'True Blood' Showrunner Confirms One Major Character Will Die in Season 6

Trubie should prepare to bid farewell to one of their favorite characters. After getting through five seasons without killing off any major character, "True Blood" will feature one big death in the upcoming season 6.

"One of our principal characters will not make it all the way through the season," new showrunner Brian Bucker tells Rolling Stone. "We're going to stop to grieve them, and try to tell the more human side of the supernatural stories we're telling."

The cast members have also talked about this potential shocking moment. "It's heartbreaking," Ryan Kwanten describes the situation of the table read for the emotional scene. "I was actually quite surprised that we had survived as long as we have without any true main cast dying. It was tough; even in the table read when we knew that this character was going to go, there were tears galore."

Chris Bauer admits, "It sucked!" He explains, "When you get used to being around somebody and get to know them both as their character and who they are, it's just not fair to see them go."

Echoing his co-stars, Joe Manganiello says, "The table read was really sad, heartfelt. That person cried." The Alcide depicter further shares, "We all clapped, and then in 'True Blood' fashion, we had red velvet cake. When someone dies, they serve red velvet cake. Like, bloody cake, and you eat it ceremoniously, which is kind of what werewolves do."

Alexander Skarsgard calls it "emotional," while Carrie Preston says it's "sad" and there were a "lot of tears."

Rumors have been circulating that Skarsgard's Eric will bite the dust in the sixth season, but nothing is confirmed just yet. Whoever ends up being killed off, he/she will likely be honored in the seventh episode which is titled "The Funeral".

"True Blood" season 6 will premiere Sunday, June 16 at 9 P.M. on HBO. New clips from the first episode have been released, sharing more scenes including the one which sees Eric and Pam having an argument about his sister Nora, and another which features Sookie's first encounter with Ben, her new Fae love interest.

Ah come on now... hope it's Beel! "Where is Beel?" his constant "Suckeeh is maaahn (mine)" are giving me headaches tbh.
