It means the entire set of numerals that make up the serial number is unique, not the individual digits. So there shouldn't be another bag out there with the exact same set of numbers in the same order as yours.
Thank you, Whateve!!

Other wallets I've seen with the tab and loop closure have brass hardware. What color is the zipper pull? This little wallet was already kindly authenticated on the other thread, but I only had one picture and other than authentic, no other info could be given.
I have more pictures now that might help.
Size is only about 4.25 x 3.25 inches. Made in Turkey. It has the bull's eye on one of the inside folds, on the other is like there was at one point a key chain attached, one compartment behind the zipped one, one on the front under the flap.
I would like to replace the key chain, any guesses if at that time it would be brass or silver? I have found an older wallet on Ebay with the key chain, but the pictures were not good enough to tell.
As usual I will appreciate any info, it is so cute!

Items with the tab and loop closure appeared in the 1989 catalog. The fact that it was made in Turkey means it wasn't made until after 1994, probably later than that. There is a good chance it isn't officially vintage; it was probably made in 1996 or later. I don't know if the Turkey plant was operational before that. Brass was used for all items until around 1997. When nickel was introduced around that time, it was usually used for certain colors. It was common for red to have brass hardware. That changed later. It is brass, faded but brass, (YKK plastic zipper).
The wallet although vintage, is not as "old" looking as some I have seen, and I do not mean the condition, but the style... hard to explain. I do not want to add silver and make it look modern, but may be brass was used in even older wallets... all confused, LOL

I think the tab is really cute. I like the minimal hardware look. I think it makes it look a little homemade. It's not that easy to use though.Thank you so very much Whateve! I love to learn about the Coach history. You see.. I must have a good "eye", the wallet didn't look very vintage to me, just a bit, LOL
Keep in mind that there are authentic two piece boxes. They are plain white generic boxes with a sticker on one side with the style number, name and bar code. Some of the keychains with fur come in these to keep the fur from being matted.I think I posted pictures here in the past but another is always helpful to avoid scouring through pages and pages of posts.
The following pictures show authentic versions of keychain boxes that are way less commonly seen than fake 2-piece similar boxes.
The first one also shows the label on the side of the box and that it matches the style of the fob.
Yes, I know that.Keep in mind that there are authentic two piece boxes. They are plain white generic boxes with a sticker on one side with the style number, name and bar code. Some of the keychains with fur come in these to keep the fur from being matted.
I knew you knew that. I was worried someone reading your post might not know that.Yes, I know that.
It's the white with brown bordered boxes that I refer to as the fake 2-piece boxes.
Hi, I'd like more information on the strap on the bag in this eBay listing, please. Is it authentic? It's different from the strap shown in the catalog pic. I've read that Coach offered alternative straps back then. Could this be one of them?

It's interesting that you ask this question now as I just got a classic pouch with the same strap! We know this strap was available as we have seen it on stewardesses made for the airlines. The one I have is the same length as the strap on a stewardess and the one in the listing seems the same. I don't recall any retail bag that came with a two sided strap that buckled on like this one. It's possible that Coach offered it for new bags for a short period of time but that seems unlikely since we would have seen more of them. It's also possible that the original straps were damaged and Coach offered these as replacements or that an enterprising SA offered them to her customers. Since we don't see them often, it probably wasn't a corporate policy.Hi, I'd like more information on the strap on the bag in this eBay listing, please. Is it authentic?
