially in the traditional settings. And I think that trends in jewelry, while unavoidable, are unfortunate. So many people who loved their rings are led to believe that they are dated or otherwise unstylish, when in fact they are gorgeous. In another 20 years, people will be asking the same thing about halo settings and be getting the same replies.

Like many other posters before me have commented, I also prefer marquise being set east-west. The traditional, vertical setting isn't very pretty to me, but that's just my opinion. Also, I know not all marquise have a ''bow tie'' shadow, but I have seen some that aren't well cut and that bow-tie can really distract from the allure of a marquise for me!

i have never been a fan of a marquis shaped diamond, but that's what's so special about choices. there are so many different cuts of diamonds nowadays, that as long as you like it, that's all that matters.

maybe just frequently change it out with your new one. i do that all the time and it's fun. so who cares if it's not considered "in style" or modern, but as long as you appreciate it, that's that most important thing.

I'm not a big fan of marquis solitaires unless they are a bit thick & set east-west. I really like Catherine Zeta Jones' engagement ring - it's a vintage (1920's) 10 carat marquis white diamond set east-west in platinum from Fred Leighton.

I also think that everything depends on how a ring looks on your individual finger - there are cuts or settings I thought I would like that I didn't end up liking once I had them on my finger & vice versa.

wow. seeing her ring like that definitely makes me think twice about a marquis shape. i guess like anything, it all depends on the setting. yellow gold? not for me.

I think marquis cut is very pretty. I've always thought that engagement ring "trends" were a little bit silly, to be honest.

A beautiful ring that is given from the heart never goes out of style, regardless of the cut of the stone or color of the metal.

what's considered to be "an engagement ring trend?" just curious. sorry for being off topic.

^ Certain diamond shapes become very popular at different times, as does yellow or white gold. In the late 80's/early 90's, very wide yellow gold bands were very popular, both for fashion rings and for engagement rings. Then white metals took over and have been more popular for engagement jewelry ever since. Diamonds set with colored stones were very popular for a while, then three stone rings, and halo settings seem to be all the rage right now. But there are definitely trends in engagement rings just like there are trends in other jewelry.

I think they can look amazing set E/W. I also love the look of them in antique style gemstone halos, set N/S (think Fay Cullen-ish). I prefer chubby marquis' over long skinny ones, but that's just personal preference!

Here's one I spotted on PS made by Greenlake Jewelers. SLURP.

I do enjoy the marquis stone in an e-ring, just not mine. People say that they elongate the finger, but the shape does nothing for my hands! One of my best friends has a marquis diamond wedding ensemble and it is lovely. I think hers is one of the prettiest sets I have seen, but for me, it would look horrible. Setting the stone E-W would be better for me, and when shopping for my ring, I considered it. In fact, the only stone shape I didn't consider was heart-shaped (I am just not a "heart" girl.)

oh, that is gorgeous! see, i never would have guessed at first glance that that was a marquis shaped diamond. exquisite. i guess it just depends on the setting, not the cut.

Not overly, until I seen this beauty! I sooooo wanted to buy it, but I just had my diamond reset into a custom halo setting, and couldn't imagine asking hubby for yet another diamond ring! lol
