Anyone received the Feather Charm?

I asked the SA's at my local FP store tonight, this is what they told me about the feather fob :

What happened is that it was a promo piece to be given out at fashion events, etc. Because every Coach item has a number, it was in the system. Someone must've posted it up somewhere and everyone started ordering, but it was never meant to be sold.

Dunno if that's fully true, but it does seem a fairly good explanation. When did we first start seeing it?

Also, for the person who asked if it comes with the Rhyder 33 Red Suede, I'll let you know tomorrow. I'm driving into San Francisco to take a look at it and possibly buy (still trying to justify that one! :p )

Hmmm, I didn't think to differentiate, I assume same for both, especially with the price point that they had. Certainly not the normal price point for that type of Coach fob. I'll ask the San Fran store when I'm there tomorrow if I think of it!

Am I the only one who thinks Coach knows exactly what it's doing and what it's doing is damn near BRILLIANT!!

It's all about supply and demand. Throw out a couple of carrots, create some buzz, yank the carrots back, create some more buzz. Lather, rinse, repeat.

The most desirable things are usually the one's we're told we can't have.

It is only brilliant if Coach actually ends up selling the feather fobs. If they are not for sale and no one can purchase them I don't see the point.

I am catching up on this thread. I cannot believe that Coach is recalling shipments of these fobs! How crazy can a company be?

I am not sure it's a conspiracy or marketing ploy though. I just think Coach is clueless.

I ordered the $60 fob, and it's pictured in my large crossbody whipstitch reveal. I called jax to place the order at the time and when I ordered it, they were taking orders for either kind of fob.

The fob came in a really nice gift box, that was made just for the fob. The fob was packed MUCH nicer than any other fob I have ever bought from Coach. The packaging could definitely have been gift packaging done as a special promotion. The packaging was very high end and expensive and was much nicer packaging than a $60 fob warranted.

The China Coach site has a banner at the top of the page talking about a fob gift promotion. So maybe they are being given out in Asia? Here is the banner language google translated:

"YOU CAN GET A LIMITED EDITION COLLECTION OF FEATHER ORNAMENTS 9 / 12-10 / 12, THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE NET-PRICE GOODS SPENDING OVER 5000 YUAN, WHILE STOCKS LAST."

Lol, trust that my SA, store manager, and half the workers know me by first name and that I've been expecting this fob for weeks. I'm sure I annoyed the daylight out of them over it.

My $50 was not packaged nicely at all, it wrapped in plastic only!! I don't really care now that I have it. Still waiting to see if I get my $60 one or mine is cancelled like everyone else. Another thing I am so sick of are all the Asian exclusives. They seem to get so many desirable items that are only available there. What is it with Coach marketing that they don't do their research to know that certain items would be big sellers here too

My $60 feather charm shipped today. If it gets here before others post pics, I will post some pics when it arrives. :smile1:

It is a very attractive charm and I believe it is the same one which is included on the Tatum tote I ordered. The feather has tiny gold balls on the tips to accent it. Looks great and I know you will enjoy it.

I know how you feel regarding the exclusives. Although I'm in Asia, my country doesn't really get many exclusives, probably once in a while. Eg. We had the Regular Soft Borough in the mixed Suede and Retro Glove Tan and I was told that it was exclusive.

However, countries like Japan and China have so many exclusives every month, I think!! And some of their bags are lovely but alas, I can't get them. Furthermore, my country does not get all the bags that are featured on the US site. Another eg. The Rhyder in Jade is exclusive and limited here. There were only 6 and thank goodness I was lucky, I got the last one!!

Plus we can't buy Coach bags on any US site coz once they know that we are in Asia, a page appears saying that we can't buy it. One reason is because it is so much cheaper in the States compared to Asia. So we either have to wait until someone flies over to the US for work or a holiday or we wait till Ebay has it. The prices of Coach here is more than twice the amount. Eg. US$75 Hangtag Case that I just got is SG$145. But if I convert the currency directly, US$75 is only SG$95.

Oh yes, another thing I just got invited to a VIP Launch Party for members at my local Coach store. It's on the 23/9 in the evening. I wonder whether I will receive the feather charm coz I never saw any at all except on the small Dakotahs....... And there wasn't anything about free gifts when I bought my bags. I got nothing except my usual 10% VIP discount. : (

Just an FYI for anyone who placed an order and it was cancelled. The charge for my order that I placed on Wednesday still has not been reversed on my credit card. Keep an eye on your account to make sure it gets refunded!

One of my daughter's favorite movies is Devil Wears Prada, so I'm going to quote Miranda ....

frivo, "Are you there yet?" .... That is, are you at the store yet? I woke up this morning with a headcold, but my first thought, literally, was "I hope frivo is on her way to get that fob before anything can happen to it."

That was for the leather or both styles? We got that about the leather, but no confirmation on the metal one too.

And for that matter, which is the style going to Asia, and which is the style sitting in NYC (120 at one store, per dazlinpearl's post?

Or is it a mix? Was anyone able to see any pics of the charm being offered as gift with purchase on the Chinese site?

editing to add:
And nerual wrote: "What happened is that it was a promo piece to be given out at fashion events, etc. Because every Coach item has a number, it was in the system. Someone must've posted it up somewhere and everyone started ordering, but it was never meant to be sold. "

And if that really is the case, that they really never did plan to sell it, then I'm back to my initial guess of "placeholder in a required field" for the chosen prices. I'm sorry, but I just still cannot get my head around the leather feather being $90 more than the metal when done as a necklace, yet $10 cheaper than the metal when done as a keyring. That seriously does not make sense. That type of inconsistency that just hurts my head, and points to either extreme human error in data entry, or extremely casual guessing at prices. Still hurts my head though.

Yeah, and that stinks. :( We're good friends with a married couple who "host", as temporary legal guardians, Korean kids while they're in America to study high school and college. Wev'e become good friends with some of these kids too, so I take the young ladies to the outlets and buy them bags for holidays/birthdays/graduation/etc. I've seen the young ladies' eyes when they first see the prices ... especially on the boutique deletes. I remember one girl was immediately on the phone with another Korean friend, exclaiming about the prices. It's at least twice as much in Korea, they've told me. And to me, that's even more messed up considering that these items are *made* in Asia. --- My point being that the bags are already *there*, on that side of the world. Don't claim it costs too much to rent an ocean freighter when you could just warehouse them there..

As a sidenote, there was a keyring last Christmas that our daughter really wanted, but it turned out to be an Asian exclusive. When I told her that, she narrowed her eyes and defiantly proclaimed, "I *am* Asian!"

Yeah, I always wonder what's up with the Asian prices ever since I can remember buying Coach bags back in 1995!!! I remember getting my first Coach Sonoma (I think that was the name) in lime green or mint pebbled leather for SG$900!!! And back then, that amount was crazy!! I wonder how much was it in the US.... Back then, the internet and websites were things that I never knew existed..... : )

I have never heard of Coach having VIPs. Of course I am sure I don't qualify as my buying has been down. But I have only heard of 25% PCE discounts not a 10% VIP especially an ongoing one. Are you located outside the US perhaps? You will have to let us know about the feather charm.

Someone who got the $60 all packaged to the nines, I would love to see photos of the packaging
