Anyone else feel somewhat embarrassed about LV?

I won’t carry LV to the office (if we ever go back). I use a Kate Spade black tote that can take a beating and carry all the stuff I need for the workday and flies under the radar.

I too use a Kate Spade black tote for work. I admit it’s very durable and remains pristine. I’ve carried LV to work a handful of times just to get use of it.

For this very reason, I only have one Monogram bag, first LV bought in 2006. I prefer Damier Ebene, Epi and love Empreinte. It’s also because of the age, as I grow older, I’m not bothered with what people say anymore.

When I want to go low key, my Epi is the best bet, together with Celine Vertical Cabas and Hermes Picotin Lock. Even Chanels are recognizable too.

I agree! One of the few really good things about aging is I have stopped worrying about other people's opinions.

I don’t think I’ve ever been one to care what others think. Even when I didn’t come from the best living areas, I always had a love for fashion. It’s taken me hard work to buy luxury bags so why would I care what others think? Unless you’re paying, then your opinion is like a fart. Stinks but after a few seconds it’s forgotten.

I do find some of the self-deprecation mind boggling lol but the ones who don’t carry their bags because they would be around “poor” people and fear they would be mugged because somehow that thief is fashion savvy is laughable. Poor people do not care about your bags. I would know, I used to work with them. If you go into what we reference as ”the hood” you would get mugged because of the obvious behavior you would exhibit, not your bag lol

I agree with you and Like i said in an earlier comment on this thread the low income people probably don't know about LV. I believe the main comments and sided-eye come from middle class people. I think that when someone have middle range income it becomes a question of choice about what you spend your money on. So these comments and sided-eye are because of jealousy then. I believe that someone can almost have everything in life, but not all at once. Someone can choose a trip to the Carribeans every winter or not to go during one or 2 winters and save for a LV. As it has been said on this thread, people who judge don't know the efforts some of us put in buying designer stuffs. Personaly, I don't travel by plane, I go to restaurants only a few times a year and its not 5stars ones (DH is not a fan and a picky eater) and I shop secondhand because this is what I can afford.

I used to carry them to work, since everybody start making weird/ rude comments about me spending so much money on a bag I decided to use longchamp. I do think some people are just jealous
That's so rude! I work for a small business and they do the same thing! My coworker bought a Neverfull MM in DE and they were basically making fun of her for spending so much on it. I would love to wear my bags to work but it's not worth the mental stress.

I would just say “Some prefer to spend their money on food or Starbucks. I like to spend my money on handbags. At least I won’t be ****ting out my hard earned money.”

I kinda have the same concern - none of my colleagues/friends carry designer bags & I'm not sure if they will "judge" me for spending money on one, although it is my own little practice to celebrate milestones in life with significant purchases, and this was a bag I picked as a reward for myself after MONTHS of deliberation, therefore not an impulse purchase or anything. I wouldn't know how to feel if someone teases me for spending money on a bag. :(

Everyone has different way to treat ourselves, some splashing out for flashy cars, some on exotic holidays, expensive jewellery, fancy restaurants etc, so what makes designer handbags any difference from any of those? It’s not their business to comment or for you to explain the reason neither. No need to concern about other people just carry on doing what makes you happy.

Definitely! :) As long as I'm happy with my purchase.

I have always carried my LV bags to the office. I live in an area where I see some designer bags, but not a lot. Some people in my office have made comments before, but never in a rude way. Generally, they just tell me that I have the best husband in the world because he usually buys me a new bag every year or so for my birthday. . . Which I do!!

I have felt out of place some because where I live people don’t carry designer bags. They have designer Mountain bikes, jackets, and ski gear. I honestly think of my canvas LV as the outdoorsy bags of the designer world.

Recently I’ve been hesitant to carry my LV logo bags around. We have had a huge upsurge in crime recently. Groups coming in from 2-4 hours a way. Last week I saw them all around my house and neighbors at 3am on our cameras. That rattled me. They came from 4 hours a way to hit our little town and end up in my driveway. Other incidents have happened. I feel like a target walking around with an LV logo bag.
