I just heard that they're saying that she's exhibiting signs of Schizophrenia, and that the hold may be extended for two weeks. Her parents were also photographed leaving the hospital and are supposedly meeting with lawyers to see if they can petition for conservatorship.

Whether she's bipolar or Schizophrenic, I hope she gets the help she needs. Its so difficult to restrain people or keep them locked up against their will if they start acting "normal" - as I mentioned earlier, this happened to a co-worker of mine. They admitted her against her will (I had to sign the papers), but once she was in her "right mind" she decided she didn't need to stay - they couldn't hold her against her will, so they had no choice but to discharge her. She didnt follow up with her Dr, refuses to take her meds, and I'm so afraid another breakdown is just around the corner, but there's nothing anyone can do to stop it.

I hope her parents are successful, and Amanda finally gets the help she appears to so desperately need. It makes me so sad when I see old clips of her, cute and smiling showing so much maturity and promise.

(and to those who think she's faking - in the beginning, I thought it may have been an act, similar to Joaquin Phoenix, but not anymore. You don't get admitted on a 5150 psychiatric hold just for fun or as part of an act! )

WTF? Her parents refuse to pay saying Amanda needs to pay for it? Those don't sound like the words of a parent who wants to get their child help (or one who should be granted conservatorship over their daughter!) And the woman who's driveway it was - sounds like she's looking for $$$ above & beyond what it costs to repair/clean. A neighbor offered to take care of it free of charge & she turned it down? Ridiculous! Why? If all she wants is it fixed, why turn down an offer to have it done free of charge, unless she wants something more than what it will cost to fix it.

AMANDA BYNES’ PARENTS
WE'RE NOT PAYING
for Gas Fire Damage

Amanda Bynes' parents REFUSE to pay for the fire damage their daughter allegedly caused on a neighbor's driveway late Monday night ... telling TMZ it's Amanda's mess to clean up.

We spoke with Amanda's father who tells us he has no intention of paying for any damage or cleanup related to the blaze ... saying, "Amanda needs to pay for it."

TMZ broke the story ... cops believe Amanda used a gas canister to ignite a small blaze in the driveway of an elderly widow who lives in the same neighborhood as Amanda’s parents in Thousand Oaks, CA.

That woman, Bonnie Braaten, turned down an offer from a neighbor who volunteered to power wash her driveway and clean up the mess from the fire. Braaten thinks Amanda’s parents ought to pay for the cleanup ... but clearly, the feeling ain't exactly mutual.

Amanda is currently hospitalized involuntarily on a 5150 psychiatric hold -- while officials examine her mental state.

AMANDA BYNES
SIGNS OF SCHIZOPHRENIA

Amanda Bynes is exhibiting signs of schizophrenia ... and medical professionals and others WILL seek a 2-week extension on her 5150 psychiatric hold so doctors can properly diagnose her ... sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ.

We're told ... ever since Amanda was taken into custody Monday night -- after she lit a fire on an elderly woman's driveway in Thousand Oaks, CA -- people close to Bynes are convinced she's suffering from mental illness, specifically schizophrenia.

Sources tell us ... Amanda's parents will now ask a judge to put the 27-year-old in a conservatorship, a la Britney Spears, because they believe she is unable to care for herself and could be a danger to others.

Amanda's parents have wanted to take action for the past couple of months -- but they didn't have the goods because Amanda's conduct was not so over the line that a judge would take away her freedom.

Now, after the driveway fire incident ... the circumstances may have changed enough to convince a judge Amanda needs help and supervision.
