Anyone else Discouraged by Coach?

I have been discouraged by Coach for years. Since I purchased my Ergo
No. 9228 in 2002 I did not purchase a bag and I mean any bag from any
designer until I purchased the Dylan Hobo from Coach. I never really liked it and will probably sell it on Ebay. My two latest purchases the Legacy Shoulder hobo in whiskey and the Ali in whiskey I luv, luv, luv. I have never been into Signature at all. I live in NYC and you see alot of fakes in our city. I have not liked anything at all over the past four years until the Legacy Whiskey came along. I am not feeling anything
in this January Collection. I am waiting for the Ergo Line to come out in leather in April 07. Hopefully it will not be another four years before I purchase any bags. Coach has not come up with any new and unique designs in years except for the Legacy Line. I believe their designer Reed Krakoff is out of touch with who is Customer is and what it is they desire in a handbag. Maybe Coach should do a Customer Survey to find out what it is their customer would like.

Alot of people are saying Coach isn't coming out with new designs.......to me LV is the most boring bag there is, all the same design ...LV's or Damier....Coach has different colors, textures, styles.

I see way too many 12 yr old carrying around fake LV's....lost of the love along time ago.

LOVE MY COACH.

;) Kiari, I hear ya dear... I agree with everything you said, and I have to say, seeing Coach bags - fake or not, in places like Target really discourages me from buying them.

I also kind of think it is a natural progression. It seems that alot of people start out with Coach then move on to other brands and branch out from there... Might just be my perception... seems like alot of people start with Coach or Dooney and then move on to LV, then on to other stuff....

I skipped Dooney altogether... never really liked anything (except those cute star bags!!), and I am apparently skipping LV, kinda... I have some "eventually" LV bags to get... but they are not a buring desire.

It seems that Coach is my gateway into Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga, and I have a sneaking suspiousion Chanel will be a new obssession... I think it is somewhat a natural progression... I have to agree though... the legacy stuff is really the only stuff that has jumped out and said "buy me!"...

I have a feeling the Pond bag may be the last Coach for a while.... :crybaby: I still love Coach though!! Because that is how I got into handbags!! :shame:

Okay please no stone throwing.:search:

I think I a am seriously moving away from Coach bags. In the past 6 months the Legacy line is the only line that I have found myself willing to buy.

I don't know if I am turned off by all the fake Signature out there, the fact that this stuff is showing up in Target, or just that I plain old see it EVERYWHERE! Fakes and the real deal, it seems like everywhere I go I see multiple bags.

My next bag will be an LV, I have another LV but have really been a loyal fan of Coach but I think as far as bags are concerned that may be coming to an end.

I just really have a bad image of it right now I guess. At least the Khaki Sig. Anyone else feeling this way?
*throws stones*

j/k. loves ya.

anyways. i do agree with you. however, i'm sure my next bag will be louis vuitton, despite the fact that the fakes are RAMPANT here. (i see lots of fake coach, sure, but a ton more in lv).

my problem is that, as much as i love coach, there hasn't been much that has "wow"ed me. i've purchased lots of bags, only to end up taking them back or ebaying them. i haven't found that special bag that i can't live without, kwim?

i love how coach quickly changes styles...but it's almost too much. and i do agree with people about buying something retail and then finding it a month later at an outlet. outlets are great- if you skip the retail.

*shrugs* i don't know...

i NEVER thought i would be considering buying louis vuitton- i've never liked it before. but chanel...that's where my heart is!

and i do agree that coach is usually everyone's first "real" bag and they eventually end up with more expensive stuff. there's a hierarchy of bags...

I have to disagree regarding LV all being the same. There's a lot more to it than mono or damier canvas, and they have new styles and patterns every year, too. They have leather bags, a whole range of colors, and a whole range of shapes, from messengers to shoulder bags to the omnipresent Speedy.

That doesn't make them any better or worse than Coach; I just wanted to point out that there's a lot more variety to LV than people commonly assume.

And I totally hear you on the 12 year olds with fakes, except in this area everyone from 12-20 has a siggy Coach bag. Real or fake, sometimes I can't tell, but they are everywhere. I'm sure in larger metropolitan areas it would be the same with LV, but I see one in a blue moon here (real or fake).

Haute....I am sorry, I really should not have generalized LV....I have gone to Eluxury and didn't realize all the styles, I have never seen 90% of those styles in MI, usually just the speedy or tote. I have always loved the Vavin but I would like it in a Coach leather!! LOL (black or whiskey)
Not a Signiture girl....gotta be leather for me.

I didn't mean to offend anyone.

I find that I buy more Coach accessories then I do bags. I really have to LOVE a bag to buy it and I'm also one of those people that hates the signature bags since I see so many people these days with Coach bags I like to find interesting ones. I usually fall in love with a bag one time out of every few collections.

I got the hobo style of the bag I attached below this at the end of July, but waited till the first week of October to break it out for the fall season. It's January and I'm still carrying it around instead of changing into my winter Coach bag. I have not seen one another person anywhere I have been with the same bag.

Try a different designer like Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Prada (that's what I am doing) and then come back to Coach. Maybe you just need to change things up to enjoy Coach again.

Yeah LV definitely isn't the same design. There are many varieties that are all beautiful. I would love to buy LV over coach, but seeing as I am only 16 and have never had a job, my mom won't buy me a $1000 bag (but will definitely for herself! lol).

And I would probably dislike signature if i wasn't in high school, lol.

I totally agree. I started out with Dooney, had a brief affair with Coach, (love the Legacy line) and am now completely in love with Chanel. Just got my first bag from hubby as an anniversary gift and there is no turning back. I still think Coach makes great bags but there does seem to be a progression to other designers, at least that's what is happening for me.

Anyone who thinks LV is only a few designs should check out my hot vernis bags. :graucho: haha, j/k.

See, I have NEVER been attracted to the khaki signature or the plain LV's for that matter. Because, yes, it's something EVERYONE carries. But my Coach leather bags are fabulous, as are the accessories, and I will always come back to them for that. :D I tend to buy a lot of my things at the outlet, because I get bummed if I see something I paid full price for there.

I'm not a huge signature fan, period, regardless of the brand.

I only have 2 "designer" bags other than Coach (a Cole Hann and Kooba), and only recently started collecting, so I'm kind of in the minority here. But I understand and somewhat agree with what everyone has said. However, I do like the fact that Coach does stand by their products and, as a relatively new collector, I have been able to find things that have appealled to me even when that may not be the general consensus (which, I suppose, could be said about any designer).

I love and hate the outlet thing . . . On one hand, you've got to love a bargain. On the other, it suck paying retail and then finding out something is up in outlets for much less! And if you really love something, you don't want to take the gamble that you won't be able to find it!
