Anyone else feel somewhat embarrassed about LV?

Okay, I love LV and I love steampunk aesthetics (if I understood it correctly, industrial meets Victorian meets Goth meets experimental). But never thought how to mix and match these two elements. If it works, it can be genius! But HOW does one go about it? Anyone game to open a LV & Steampunk thread, post examples, mod shots, etc? I´d join in a snap. Please forgive the OT, I just could not resist.
You just had the best idea ever. I'm REALLY into Steampunk asthetics and have NEVER thought about mixing it with LV! I am going to dress up and take several pictures. It will be the most fun, alternative and fashion-forward thread of tPF!:cool::cool:

Omg bloody hell fire!! you watch Ab Fab, Vicar of Dibley and Keeping up Appearances!! These are like British comedy gold!! I didn't think people would really understand British humour and the quirks we have so wouldn't really watch them or find it weird.
And Benedict in Sherlock series he just steam punk! Vintage history cross with sassy modern edge.. okay you have taste!!
I love keeping up appearances. That’s a family favorite shame they took it off Netflix.

Hyacinth Bucket is a legend!! As a kid I lived in a typical british suburban sprawl and most people would know someone who displayed Mrs Bucket or Bouquet character as she liked to call herself. As a teenager we were so bad and came to the conclusion that anyone who served us tea in a fine bone china tea cup with matching saucer as being a Mrs Bucket. :giggle: Obviously I've grown up and matured now and seen the wrongs in my ways

 your showing our age now. Benny Hill I remember his chasing the ladies antics. Think in today's climate many of the classics would probably be banned today. But it just shows how times have changed we could laugh at ourselves and not take things too literally and seriously.
Yah...I was around 11yrs watching those shows in 80/81. They would all be on the same US independent channel on Sunday night. First would be Dave, then Monty and Doc Who. Benny Hill would run every night at 10:30. I’m sure most of Benny humor went over my head. They were all reruns.

I don’t really watch it, but I have countless friends who absolutely love Dr. Who! I think the show has a real cult following here. My favorite British shows are Absolutely Fabulous, Keeping Up Appearances, and Vicar of Dibley. And let’s not forget Cumberbatch’s Sherlock!
"Keeping Up Appearances" is the best! Dear Hyacinth and poor, long-suffering Richard. And Violet, with her room for a pony!

Personally, I'd prefer a beaker:-)

I live in Vermont and not many people carry premium designer bags. I see lots of Coach and MK and I carry my Coach bags on most days. I'll take my Chloe backpack out for an afternoon of shopping but my mono NF I think twice about. (We're in tourist season so we get some imported premium bags )

I did take my NF to lunch with DH & another couple this weekend and I was pretty self conscious. When we go to Boston, Montreal, or home to DC - I'll rock them all proudly.

And oddly, I planned on taking my NF to the hospital Friday since I have 2 different appointments and will be there longer than usual - thus taking more things with me. For some bazaar reason the hospital feels more appropriate for a designer bag (in my town) than just a random outing to the grocery store. Like I'll get less side-eye and/or see more designer bags? Maybe I'm thinking of the doctors/specialists who may rock the designer? It's not terribly logical thinking, I know. Also - my NF will be a small ray of sunshine in my day while twittling away a few hours at hospital waiting for tests.

I never feel embarrassed about carrying any of my designer bags. Only my Chanel bags I am a little more careful where I wear them, but with my LVs of my Balenciaga bags I have no problem. Not many people wear designer bags around although it is a high end area but then again maybe they drive bigger cars or wear designer clothes, who cares. I love wearing my bags and shoes anywhere I like and it never matters to me what people think. I worked hard for them and I enjoy them.
