Do you just put it inside the bag? I'm worried the leather d change shape!

I lay the strap across the top before storing the handbag in the dust bag. It doesn't change the strap's shape at all.

I don't remove the strap. I usually carry the bag by shoulder, and I lay the strap across the top and carry by hand if I'm riding the subway (don't want to bump other people).

I'm really not sure what type of protection you're looking for, but you can always add a twilly! It's a cute touch, and it sorta protects the handle from getting dirty etc.!

A twilly looks great! Fendi has quite a few styles coming out with fur handles covers. Not certain if they are going to sell them separately.
