Which would make you happier?
Alternatively, if both make you equally happy- which category is currently the majority of your bag closet? If practical dominates, add fun. If fun dominates, add a practical one.
Thanks! I had not thought to look at it that way. I am leaning towards the Mz Wallace small Crosby Sling in Oyster. My son's girlfriend thinks it's too bright. I just need to think because I am tired of all the in and outs.

They just dropped a rasberry color but not in micro sutton. Of course they dropped the oyster color now. I am looking at it in the sling but can't decide if I want to spend that much on a funky bag that is only for summer for me. I am also looking at a Cuyana Mini Easy Zip tote in stone. Normally I would just get both, but I am trying to have a bit of self-control. Do I go practical or fun and funky?
Can you share photos?

There is one Mz metallic I would still like if they come back out with the color oyster in a style bag I would wear.
If the small Crosby sling is the bag you are considering now, then go for it. If not, and if there is the chance that it will just sit, tags on, like the metallic pale pink, then pass. Fun choices :)

ETA: I like the metallic pink that you have planned for summer

Thanks! I just ordered the sling. If it is not love when it comes, I will return it rather than have it sit. The pink bag can still get worn. We had three Inches of snow over the weekend, so it Just does not go with my Winter coat. Should be warmer by Friday and I can hardly wait.

The blue metallic color is best seen in the middle pic. The silver chèvre clutch is a vintage Hermes piece from 2004. Practically new inside. It was 600 USD during Covid SIP. The metallic stingray boy bag is a micro (pic is taken from below so it looks bigger and less metallic than IRL. It’s very silvery).

Metallic cabat PM. A rescue bag from a TPFer who sent it to a professional who basically sprayed it like the Tin Man. @docride, had to painstakingly strip off the Tin coating and restore the bag to its original metallic color (as per the original owner) . Here it is :)

I also have a B30 and a B35 in two shades of gunmetal gray metallic. Color by @docride
who is a genius with custom dye. The metallic gray shades are much richer IRL :)

ETA: as you can see, I prefer ‘dirty’ metallic shades and don’t mind patina
I love them all, especially the blue metallic clutch and the stingray!

Just looked up the size of the big Coach kiss lock clutch and am puzzled. The one on the German website is only approx. 30 by 30 cms. I had pictured it to be a lot bigger... Like maybe 50 x 30. All the people in the photos must be utterly petite.
Maybe it was shown on the runway in a different size than what ultimately shipped similar to a concept car vs actual release (?)

I’m so glad I canceled the order for the silver Dior. 🙌 I would have been feeling a lot of buyer’s remorse right now. I’m determined to have future “ins” be for something that adds a new, important, or stunning dimension to my collection.

It’s odd just how off I was in remembering the condition of my currently owned silver WOC. I’m glad I didn’t do any buying while my bags were helter skelter all over the house during construction. Who knows what mistakes I’d have made because my perspective was off.

My wanting to limit adds to truly new bag territory is helping me shop my collection. What strategies have you all been using to help you in enjoying and shopping your collection? Let’s share successful approaches or success stories.

@Bag peace, we’re currently in Las Vegas and this display outside the Louis Vuitton men’s store in The Bellagio caught my attention. Yet another that reminds me of Mr. Grumpy, so had to share!View attachment 6159166
And here’s another one! Still Vegas, but different LV boutique!
Okay, that has absolutely made. my. day! Thank you sooooo much for thinking of me and sharing it! I'm grinning like a fool! :hugs:

The displays are very much in the same style (although more elevated)! Sadly, Mr. Grumpy is currently at the doctor's (well, cobbler) getting a bit of plastic surgery!
The weight of his nose tore the leather. I didn't want to DIY that repair as I'd never forgive myself if I didn't do a good job. Hopefully he comes back good as new.
You can see from the picture that the lock is pretty hefty. The tear is jagged and right in the middle of his poor face, right above the lock.
Forgive me for re-using an old pic, but since he's not in hand....
This bag always brings me so much joy!

Great prompt. :)

I think my most useful hack to shopping my own is comparing anything I am dazzled by to the ones in my own collection. For example, if I see a blue bag that tempts me, I pull out my own blue bags and always find that I have something in a close enough colour, size or style that the new one would be redundant. It's crazy how often I am drawn to bags similar to what I already own. It's good that I'm consistent in my taste but, ridiculous that I somehow forget that I already have that niche covered and still want more.

I think you are right. I have looked at a few bags lately and most of the time I have something similar in closet. Having the photos of my bags in an album on my phone to compare has helped. I would have spent a lot more. I have been trying to list at least one item a week, not necessarily bags , but it helps remove clutter and reminds me how important having a bit of empty space is. I also have been trying to use all my bags. If I find that I don’t grab a bag, unless it is very special, out it goes.
