I think they're the same thing, just side view vs. front view. And no, as I said, this one has not appeared anywhere that I'm aware of. I would have half-expected it to show up on Itbag's large Dakotah (since the small Dakotah comes with the leather feather). But no, apparently not there either.

So, sounds as if many of us are in the same boat. They cancelled my order too, and the service rep on the phone was very rude (a supervisor I asked to speak with.) I sent an email to customer service expressing my dissatisfaction. If they sold the item, they should fulfill the order. We know they have the items. Of course, they have ignored my email thus far. Coach *used* to have such great customer service... I do not plan to give them my business any longer! It's not worth the hassle.

Well after 2 weeks of holding my breathe, my store called to say my $60 version arrived. I'm happy I got mine but wish everyone else who ordered one would have as well.

It's all about supply and demand. Throw out a couple of carrots, create some buzz, yank the carrots back, create some more buzz. Lather, rinse, repeat.

The most desirable things are usually the one's we're told we can't have.

This is very interesting. I ordered the feather fob $50.00 last week. Today, I ordered the red suede 33. I asked would it come with the feather fob. It's pictured like that a lot, but it isn't shown on the actual bag like that on the website. The sales person said yes, you'll receive the feather along with this one. Almost like yes it was a gift. However my powder blue 33 didn't come with one and they told me it should have and all their displays had it. Wth is going on. Now I'm curious if the red will come with it or not. Weird.

If they want to use the snotty SA tactic to boost sales they are going to loose big time IMO. You can't even begin to compete with the big boys if you can't give basic CS or fulfill orders. This is a big clusterf0ck IMO. I feel bad for those who ordered this charm and either had their orders canceled or returned to the sender. I also find it hard to believe that it's supposed to be a GWP item since they had it plastered all over their bags in the ad campaign. Who wastes money marketing a GWP?! Clearly someone messed up here, Coach should suck it up and sell the charms to those who already went threw the trouble of purchasing them.

Yeah, but that's the kind of marketing strategy where you only release the item through specific channels that are hard to get to (like, say, Goyard)... OR, perhaps more likely, limit stock so that it keeps appearing as "sold out". Like what Coach does on FOS when things are "sold out" one week, only to magically appear the next. Indeed, even LV is suspected (but only suspected, not proven, to my knowledge) of pulling tricks like that around the times of their price increases.

But usually that type of strategy doesn't include outright cancelling orders that have already been accepted. Or WORSE --- actually turning UPS trucks around once the item is *on* the truck and out for delivery (like what they did to kmiller). I've never heard of a company turning actual delivery trucks around, just to create some buzz. Heck, I've never heard of companies turning actually delivery trucks around period.

A little more feather fob info and some more pictures - (repeating a bit to consolidate) - the fob with the leather feather and ball chain is $50. & the stock # is 67313G. The hardware & metal feather on this one are a shiny black.

The all-metal fob is about 6" long and quite substantial, with gold and a matte gunmetal feather, chain, and clip. The stock # for it is 63598G ($60.00). Pics:

I am catching up on this thread. I cannot believe that Coach is recalling shipments of these fobs! How crazy can a company be?

I am not sure it's a conspiracy or marketing ploy though. I just think Coach is clueless.

I ordered the $60 fob, and it's pictured in my large crossbody whipstitch reveal. I called jax to place the order at the time and when I ordered it, they were taking orders for either kind of fob.

The fob came in a really nice gift box, that was made just for the fob. The fob was packed MUCH nicer than any other fob I have ever bought from Coach. The packaging could definitely have been gift packaging done as a special promotion. The packaging was very high end and expensive and was much nicer packaging than a $60 fob warranted.

The China Coach site has a banner at the top of the page talking about a fob gift promotion. So maybe they are being given out in Asia? Here is the banner language google translated:

"YOU CAN GET A LIMITED EDITION COLLECTION OF FEATHER ORNAMENTS 9 / 12-10 / 12, THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE NET-PRICE GOODS SPENDING OVER 5000 YUAN, WHILE STOCKS LAST."

Yeah, my $50 one was in a fancy box too, with ribbon tied around the corners, wrapped inside, all nifty and pretty. It did surprise me a little, but I'd never ordered a fob directly by calling Jax before ... I guess I thought maybe it had something to do with that. (naive, I know)

As for the China site .... brilliant catch!!!!

(Hubby says that his very rough estimate is that 5000 yuan is a little over $600 US. That's based on the rate China was *trying* to hold as of some years ago, back closer to daughter's adoption.)

so sad this key fob is not available anywhere in all of Canada.
Apparently New York has 120 in their store - the flagship store.
And.....it has a "G" beside the code when I was in the store to ask about the key fob.

Could New York also have something coming up thats happening in Asia?!?

Its still not fair - no key fobs are in Canada.

I should of ordered from Jax!! a lot better than buying from Ebay - which I know people will sell for an insane amount. Don't they know people do this!??!

Lol, trust that my SA, store manager, and half the workers know me by first name and that I've been expecting this fob for weeks. I'm sure I annoyed the daylight out of them over it.
