I find this thread so interesting! I know I have my own quirks, now I'm happy to know others have them too!

I'll never buy:

  • Dooney & Burke - Too bland
  • Juicy Couture - Too childish and too much stuff all over it
  • Coach - No longer are special; everyone has the same bag. Besides, I think the logo looks strange.
  • Luella - way too much stuff hanging off of them
  • Dolce & Gabbana - I've purchased some of their bags before, but found that I didn't love them (so returned them). They need to find their own style in order to become "special"
  • Cole Haan - I've owned many of these in the past, but now that I've discovered Gucci et al, there's no going back
  • Ugg Australia - No wonder Neimans always has some in the clearance bin. Aack!!
  • Prada solid color nylon - Why bother? I have to specifiy the solid colors (or black) because I do have a fabulous brown/yellow flower nylon tote from last season. I'm a sucker for anything with yellow roses on it, so I had to break my own rule!
I need to love my bags, so they need to be special. I get excited if I see someone with my bag (it's like a secret club!), but get very disappointed if I see everyone with it.

LOL...I saw some responses and make me smile..So many people listed "almost"all designer brands make me wonder which brand they love.

those were exactly my thoughts!!!

I would not buy

COACH, Burberry, and d&b b/c I carried it in high school and find that it DOES appeal to the younger crowd. My 12 year old lil sister is wearing Coach!

Prada - I only have 1 nylon Prada bag and it was a gift. I only wear during raining season.

JUICY - Doesnt appeal to me

Agree with those who hate LV and Coach...I have about 10 Coach bags sitting in my closet that are begging to be ebayed! I wouldn't think of carrying them. I have really no interest in Chanel, either, although I always try! They look really old-ladyish to me. Juicy Couture bags are tacky...with one exception. I bought a black Juicy Couture "It Girl" bag a few weeks ago and I can't put it down! Although I suspect that when my Prada Antic Cervo Drawstring bag arrives in a few days, that will make it easier :)

I attached some pics, but the pics definitely don't do it justice, especially the quality of the leather, which is soft, rich, and gorgeous. The detail on this bag is unbelievable. I usually don't like all sorts of elaborate stuff on my bags, but this one just looks rock & roll to me for some reason. I can't take it anywhere without getting compliments on it. Of course, it doesn't even sort of resemble any of the other, tacky Juicy bags...so maybe it doesn't count as a Juicy :)

Honestly, never say never. I don't have any particular bag that I hate. I may never get a Hermes bag , unless I stumble across a vintage one at a reasonable price. I refuse to beg for one or be put on a waiting list, or pay a unreal and unjust price for one, no bag is that important to me. :supacool:

D&B.. Just.. No.
Coach.. Hate that white contrasting stitching. And in my own opinion the price hikes do not match the quality or the actual bag itself. I do love the accessories and scarves, i own several, but i just cant with the bags.
LV.. I find the brand pretty tacky, with the monogram and the bright multicolour and the fringe and just not a fan of the perforated leather line. I did like that damier koala little coin purse, and this messenger canvas bag, but that was it.
Prada.. I cant justify the price for a nylon bag. Especially one that has been totally faked out. Most of the prada i've seen is too over the top for me, but there's always one or two.
Hermes.. Is just not my flavor, their styles just dont match me.
Chloe.. Just was never drawn to their style
Fendi.. Same as Chloe
Dior.. I only liked the gaucho bags.. Otherwise its not for me.

I think juicy should stick to clothes.. but i do want their pet carrier.

Balenciaga - Never been able to get into the style or the tassles.
D&B - Again not my style, too childish. I do like the croc line, but I would rather spend my money elsewhere.
Juicy anything - Yuck!

I guess I am the only one that loves everything from every line. And if did not like another brand or it was not my style I would not put it down, mostly in a purse forum where everybody has different tastes! It is kind of weird, putting down bags is kind of putting down the person for buying that bag.
I know alot of you hate D&B (I LOVE them) but I would not put down another brand and say it is cheap and ugly. At least not here because to me, this forum is about APPRECIATION of bags- no matter what your tastes are.
I for one, LOVE
Dooney and Bourke
Coach
LV
Kooba
Kate Spade
Monica

I love your response!! Totally agree with you. I love Dooney too and many other brands and would not put down other people choice of handbags. if everybody likes the same things, the world of handbags would be very boring. If you dont like a certain bag/brand you dont have to belittle other people choice. Not everybody can afford to drop a grand on a handbag. I feel really hurt sometime when people belittling dooney and they are only fit for little girls! I dont see how a 10 year-old can shell out 200 dollars, so the mommy must like the bag enough to buy it for her girl! I usually dont buy stuff I dont personally like and give it to my little girl! so the logic goes out of the window.

so glad to find a rare poster like you here. :smile1:

^^^Don't worry, puteri, I'm here with ya, lots of us like designers like Coach (I looove my Coach bags). It's just personal preference. I think part of it has to do with where you live too. Lots of women my age (20s) and older carry Dooneys around here, I never see such expensive bags on little girls. Carry what you love and have fun with it!

this is why its takes me SO long to choose a bag, im really picky especially considering how laidback i dress. yes i am one of those who would go to classes in sweats or pjs.. but the pjs had the school name on them.. so in my defense i was just showing school spirit? lol but i have been pumping up my wardrobe.

balenciaga - the colors are great, but i'm just not a fan. too much hardware i think.
coach - never see one i like enough for the money. although as soon as they make a red envelop wallet again, i'm all over that.
marc jacobs - i appreciate them on others but too much hardware/pockets/stitching for me. i don't even like a lot of the stuff he's done for LV.

I know I'll never buy Coach again, or any brand that's expensive and made in China. I also wouldn't buy Chanel, Bottega or most of the "boutique" style bags because I think the prices are way out of line for what you get. There's only so much you can do to a bag when it comes to materials and labor, and unless it's croc, $2,000 is way too much.
