Using the term "fob" is really offensive to me. For those of you who aren't aware, "fob" means "fresh off the boat" and is used in a derogatory manner towards asian immigrants. It is always more classy to attempt at more eloquent terms when trying to express oneself.

agreed. we try to keep it classy here.

as for me, there are brands whose bags i generally don't like, but over the space of a few seasons, i think basically every designer brand has had a bag that i would buy if my funds were unlimited. i don't generally like hermes, but i'd love to have a black kelly. i've got all the LV monogram that i need, but i'd love a few suhali bags. there's nothing that dior has right now that i'd spend money on, but maybe in the future. i don't want to limit myself! although i honestly can't see myself buying DB, Coach, or Juicy, because i don't see them as a good investment for the money.

OUCH! What's w/ the hostility! Please be respectful here Ladies.
CALLING NAMES IS NEVER PERMITTED.
No need to bash others who may like a designer either, it's so rude :(

I've heard FOB used for all types of immigrants, not just Asian.

doesn't matter who they're about, it's hateful and COMPLETELY not allowed here.
No one should be making racial slurs at all, that's just distasteful.

Agreed, comments like that are repulsive and show ignorance.

im SORRY if "FOB" offended you, but I AM ASIAN AS WELL, and so is 99% of my friends. i DONT THINK FOB IS derogatory term at all, and neither do my asian friends. we use it all the time. it is a term to describe those who just came to the US recently.

if u think it is derogatory, then im sorry you feel that way. i didnt say it in jest nor to offend anyone. i also would not have used the word "fob" so lightly if i werent surrounded by them. my own family immigrated here as well, and we use the word FOB to refer to new immigrants.

i havent found ANYBODY (asian or not) who has found offense to that word, and i live in NYC, the melting pot of the world!

While some people call friends etc derrogatory names as a joke or what have you, it is not allowed here EVER. It is completely disrespectful.

I can find something cute in almost all the brands listed. Even Dooney & Bourke - I love the Nile line Hat Box. And I've recently seen a Juicy satchel in the softest leather I've ever found! So maybe it's easier to say what line I've never bought because I just couldn't find anything: Raffe, Calvin Klein, Cole Hahn....

At last count (my husbands not mine) I totaled out at 180 bags. (been collecting for a looong time). So I always seem to find something I like, be it high end or discount.

My solid rule is No Fakes. So no matter how much I want that fake Birkin, I'll just wait until I can afford a real one - 20 years from now.
