That puppy video is...I could wear out Vimeo. Seriously. Gah.

It was a theme! Hot Brits in honor of Closing Ceremonies! No one wants to hear his voice, agree. He just needs to lounge around with his washboard abs. There is no conversation in this one, Free, or the other David gets to do all the talking.

And in the Team Swede version, of course there is a bounty of participants who can apply!

I'm with Free on this - I would never know whether to launch myself on the abs, or cut up his food for him :p David Gandy doesn't hold out much more appeal for me, though I would be less worried about leaving him unattended around kitchen appliances (deep down, I think we all know that David Beckham has tried to iron his clothes while wearing them.)

Back on topic, I would trust Askars with most kitchen appliances.

Mik, with all due respect, I think we all know where you stand, but the fact that you refuse to budge in your opinions shouldn't really stop others discussing things if they want to, should it? Personally I think there's a long way between a lying famewhore and a Sainty McSainterson who can do no wrong, so I don't actually think it has to be one or the other.

Zola brought up a really interesting point (sorry, no clue how to multi quote!) about how we tend to project however we are feeling onto paparazzi pics, and I think that can be true to some extent about how we view celebrities we're interested in full stop, I think that is a big part of what makes forums like this interesting - half of what we speculate about Askars reveals a lot more about ourselves than him. :graucho: Years ago, I had an extremely ill advised fling with a somewhat famous musician, and once came across a fan account of observing us in his car (we were behind a car full of fans in traffic leaving a gig) - they were all convinced that we were in a fight, and had all sorts of theories as to what was going on, ranging from I was jealous of fan attention to he couldn't handle being with a woman who wasn't a blow up groupie type (I'm brunette - shocking!) ... the truth? I was jetlagged and half falling asleep and he was preoccupied with an interview he had to do early the next day with a journalist who had slated him before.

Which isn't to say that everyone (or even anyone!) here is sitting projecting their issues onto the Mount Askars by any means, but we just have to look at the gloriously entertaining Twihard meltdown to see what happens when fans think they really know what's going on with any celebrity... :roflmfao:

Gilda, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall telling anyone that they couldn't express their opinion just because I won't waiver in mine. I'm stating that I will stand by my opinion just like expect others to stand by theirs.

The second bolded part, I definitely agree with. It makes me re-examine what I will and will not tolerate.

Uh huhhhhh....Okay, spill it Gilda! What were you realllllllly doing in that car? :graucho: Just kidding ;)

I stand by my opinion(s), but I do see and understand your point..

Note*: The Twihard meltdown is a bit sad and funny at the same time. It really is like watching a train wreck.

Ahh, my mistake then - it seemed implied by your posts, but happy to be corrected!

Sadly, the truth is almost always a lot more mundane and run of the mill than many (not least publicists!) would like to believe :nogood:

No worries- I stand to be corrected at times, too ;)

Awwww Mannnn! 'Tis true the truth can be a bit mundane :shucks::giggles:

I'd take that if we could get him back in a priest collar, that was kind of hot...

And Gilda, no escaping - we want a few good groupie stories, those are always fun.

The point about projecting is very valid - what I was trying to say earlier but didn't do so well. It's easy to get caught up because gossip is observation, we then all come here with our own values/views/whatever and inadvertently put them on that person or determine they do or don't reflect them when a) we don't probably know at all and b) I'll speak for myself again, but unless they are breaking the law, a celeb doesn't have to be my role model or live my life so I'll snark but they are certainly allowed their own existence. But given you raised the Twi-hards, we do need our own meltdown YouTube video. That was glorious. Rooooooooobbbbbbb! And he's doing interviews today, so I'm sure they'll be back in full force.

First of all, a belated Happy Birthday to Buckeye, VampFan and Zola! I hope you all had a good time celebrating!

I just read through the discussion that took place, and I have to say that I always enjoyed reading this thread because it wasn't all "Oooooh, he's so pretty (multiple exclamation marks)". Of course, I really like what I see of Alex, otherwise I wouldn't be here. But I would also like to have the chance to point out that I don't like e.g. his occassional over-the-top drinking habits without being ripped to pieces by the blindly obsessed. And I agree with Gilda: this says a lot about my attitude towards alcoholic beverages.

Thanks Free.

I think every Ikea item should come with a tall Swede to help put everything together

Yes, please! The fight between me and "Pax" has just entered the 4th round and it's winning. :pullhair:

Good post TinyBee :smile1:

I think we all need to have an international pow-wow and sing a few verses of Kumbaya. ;)
It seems like we are all saying the same thing in differing ways. I like a good, passionate debate as much as the next person, and tomorrow it might be me going against the grain of the conversation. Its the way the thread rolls.

Yay, though I walk through the valley of snark
I will fear no sofa king ban

My opinion and emoticons shall comfort me.

Praise Lilith (and excuse the blasphemy)

I don't know what's more awesome - the poem or that photoshop - inspired!

and just to say it, yay for the nifty new emoticons. I'm going to work hard to get a reason to post the following (maybe my own version of Mad Libs!) :storm::pokey: and there's always a place in my heart for :spiderweb:

Of course! And just for a giggle, and off-topic: The Movies do "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-A-Lot". :D

Is the international pow-wow going to be in Stockholm, specifically Soder?

Wow, there's a lot gone on, but mostly only going to prove why this thread is such a fun place to hang out. Yes, we may disagree, but we're all still friends :hugs:

There are so many posts I want to reply to but I don't want to cause the multi-quote thingy to go into melt-down, so just very quickly, thanks for the additional birthday wishes, I had a great weekend, the only downer being, it is now definitely catching up with me :shucks: Oh well, if you can't take the punishment, and

ScaredSquirrel - I love the pokey stick thing too :pokey: and

IKEA flat packs - don't we just love them - jumping up and down and shouting, "I'm not Swedish" doesn't help either. Neither do cupcakes or mojitos - unless you have enough of them ;)

In an effort to make FreeSpirit and TinyBee feel slightly better I was looking for a website which showed IKEA flat pack disasters but it must have been taken down. I know it was there 'cos some of the photos couldn't help but make you feel better, and give you a good :giggles:

But look what came up when I switched to an image search :smile1: If only :p In fact on reflection, I'm surprised the whole image search thingy wasn't swamped out ;)
