I must need a stronger script in my readers. I see it discussed but no mention of thoughts on pricing which was my question. I will call my eye doctor today if I'm really that blind. Thanks for your help!

I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and think that you were trying to be funny.

We don't usually make comments about pricing on the thread. Sometimes the person looking at the bag will make a personal comment about it, but it is not part of the usual answer.

I'm getting my haircut next week a half block away from this shop. I may have to go over and actually see this beauty. Any thoughts on the price?

A resale store is going to extract the pound of flesh with the mark-up. The store and the consignee have to make money in this transaction. The fact that the handle was replaced obviously adds to the price. It also makes me wonder about the rest of the bag if the handle was in such sad shape that it needed replacing. I think in the end, it will be a judgment call by you if it is worth it. No way to tell from the pix the feel of the skins. I don't think that lizard has the longevity of croc and for this price, you can get a croc from some of the trusted resellers.

Don't forget to look for fading and/or color change even though this is black.

Pics are awful. I've read about the website and it's a clever idea. No idea if people sell real or take advantage of it to sell fake but the stories can be amusing.

No way to tell from the pix given. I would think twice buying from a site like this anyway.

Thank you both! The OP must not have been too serious about it, she never bumped her own post, but I thought it was interesting. There are 3 bags there at the moment, but as you said, who knows the real motivation behind the listings.....

I read this thread each day, cheering for someone who's bag is authenticate or being disappointed for someone whose isn't. An ongoing drama. So many beautiful bags.

I'm noticing a trend which has been quietly and subtly addressed, but it hasn't helped. I am being less polite. The condescending, rude, and demanding requests or comments continue on the part of certain people asking for help.

The authenticators, who are providing FREE expert consultation, are offering to help anyone who makes a request.

The people making requests who've done their homework, maybe are Hermes collectors, or may be purchasing their first bag are the ones that deserve to benefit from the attention of the authenticators. Instead, for the authenticators, the thread is often cluttered, sidelined and time wasted by those who've "hopped on the Birkin bus" fad and really hope to get a real deal Birkin for a buck (or two).

These Birkin Bus folks demand when instead they should be requesting, fail to follow the rules of posting when they should at least do enough homework to comply with making it as easy as possible for the authenticators, post many requests as they're hoping to hit the Hermes jackpot on one of their hot searches, and sadly aren't even courteous enough to be polite or civil.

I can not imagine why these authenticators don't burn out and quit or tell some of these rude people exactly what they're thinking. To take advantage of a terrific group of volunteer experts is unfathomable. Personally, I feel that this thread should reflect the needs of the authenticators instead of letting some individuals making inane requests continue to flout civility. People do ease the burden for the authenticators by stepping in. Is there any reason why some requests can't be deleted so no one has to waste their time with frivolous requests or uncivil people?

Thank you authenticators and those who ease the issues in this thread. We appreciate your efforts which make this thread so much a part of the total Hermes experience.

bett, thanks so much for your thoughtful, insightful and lovely post. Lest you think that all of us are on mood enhancing drugs...the thought police do patrol this thread, though apparently, not so much for the posters requesting authentications.

Dear Bett

I think your gracious post above will give a much needed morale boost for the authenticators here whose work, as you recognise, is sadly often assumed (not just by posters) and seldom fully appreciated. A couple of years ago I used to frequently authenticate here but due to the combination of an additional work role and increasing lack of regard for the authentication help given I had to take a step back and not get too  ! However, your post has helped to restore my faith somewhat and I will try to help out a bit more than I've done so for a good while.

BW :D

In total agreement with bett!

I also want to take the opportunity to thank the authenticators for the education I have received and am still receiving by following their posts - ever since my (blush) naive beginnings when I stumbled into this forum, unaware of how little I knew - and for the sheer enjoyment of sensing the positive energy of so many true Hermès lovers. Thank-you!

Dear ladies, would you please help a newbie .. the one I was dreaming about this morning from a tpf member is already gone :balloon::balloon::balloon::balloon:

Comments: Authentic?

Thank-you.

These pix are not sufficient for authentication purposes. No close-up pix of important features of the bag. Either ask for and receive better pix, or pass and move onto another bag.:smile1:
