An entire copy-cat line of bags from Rioni

If someone can get a bag that is stylish plus great workmanship for a fraction of the cost, then why not? I think some people need to ask themselves if it's the *name* they're more interested in than the product itself. After reading some of the comments, it almost makes me ashamed to own an LV....

I completely agree. I just hate to see bashing of anyone's personal choices, that's all. :smile1:

Why does it almost make you ashamed to own LV? Not every LV owner is bashing Rioni. A lot of people on this thread are just choosing not to carry Rioni as a personal choice and they're being bashed for expressing their point of view. It seems the bashing is going both ways, IMO... Just sayin' :shrugs:

Add to this the fact that this is an LV forum and that Rioni seems to copy... let me rephrase... "resemble" several well known LV lines and of course this will provoke a reaction among LV lovers. Please try not to take it personally, we're only talking about the brand, not about the people who choose to buy it. :smile1:

I own LV's myself and although the two brands are similar, it doesn't bother me to carry either. I'm just somewhat rubbed the wrong way in some of the condescending remarks that I've read on the forum. I can't help but get the feeling that there are some that think a brand such as this is below them. Honestly, I feel sorry for people that want to carry LV but can't afford to and have no choice but to carry something else, and then see remarks such as those that have been posted.
That's my point. :smile1:

Just because something isn't illegal, doesn't mean that it's not unethical.

And, let's face it, most of us were taught pretty early on not to copy the ideas of others (I always found that trite saying about the "sincerest form of flattery blah blah" to be nonsense, but I digress).

Regardless, it's up to individuals to decide for themselves what their own ethics, aesthetics, needs and wants are or should be.

And it's up to the rest of us to judge them according to our own ethics, aesthetics, needs and wants! (LOL).

Always well said, DrDior.
I'm totally checking out of this thread and off to look at gorgeous LV bag reveals.:broom:

There is nothIng wrong with wanting to buy a bag made with great craftsmanship and quality. I think the problem is that they copied LV's designs to a "T". For example the Rioni "neverfull" lookalike is almost identical to LV. They could have changed the design to not have the straps on the side. I don't see anything wrong with others who want to wear this bag. If the craftsmanship is great and they had original designs I would be more tempted to purchase. My decision to not want to carry a Rioni has nothing to do with the label. It has everything to do with the fact that there is absolutely no originality.

I see your point and I understand where you're coming from... I think it's cool you own and enjoy both brands, that's what bags are for to make us happy :D

I'm still not a fan of this Rioni business but to each their own... nice talking to you, see you later :smile1:

Falling over :lolots: My mom who can afford any designer item, but doesn't know the name of any, carries this brand of bag. I never even knew others knew of the line. She brought luggage and purses due to a sales girl preaching the superior quality. Mind you I grew up in a town where Louis Vuitton just arrived like 3 years ago and the highest end store at that time was Dillard's. So with my mother in mind, some people just don't know.

I took her to the Louis Vuitton store and she still didn't see a connection. She doesn't read Vogue or watch reality tv, or keep up with celebs, so how could she know? All she knows is a nice sales girl said this is a durable bag with a timeless look. I just think it is funny that my mom's favorite purse line has made it to Tpf:laugh:

My sister got her to expand and buy Micheal Kors. The thing that sold her on his line? Solid colored soft leather.

...I am just saying there are still small towns and cities where people aren't designer minded or intentionally out to dupe.

Lots of love ladies and gent :hbeat::hugs:

I agree with you that they're very similar but the same can be said about Micheal Kors bags too. I saw an MK bag that looked so much like a Prada it caused me to take a second look, not to mention his look-a-like neverful bags.

The fact that LV has switched over to cloth tags is another reason some might be more willing to go a different route. If both bags are made in China (just speculating) I'm sure there are some people who would rather go the less expensive route just for that reason alone. I have noticed here lately that LV doesn't seem to hold it's resell value like it used to. Dunno what the reason is for that. :confused1:

Oh yeah. My hick town. I wouldn't dare show up with a mono LV there. I've only ever seen two LVs there. One on the arm of what appeared to be someone visiting the local joke for a mall, and the other a fake at a garage sale (pic posted in the appropriate LV thread).

The Rioni is discreet enough I can get away with it. But the local purse shop owner thought it was a fake LV, even though it obviously has a different logo pattern. I tried to explain, but it didn't seem to register. She probably still think I carry a fake. Mind you, a lookalike Gucci logo pattern is sold in most purse stores in my country..

This is very true. I like MK bags and other "middle end" designers, but I stay away from bags that too much like high end designs(I guess I like originality). Seeing this thread is the first time I have ever heard of Rioni and from what I heard the craftsmanship and quality is good. If the designs were more original and not so blatantly copying LV I would give them a try.

I agree I get so many compliments on my Rioni bag, and the quality is good. I would love to own a louis vuitton but I throw and knock my bag around sooo much, I don't know if I am grown up enough to have one lol.
