July 5.... anyone snag any handbag treasures this week?

I bought 2 Alto handbags on the Dooney site.... they were on sale
and then had the additional 30% off.

And then, I went to ILD and found more handbags I wanted,
but clearly did not need. After trimming my cart, I bought
2 pebbled leather satchels and 1 Plumeria coated canvas.

Lots of price creep these days so the sales don't take the prices
down as low as in the past. These days it's all about the expectation
of what a good deal is.... discount off and ever increasing list price
still results in paying more.

I was surprised that there were not real treasures (price wise)
on ILD/ebay over the last 2 days.

I hope you will share your new acquisitions with us. I will try to live vicariously through you. I didn’t get anything. I’m trying to be good.

I caved and bought a pebble drawstring in white at $136 and a fuchsia Saffiano Geena for $101. Agonized over the polka dot Geena or Brenna but I think I would find it difficult to wear a dot pattern, much like the Chevron. Did not need either one but I loved the handle and leather edge on the bottom of the drawstring and I found the fuchsia to be a fun color and a bag I can wear fearlessly in the rain.

I’ve been lurking here but just wanted to comment that I Love Dooney on eBay is having a great sale on certain colors of bags today, I got a notice of some price drops, like pebble grain shoppers, crossbody bags, and totes for $20 - $30. I bought more than I needed of course 😊

Thanks for letting us know. Now I have to go look for more handbags I don't need, but love
to buy. 😁

The Geena is a very nice style... the base is deep enough that even in a smaller satchel there is room for stuff. And Saffiano is care free for any weather. I've really been loving fuchsia and hot pink bags this spring. Enjoy your new one.

And pebbled leather handbags are also every weather resistant, in my experience. The pebble leather itself resists rain, it's only the trim that can spot. I find if I condition the trim then these bags do just fine in most weather. I never condition the pebble leather itself.

I just got the Geena in Plumeria coated cotton. The print is amazing, so 3 dimensional that it looks like real straw.

Of course, I had to look. So far I’ve talked myself out of buying, but the night’s still young.

Must resist.

My original post was delayed since it had to be reviewed by a moderator and it looks like the super low prices only lasted for an hour or so, of course many things sold out very quickly but on a few items that remained, the prices went back up to what I would consider a more “normal” sales price so I wonder if these prices were an accident?? I will see if they fulfill and ship my order, as of now it hasn’t been cancelled. Some of the bags I purchased were a pebble grain crossbody hobo for $21, a Florentine crossbody for $20, and a pebble grain Presley for $26. Those prices seemed abnormally low but I’ve gotten really good deals there before so I figured maybe they were clearing out some stale inventory. eBay alerted me to some price drops early this morning and I was like wow.

I couldn't find 🙄anything.... maybe they think I have enough and aren't showing me the
extra sales.
I looked at the regular ILD site but I wanted smooth leather and not black nor white. They had two other colors, but neither were great for my wardrobe. I want a white bag, but my jeans-forward style of dressing makes that a bad choice so my wallet stayed closed.

True, no matter what the leather or fabric of a handbag, a light color is at risk of getting
color transfer from dark clothing, especially denim. Shoulder bags and cross body
bags are especially vulnerable, as they not only sit and move against the body but the
color transfer seems to be more likely because of the body heat.

Prewashing the denim or dark clothing is helpful, but often not enough
to prevent problems.

Even bags carried in the crook of the arm can get color transfer.
Hand carried bags are less vulnerable, unless the strap/handle is long and the
the bags rub against your legs.

And from experience, I have learned that patent leather is not the answer....
patent will get color transfer and it's likely permanent.

If you do carry a light colored handbag, maintenance is the key...
check for color transfer and soil every day and try to remove it immediately,
before the color penetrates into the leather. But one of the issues with light color
handbag is also that the color is often NOT drum dyed, but rather applied on the surface...
so trying to remove color transfer and soil can also remove the color of the bag.
And this is true even if the brand says the bags are drum dyed.... it sometimes means
that the darkercolors (or core color) are drum dyed. but the fashion and seasonable colors
may not be drum dyed. I don't know if it's a technical issue or a cost/business decision.

I own white handbags in Dooney pebbled leather and they have held up well.
But I hand carry my bags and also check for stains daily and remove them at once.
It's a lot of maintenance and easy to overlook.
Any other leather I have in light colors I baby and rarely use.
Of course, that doesn't stop me from buying pretty colors....
like Ecur, Pale Blue, Blush Pink, Bone, etc. 🙄
These bags will likely last forever.... they rarely get carried.

They canceled my orders and waited over 24 hours to do so after the money had been withdrawn from my bank so now I have to wait several days for a refund since I used Paypal. I won’t be purchasing from this seller again, very unprofessional.
How annoying that is. Not right to tempt you with great deals on great handbags and
then not be able to ship them. Sounds like a glitch in the system to post such low prices.... or very small quantities were allocated at those prices.

In my experience, I Love Dooney is reputable. But the more links in the payment procese
the longer refunds can take. You can call I Love Dooney directly and request the credit be
processed since they cancelled the order. It may expedite the process a little.

Thank you. I have had good experiences so far with the direct ILD website, I don’t really need any new handbags but if so I would have second thoughts about purchasing through their eBay store, it seems to be run differently than the website. Apparently according to some of their eBay feedback they do this from time to time, list for low prices and then cancel the orders. It’s just frustrating since I was excited about these bags and they seemed very unapologetic.

I did order a Dillen drawstring bag in the red color for $75 a few days prior to these cancelled orders and that did ship. It looks like a beautiful bag and I’ve wanted a drawstring, it’s probably my 10th Dooney 😀
