LOL! That was tongue-in-cheek. I was joking.I'll be more carefulIf they bothered to read this thread, they'd learned a lot by now and Hall of Shame become obsolete.

I'm not naive enough to think that this forum is the where the fakers come to learn to make a better fake. Seriously, when they really want to fake it right, they buy the real deal and actually de-construct it to see exactly how it's made so they can replicate it right.
I believe it was/is called a leather medium duffle. Original price was $298.I hope it is OK to ask this question here. I am not asking about the authenticity of the bag, that I am positive it is, although I do not know the real name, because I have seen it as a Soho, a Chelsea and a plain Duffle.
The Style is 10399 from 2006. The picture is from the internet, the one I am considering buying is at a local Thrift Shop.
I am wondering if the color is supposed to be the same all over the purse, or the top band of leather could be in a darker tone, like cream versus ivory? The one I am looking at has a darker tone, but very uniform on that part, could it be like that or age/use has darken it only there?
If you want me to move the post to other section, please let me know. Thanks!

The color variation is unusual. In vintage pieces we see it quite a bit because different pieces of leather took dye differently, but this isn't old enough to have that problem. In light colored bags sometimes the color of the underlying leather starts to show through, which could account for the difference in color.I hope it is OK to ask this question here. As for your strap, it's possible that the strap isn't the original that went with the bag. The strap is removable and could have been replaced. Otherwise, I can't explain the color variation. The original strap matched the bag.

I misunderstood.Thank you for your input. It is not the strap that it is different color, it is the top part next to the opening of the bag, but the color difference is only on the front. I would find it more "normal" if it was on the back from rubbing against clothing, I was puzzled that's why I asked.
I misunderstood.
No problemYour reply was a good tip, a reminder that when straps are removable, we need to be sure if a discrepancy in color could be because of use, or they were replaced and not disclosed, so thank you.
This is the picture, I got the bag! I am guessing... perhaps the leather was from a different cow when it was made, one that had spent more time on the sun, LOL

The top piece was probably from a California cow, the Wisconsin cows usually don't get as much sun, or they go a bit heavier on the sunscreen.![]()
NYC creeds were used from the mid 70s through 1988. We can't narrow it down more than that unless we know a style was only made for a short time.Hello everyone. So I purchased a stewardess bag at goodwill. Hyacinth was kind enough to authenticate it with a couple of hastily taken/.posted pictures. Is it possible to narrow down when it was made?

It means the entire set of numerals that make up the serial number is unique, not the individual digits. So there shouldn't be another bag out there with the exact same set of numbers in the same order as yours.Thank you!! Also, there are duplicate numbers in the serial. I reread the sale area guide and it mentions duplicate numbers were not used. Is that individual numbers within a serial numbers as well as serials as a whole?
