Oh cool so you use the magnets to hold up the ends so you can rotate/wear the scarves?

Also I just love that last one with the hot air balloon. How pretty!
Yes..magnets in the 4 corners and I did add one at the top in the middle on the 2nd canvas and will probably do that on the other as well. Some of the well-loved scarves are a bit more relaxed and tend to sag a bit. But the extra magnet solves it.

This looks pretty cool! I've been wanting to frame up some of my scarves for wall art. Could you please show close up pic of the corner. Did you glue magnets on the back side and then paint the canvas? I'm not very crafty.

I'm pretty enterprising but this project doesn't take any special skills, believe me!

First, I lightly sanded the blank canvas. Then, because I wanted the canvas to blend into the wall, I painted 2 coats of wall paint along the outside edges and 3 or so inches along the edges of the canvas face. (I figured why bother to paint the entire surface..not necessary!!) Then I superglued the magnets in each corner...just be sure to place them close but not too close to the edges of the corners as dimensions vary from scarf to scarf. The magnets are nearly too far out on my first canvas..darn it! Let the glue cure for a couple hours just to be sure a tragedy doesn't occur..eg scarf glued to canvas forever!!! Nooooooo!

I'll post a closeup of the magnet tomorrow. Give it a go...it's easy.

Materials used (everything but paint was purchased at a big box craft store):

1. 36x36 stretched canvas
2. Leftover wall paint
3. 4 or 5 pair strong 'silver' craft magnets
4. SuperGlue (don't be scared!)
5. D-rings, wire, hook for hanging

This is a brilliant idea ... and yes, I too would rather have the 1+ scarf over the H system (even tho' it is in itself an object d'art)

Did you SuperGlue the magnet onto the canvas? under the canvas? Just trying to figure out how you 'secured' the magnets?:wondering

Hi Setherwood..yes, the magnet is superglued onto the top of the painted canvas.

And because the canvasses were 2 for 1...one for the guest room: 'Pavois'

Hope you enjoy...I'm pretty pleased, if I do say so myself. I'm a girl that loves a project!
JRTgal you're brilliant! I'm definitely going to copycat your idea :graucho:
It looks way better to me than the fixation set - more put together.

Thank you very much for this!

This is absolutely creative and resourceful!
Love the outcome!

m_l_p, though I have since become a frequent wearer of scarves, I didn't use to be, even though I adored H scarves. For that reason I framed a couple as an experiment and fell in love with the results. I now have several and am attaching photos - which are also somewhere in the Hermes as Art thread.

The Fixation is a terrifically useful, contemporary way to frame, though I do it old school. Mine are all in slim gold frames, framed with UV plex and archival supplies to protect the silks. in theory, I should be able to unframe and wear these scarves, though after investing what I've invested, I wouldn't...
I love the framed scarves against the blue striped wall!

Hi Fab -- Here's a close-up of the magnet on canvas. I showed the measure next to it because, on the first canvas, I affixed them a bit closer to the corner and it's more difficult to attach the scarves as some barely make it! I've fiddled with various scarves and have found the scarves themselves vary quite a bit in size. But this pic shows what works...

Thanks so much, JRTgal! I think I can do this. :D I really like your painted canvas idea--can paint it neutral or contrast with the scarf or change it up depending on which scarf. Thanks for sharing!
