I have a smoother leather Rocco, and I'm honestly not a huge fan of it on this silhouette compared to the bubbly leather, so that lets the pale gold out for me on that basis. I do like the pale gold HW, though. Both are equally nice, so it's really personal preference. I haven't had problems with either HW version, but I rarely carry any of mine due to rotating so much.

One of my main concern with the hw is the wear. Do you think because the pale gold is shiny that it would show wear more than the antique brass? Also, when I carry the bag, the pale gold is heavier than the antique brass. But maybe I'm just imagining it.

^^I know that it states "lambskin" on the AW site...but I thought the soft/smooth leather was actually calf. Some of the Rockies state "bovine". Calf would be heavier than lamb...which would explain the difference in weight that you are noticing between the two. I think that calf would hold up better than lamb in regards to sturdiness and wear.

I have carried the pebbled leather (lamb) for years and really haven't had any issues. One of my bags had some minor fading/wear on the bottom corners...but a little bit of conditioner took care of it. I can't comment on the smooth leather since I haven't carried one.

I sold my antique brass (bullets) bag last year but the hardware still looked perfect. I was just looking at my silver studs (cupcake) and they look great too. IMO, the studs that really need babied are the matte black and shiny bullet studs...like the ones in the pic below. They scratch very easily so you will have to be careful where you set your bag. I had to make sure to place my bag on top of a coat or jacket because even setting it on my desk would scratch it.

It does say lamb skin on the AW website on the description of the soft leather with pale gold hardware, maybe that's why it's so heavy. Also, it does have the shiny bullet studs so as you mentioned it might need babying a lot more than the antique brass. :( very tough decision.

After reading your likes and concerns, I think you should keep the soft/smooth Rocco. The little bit of extra weight between the two shouldn't be a deal breaker. The shiny studs are definitely more high maintenance than the antique brass but you will just have to pay more attention to where you set it down...and you probably already do that with your bags anyway.

Keep the soft/smooth, load it up, and enjoy it. Roccos are great bags...don't overthink it.

It's looking like I'm getting more and more convinced to keep the soft leather with pale gold. I do have one more day to think about it before I see my friend on Monday and have to give her one. Thanks for all the input!

I think the other ladies can probably give you better advice since I don't carry any of my bags that frequently, but the only one I've had issues with HW-wise is the citron and black Rockie Dumbo with the matte black HW. It wasn't MY issue from usage but rather I ordered it from Nordstrom, and it arrived with a few tiny scratches/nicks already on the studs. I think it was most likely a display bag. I got it for a steal after markdowns, so I didn't care that much TBH, but cathead87 is exactly correct about that HW. When I carry it, I watch it carefully so that it doesn't get worse, but I should also say I'm very picky, and they were literally tiny scuffs that you can't see just looking at it. As for the leather aspect, the only one I can tell is going to wear with much usage is my metallic Rockie in Nile, but that doesn't surprise me. Again, I got it for a steal after price adjustments from markdowns, so I'm happy to deal with that. Otherwise, I've had the earliest Roccos and some of the new ones, as well as a few Darcys and Rockies with various stud combos, and I have had no other issues with any of them. I'm sure it will depend on how rough you are on your bags and how often you use them, as I know some ladies have had various issues. It's true of any brand, though. At least black leather is a better risk than a light color, and as was mentioned, just be careful not to scuff the studs. Or keep both if you can...both have diff HW and leather but yet they can sort of be back ups in case something happens to one of them. I know...I'm not helping! :p Good luck on your decision! :D

I ended up keeping the soft leather with pale gold hardware! And I'm glad I did because it turns out my friend likes the pebbled leather with antique brass hardware! So try! Win win for both of us. Thank you all for your input! We both love our bags [emoji7]
