I see they are now doing the Andiamos with non-tonal hardware where the straps pass through and metal straps instead of leather? Not sure how I feel about this, I feel it makes the bag quite busy-looking, but I suppose solves the issue of strap wear...

I tried it, it looks more traditional in many ways, especially in the classic darker colours.

I love it! Using it right now actually. I’m honestly very bummed it’s an “it” bag lol. I’ve had it for a few months and it’s been so under the radar. It’s extremely versatile and the fondant is very easy to style. Fits as much as my medium flap (minus my card holder since it has slots) for reference. They did not have the green when I purchased mine but I would repurchase the fondant again even if the green was available. Good dark brown bags can be hard to find that don’t feel dated quickly imo. This fits the bill.
Can you share some photos to show what it fits? Thanks!

Right?! I'm also sad, I'm not a huge fan when I start seeing my bag everywhere. But then again, it's gorgeous and now I'm part of that crowd lol.

My friends are all pushing me towards green, I already wear a decent amount of green clothing. Also, I don't plan on buying a ton of designer clutches since I can't say I have many occasions to use one. I may end up getting Emerald Green in a larger bag one day. You're definitely making me feel better about Fondant!

Here is what fits in my clutch. I have all of my cards in the card slots and also it has a back slot I put cash and other cards in. So no need for a wallet. LV 6 key holder, iPhone, and sunglasses in the Chanel pouch. Inside my ysl pouch I have medicine, granola bars for my kids and lipsticks. It’s a very good size for a clutch. IMG_6569.jpeg

Wow! Way more than I’d expect. Do you worry about wear and tear given that it’s hand held and more likely to get set down, knicked, etc?

I’ve worn it a ton and it’s held up great. Generally I put it in my lap when sitting down at a restaurant, etc…my only suggestion is regarding storage. Don’t leave the metal piece hooked through the front because it leaves an impression (I learned the hard way). I store it tucked inside the bag instead.

I am really, really tempted to get the Medium Andiamo in space colour with the silver hardware. Now that more people have had the bag for longer - do the straps hold up alright? I’m contemplating buying from Italist, the price is better but presumably there is no certificate of craft, so I worry that I will buy a bag that Bottega will later shrug their shoulders over and refuse to fix if the straps wear badly…

The straps hold up great, that’s not the wear and tear concern on this bag for me. It’s corner wear that is the biggest issue. The pointy corners and lambskin isn’t the best combo. But still love the bag.

Also, when you are already spending that much on the bag, I’d personally buy directly from BV to get the cert of craft. Doesn’t really seem worth saving a few hundred dollars to forego it given it’s a lambskin bag so is undoubtedly going to show wear at some point

Yeah you’re right, the price difference is actually $1k for me (I’m in Australia) so it’s not insignificant, but I do feel I would be much more reassured with a certificate of craft. I’d sleep better at night and feel more comfortable wearing the bag out!

I wonder if there’s more information on what the certificate actually entitles you to? Does it entitle you to free repairs/replacements if there are breakages? Are the terms for repairs etc actually reasonable?

My husband bought it from a retailer and it doesn’t have the certificate either. I suspect because it’s a seasonal colour it would be difficult to repair later down the years
