Am I nuts?Do you save your bags because you're afraid to carry them everyday?

No, I don't think ur nuts at all. Sometimes my 'good' bags go into hibernation and then I'm like 'what the hell?'.

But when u spend big bucks on something, i'de like to be practical. If I were u, I wouldn't carry your beauties for everyday chores like supermarket, laundry etc. Save it for lunch dates with the girl friends or fun outings. That way you'll minimize the wear and tear. That's what I do anyways.

Ha! So it's not just me. Thing is, I WANT to carry them, I just love them, I love how they look, smell, feel, how they make me feel, you know. So I feel guilty for not carrying them and guilty if i do, and i would never sell even one of them! But maybe if I try this rotation scheme... Do you rotate regularly chessmont?

My problem is no I don't rotate them. They more expensive they are the more 'afraid' I am to use them. What a dope I am. I will try to work on this. My Hermes have barely seen the light of day

I am seriously considering selling bags I cannot bear to use...

This is really funny, I was pondering this question today, wondering if I was the only one!

Right now, I rotate between four purses. My collection is small, but I am slowly building it.

I do find that it does less wear and tear on my bags, for sure.

I usually start using a new bag as soon as I get it.
My problem is when I get tired of some of my bags and don't use them I feel guilty.
So sometimes I'll sell one or if I can't get an acceptable offer, I'll eventually use the bag again. Sometimes I change my mind and start liking a bag again.

I'd much rather use a bag and have it show some wear than spend a lot of money and have it sit on a shelf.

i just realized that i have not been rotating bags and saving them for later. I used to rotate them a few years ago for use as daily bags, but now they are all stored away only used for a few weeks in the last year. Maybe i should take them out more often.

Ha! I know. I figured if I WAS crazy the good folks on TPF would straighten me out and if I wasn't crazy, I'd get good ideas as to how to cope! So now I'm thinking about rotating and how to start...

Never! I wear my cognac Gucci Marrakech to the pool!! :faint: It's protected in my canvas tote bag but I don't believe in "saving" my bags. I buy them to use and use and use. Ironically if I were ever to consider selling it, it would go in mint condition. Instead, I think it would be smartest to hand down to my DD's in the distant future!

I believe in purchasing a bag you love to use as often as you like! ;)

As someone who prowls estate sales, I've seen plenty of closets full of new or practically new designer purses, designer clothes, etc. You can't take it with you, you should enjoy and use your beautiful purses. :)

lol @ the subject title of this thread. i only have a large amount of tokidoki bags and i literally use 2 out of my collection because i'm afraid to dirty any of the other ones.

Nope, you're not nuts. We all know people who do that. Personally. I choose which bag to carry based on how they go with my outfit. But I also consider weather and location. I like mixing high end, high street like a Hanes t-shirt, Levi's jeans and a Chanel or Balenciaga or a Prada summer dress with a $40 straw tote, so that my look is not too precious. I don't switch around a lot though, maybe once a week or so. Means I'm usually wearing the same kind of look several days in a row, lol.

I enjoy using nice things so I use them all the time.

Just yesterday, there was a slight drizzle and I was going to walk to theatre with my friend. I was carrying a kinda new epi Alma and my friend couldn't believe that I would bring that out in the rain. But why not? The leather's tough enough to stand the drizzle and I was too lazy to switch bags, lol!

I have a bunch of bags I hardly ever use. It's not really on purpose, but just because I have no occasion. I can't carry big shoulder bags to work because I have to carry a backpack with my laptop... and I have essentially no social life... so I just find very little occasion to wear some. Like my big velvet 85th Anniversary Gucci. It's autumn colors, so I feel like I can only carry it in autumn... maybe winter, but it won't fit over my shoulder if I'm wearing a coat. It definitely is not suited for work. So really the only time I can wear it is if I go out of my way to go shopping. I think the last time I wore it was when I went to see Eddie Izzard like 3 years ago. *sigh*

I wind up buying bags thinking I can use it for this or that... but then I never wind up doing any of that.
