Any guesses or speculation for Hedi’s 1st collection?

Thank you for clarifying. I see your point. As a follower of his, I believe that he restrained himself for this collection to build a basic foundation of classic suits, trenches, jackets, etc., and that he may branch out into less expected directions in the future. I don’t know that he will veer into classic Celine sportswear categories, but I believe he will experiment more.

As for the casting, he has been very skinny since he was young, and that’s a big part of his identity. He talked about it in the interview he gave to Yahoo in 2015. It’s defiant and self-affirming for him to emphasize that silhouette rather than to cover it up with baggy clothes to appear more masculine. It’s about being true to himself and not conforming to what society says is the “right” way for him to look. The skinny silhouette is what speaks to him the most, and that’s reflected in the casting.

I don’t know to what extent young girls and boys are looking at this collection and comparing themselves but I agree that it’s irresponsible. Clearly he is not thinking about issues of diversity in terms of weight or race, which I agree is unfortunate. I think he is very concerned about not compromising his vision and so he doesn’t listen to critics. He is doing whatever he wants and this probably isn’t even on his radar.

Do you like...work for him or something. You're always defending. It's general critiques and it's nothing to even defend him over. Literally everyone was disappointed in this just as they were disappointed in him even getting the job. It's basically his same old collection from YSL with 'C' everywhere. We're grown, adult women, and he refuses to design clothes for anyone not chasing after 80's rocker girl dreams. He's basically a one trick pony which is fine if you have your own design house or basically 'are' the design house like Karl with Chanel but he isn't. He basically ctrl c ctrl v'd the whole thing from YSL, we've seen literally all of this before.

In terms of models, he doesn't change either. We all know that young teens are impressionable and when they see underweight models walking the runway, the first thing they pick at is their own weight. They can't control how tall they are or the color of their skin, but they can control their weight.

I'm overall just unimpressed with him and always have been and will likely continue to be.

The only good news I've heard lately is that some of phoebe philo bags will remain indefinitely. If that includes the trio I'd be very happy ...although that doesn’t seem likely. But how strange to have the classy old Celine designs selling along side these new bags. The styles are so different. I can't imagine why any of Celine's existing customers would be interested in these bags.

I hope that Phoebe Philo will resurface somewhere in the future.

I saw a review somewhere that didn't actually point this out. The whole world sees it but the review was basically just talking about the execution of each individual piece. And every other review talks about Cult of the Slimaniacs and how they're gonna bring in "loads of cash" regardless of the criticisms. It's weird.

From what I've heard and deem to be true - all Phoebe bags will stay until the end of 2018. Some of the styles will be updated with the new logo. After that, it's all Hedi. Clean slate. Nothing Phoebe.

When you say "nothing Phoebe" does that include the box? Or is that one considered so core that it will stay?

What I heard from my SA is that classic, luggage and belt are confirmed to stay, rest of the collection are still undecided, except for the ones that has been decided to be discontinued i.e Frame.
So there might be some hopes for Trio or the cabas, who knows.
If you're in Singapore, Phoebe collection will stay until everything sold out, so if Luggage is sold out in October then the shipment in November will be coming with new logo, I think so
(Don't quote me on this though :D)

There honestly is no confirmation yet. And just like @Thejewelryblonde has mentioned, most SAs honestly do not know what is to stay and what is to go.

Keep in mind our lovely SAs do not have intel in production as they work in retail sales.

However, from what I've heard from a friend who works with Celine at a marketing level, all Phoebe bags will stay until the end of the year and it's only natural for Hedi to discontinue all Phoebe bags come next year. I mean - was his debut show not enough of a signal for us that he has gone in a completely different direction?

Just curious if anyone has seen the twisted Cabas in stores anywhere? This was the first Phoebe bag that caught my eye but I never ended getting it (the time I went to check it out, I left with the Seau Sangle instead). Now I’m wondering if it’s something I need in my collection...

If I remember correctly, the Twisted Cabas was retired after last Summer. If you're in the US, Woodbury Commons has a few available. You can give them a ring and ask for Caitlin. She can ship within the US.

They also have the Biker Bucket Bag available, which is similar to the Twisted Cabas. These are on an additional discount through Columbus Day.

I liked Slimane's work at Dior, was excited for him to move to womenswear at Saint Laurent, and love the SDJ. I think he does what most designers do: take the history of the brand and try to reinterpret it with their own vision. When this happens, especially after designers who forge very new territory (Tom Ford, Phoebe Philo, Nicolas Ghesquière at Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs at LV to name a few), it is a complete jolt to the system. Even when executed well, the end of the old era is difficult to accept. Nicolas Ghesquière took the helm for Marc Jacobs at LV and is heralded now, but I remember the reactions when he took over.

That said, this collection is a miss for me. Celine to me has been at its core about powerful femininity and I feel like he misinterpreted power for masculinity and ostentation and feminity for frivolity. Neither of these are appealing; they feel more assumptive than anything else. It feels more like what he wants to see worn instead of what Celine customers want to wear. There's too much of his vision and it overshadows the legacy of Celine.

Thanks so much, i remember seeing it in the store over a year ago, maybe just before they retired it. It was such a head-turning style for me but I didn’t know how functional it would be as it’s so deep and open. Thanks for the contact but unfortunately I am not in the US.
