Gorgeous ring F&F. It is so unusual. I really like jewelry that you don't see everywhere.

Since F&F is now talking green diamonds :faint: A nice (natural) one was my HG for years

I shall have to mention my other favourite green stone, a demantoid garnet. But since in a larger size they are more expensive than quality white diamonds I will shut up again :ninja:. Anyway, prob not the colour you are looking for.

If you are okay with a created emerald, look here:

http://betterthandiamond.com/products/Emerald-%2d-Lab-Grown-Colombian,-Round-Diamond-Cut.html

You can order by millimeter size for your setting and the cost is a lot less. They have rounds and emerald cut and you can order a special cut. This is the same company that makes Asha, the diamond sim that is nice, so I think that would be a decent product. If you don't like it, you can return it. It is a lot less than $450 though!

I'll try to take a photo of my emerald ring and my tsavorite for you together tonight, so you can see the difference. Prasiolite is pretty, but more of a mint color and sparkles less, IMO.

Meg- that is beautiful! Love it!

^you just stumped me...which isn't easy to do. I've never heard of a demantoid garnet. do you have one? if so...please show it! off to google now...

Hokaplan - what about green tourmaline? I've fallen in love with the green tourmaline in the Tiffany legacy setting. It's a 7-7.5 on the hardness scale, and all sales associates I've spoken to say that tourmaline is okay to wear every day. The stone also comes in a variety of lovely green shades . . . from dark evergreen to bright emerald green.

I know that next to diamonds, the next best stone that will stand up to daily wear and tear will be sapphire. Additionally, emeralds have more inclusions and are more prone to shattering due to their chemistry, but if they are well taken care of, there shouldn't be any problems. Tsavorites, like tourmalines, are probably the next best green stones to consider :smile1:

I am honoured to have stumped you :D

Unlike most green garnets (which are also gorgeous) they are slightly more yellow-green and is better with my colouring. They were traditionally very popular in Russia. I do have ring - off to find it :search:

I found some basic info on good ol' Wik

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demantoid

But what I like about them is they have that sparkling brilliance.
