Kayleigh - sounds like you had a great time - and no worries, I think you played it better by not knowing it was Joel!
Thanks Free for the recaps and Jooa for the update - why do I kind of giggle at the thought of needing an award winning costume designer when they've been underground in a bunker for a year?!
As someone who has done theatrical costuming in the past (albeit strictly amateur) - it takes a lot of skill and cast-iron balls to take high quality clothing, and distress it. Most distressing involves heavy chemicals, dirt, chains, rocks... but it's obvious when something is brand new v. worn constantly for a year.
That being said, they could just ask Skars to wear his own jeans on set...
Well, you definitely speak from experience (re costuming, not implying Skars jeans!). Agree, technical difficulties, but I want those poor folks to get some great period piece! Now I'm wondering if water and electricity work in the bunker, I'm guessing razors don't since he hasn't been shaving.
Of course we agree on Joel...we are JMTs :giggles:.
I totally agree. I saw Joel and he immediately peaked my interest. I don't usually go for what I perceive to be bad boys, but Joel seemed to have this quiet cool about him plus he was easy on the eyes
.
KB definitely hated WOW. Remember, that was the venue where she and Askars argued and she told him to go "blank" himself. KB must have looked around, didn't see any paps and said, "Oh helllllll to tha' no"!

A little more details about "Hidden" from ComingSoon.net:

Most people agree with you - there is a reason why the period pieces tend to pick up all the costuming awards!
Personally, I think a contemporary piece - or worse, a semi-historical where most people are still alive and remember the era - is a bit more difficult because most of the audience will recognize the flaws and pick them apart. Of course, I will give major props to anyone taking on Jane Austen or that era because, the JASNA society and its publications has created a lot of people who know just enough to be dangerous.
To get semi-close to being back on topic - Wouldn't Skars make an interesting Darcy? Or, Capt. Wentworth?
Thank you for two very interesting posts.
Skars as Darcy or Capt Wenworth? I dunno - but then my personal prejudices are coming into play again - can't think about Jane Austen novels without feeling physically sick, and I have tried to like them, but I just can't![]()
I was afraid I was derailing the conversation a bit (no pretty pictures after all) but I did feel obliged to give a shout out for the under-appreciated contemporary costume designers.
As for Jane - she's a bit of an acquired taste. You have to get over the fact that she holds most of her characters in contempt, possesses a pointed sarcasm wrapped in period prose, and has a rabid following of people who actually think her books are "so romantic!!!!
" Personally, I adore how bishy she is - but I fully understand why you don't like them.
I still think Skars would make a good Capt Wentworth - the guy who meets the former sweetheart who dumped him because of distance between them (physical and social) and who has to work through all of the rage and frustration of the past to discover who he is now.
Hi MikWe're just JMTs totally agreeing

Santress, other than the head looks photo-shopped on more obviously, that V-Man was a better fake than normal. Plus JJ just posted that Tom Brady is on the cover for the Fall issue. But whoever put that together has the right idea - more naked!![]()
