Clutches are great for certain occasions when your feeling very girly/dainty/ladyish. It can be a pain to carry but just like all the big bags out there, the little clutch also makes a very big (not big bag in your face) statement.

if you are having trouble holding them, have you tried a beaded wristlet type style? I don't think they are actually called that. let me see if I can find a pic of what I mean!

ok, this particular one is horrid! but its the shape & style I'm on about. you can slip it over your wrist & it won't restrict your movements (or ability to hold glasses/eat) very much at all!
