you all are so impressive with the embedding images and stuff - I must begin practicing. Happy B-Day Ms. Squirrel!

I am thrilled that Tarzan is still on - next summer he said? Plus - there are something like 25 Tarzan books - so I say - lots of sequels. Plus it really isn't cheesey - it gets that rep from the old H Wood versions. If you check out "Greystoke" you'll see a contemporary movie of T man that is decidedly not cheesy. In the books he becomes so disillusioned with western society that he and his wife Jane move to a vast estate in Africa from which his many adventures are based. The character is also very athletic and very ethical. I think this will be perfect for AS and you know the reward for doing a successful franchise film is that you get to do the dramatic stuff you want.

I do not get the whole fantasy photo shoot sort of thing - unless a boxer beat up AS suits the image of the magazine?

Don't most shoots have a theme?

Vogue - intrigue, infidelity, temptation, another place/time
Interview - darker sexuality, mild BDSM
GQ on the beach - had a certain roguish army reporter vibe going on

Mmmph....! More cake!!:D

and Happy Birthday Squirrel! :smile1:
:smile1:

Wow, specialty cakes and David Gandy with a puppy. How is anyone supposed to compete?

Squirrel - I hope you have a wonderful birthday and you get to do something super fun. Like not be at work.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
So Con, go find my non festive bosses and suggest that. But puppies and hot men always make it better.

Alex and black leather jackets appears to be a theme at the moment. I like the shoot. I liked his hair for WMK but there is a slightly Bieber-esqueness to it the last two shots which I can't unsee.

Having said that, I like the whole vibe of the set. I'm used to seeing beaten up, good bodies when I watch my other half spar. This takes it up another level.

Thanks for the photos and links gals.

Squirrel, I hope your day is as delightful as all these wishes of Gandy, booze,Skars cake, and Ser Jaime presents suggests ;)

I can't really dig his hair when it's in his face. I kind of like the bruisey/boozy look

Skars seems to be very game - as Free notes, he's in a lot of editorial theme shoot. Like the awful kitsch of Bullett...

And shallow me still hopes ethical Tarzan still spends shirtless time since he's away from society.

He's done so in at least a couple of the interviews in the last month, though he didn't get this specific.

So Tarzan isn't dead, it's just resting?

I'm hoping this Tarzan is a good, non-cheesy, fun little adventure.

And to be honest, no loincloth, that would be cheesy.

Yes, let´s hope for the best. :smile1:
Alex has said in an interview (I think it was in craveonline.com):

"It’s a very, very good script," Skarsgård said. "It’s a really, really good script but it’s also a very big movie so it’s not super easy to just get a project like that off the ground." He also said that the director involved, David Yates, is one of the best directors in Hollywood.

As for the photoshoot: I hope there will be more photos to come because I didn´t like it very much so far. (But I liked the one photo where he is on the motorbike pulling off his gloves) :p

The Bullett shoot (shakes head). Though of course, I bought the darn thing.

I didn't really like the Interview one with Steven Klein, mainly because he appeared to be covered in motor oil. And his hair wasn't good in that one.

Shirtless for Tarzan, but of course! Though something other than a loincoth, I'm sure the clothing designers can come up with something attractive and non-cheesy.

I'm always up for a shirtless Skars, but I think Tarzan could also be a really good movie, regardless of how much bod is exposed. and think of all the fashion porn around that era, amazing suits, etc. Plus the scenery of Africa. I never thought this project dead, just in pre-production angst. It happens, scheduling, financing, getting the right cast/director in place.

Seems like they are dead keen on having Alex in the lead role, and giving him some high calibre co-stars.

Did any of you guys see "The Ghost and the Darkness" with Michael Douglas and Val Kilmer? I really enjoyed that, and though it got mixed reviews (and had a few cheesy moments) the general vibe of Africa vs colonisation was done reasonably well. It had a great atmosphere and the scenery was incredible.

If they lift "Tarzan" several notches above that scriptwise etc, I think it could be a great film.

David Yates is why I'm excited about him working on this project.

I saw GATD, and it's one of those movies that sticks with you long after you've seen it. The atmosphere and scenery are things that still resonate with me, which is why I still remember it. You nailed it. Fingers crossed that Tarzan goes forward, and that the script is good and evokes the same feelings. I want him to have a great movie to showcase his talent. Indies are good, but I would love him to be in a major production.

From tonight's LA premiere of The East (May 28, 2013).
He looks good.

those pics of Alex and Ellen Page will feed the rumors bout their alleged romance! He looks relaxed and happy - I loved GATD - very scary and based on a true story - LOL - the lions (stuffed) were in the Chicago Field museum but I believe Kenya sued to get them for one of their museums. Colonial theft and all that. Yates did Potter so perhaps we will get a lot of the mysterious scary vibe - but I think it also could be Indiana Jones-ish. But so long to wait!!

Is this the last of The East's never ending premiers?

I always knew the story of the Ghost and the Darkness because of those lions, being a Chicagoan! They didn't look so scary in person.

Skars looks suave. Ellen is wearing more makeup and outfit than I have ever seen her sport. Clawing at Alex's jacket won't help any discussion on them, for sure. Where is Brit and her crazy outfits? (rhetorical, Santress will supply us with tomorrow's round of official pics).

And thanks Syd - how did you break into my iPhone? That's our personal stash (in my head)!!
