Comments: Hi there. I've posted this before, and I believe Cobalt Blu said it was authentic. However, she noted that the hardware is not ruthenium, as stated in the listing, but brushed palladium. I just keep going back to this bag, but the hardware dissuades me from purchasing because I feel like the hardware is corroded, or somehow damaged/discolored. Am I wrong? Does the hardware look 'healthy' to you?? Will it have a darker/blackish shine to it rather than a silvery shine? I'm just trying to figure out this metal, and how to wear it. Many thanks in advance.

The hardware is brushed. (matte) . It can't have any shine at all. IRL brushed palladium is matte light gray.

The pictures are a bit dark, this is why the whole thing looks dark, including hardware. The hardware does not look damaged to me.

Can anyone help me out on this one?

Comments: I've been saving up for my dream Bolide for ages now, but a new one just isn't going to happen. This is my one chance to get one for a decent price (I can have it for less according to the seller). The seller said the leather might be an older Vache Liegee, and that the missing shoulder strap and rings to attatch it to means it is acutally a Bugatti and not a Bolide. Can anyone confirm this and please authenticate? TIA!

Authentic.
Old.
Bugatti for sure.
Leather is nothing I can recall...Could be Veau Graine. Could be Vachette Ardennes....

Thanks Mistikat. Actually, Duet listed it as "Natural." I just conflated the two. My mistake.

I know I'm going OT for a second, but is VN quite comparable to Barenia? Or does it just appear similar from photos?

They're different leathers with different properties. VN is like the vachetta used on Louis Vuitton. Barenia is heavily oil tanned and marks more, but VN also can mark. They're .... different. Try doing a search. There is a lot on both of these on the forum.

This is a real issue, and it is one that should lower the price of the bag. Hardware can be replaced by Hermes, but it is time-consuming and comes at a cost. At the very least you should find out what the cost of this would be and factor it into the price. I would not enjoy a bag with a bent turnkey and I would expect some real price negotiations with the seller.

I had a loose (wiggly) turnkey replaced and it was either $150 or $200 at H in Los Angeles, FWIW. It was wih a spa, so I forget which price was for which service. I think it took a month or 2, once again, my memory is just shot
