I no longer have a silver bag - the one I had was really showing wear. It made me sad to let it go because the leather was so marvelous - but the wear on the corners was really bothering me.

I'm sorry that happened. Metallics can be delicate. I'm touching wood when I say this, but since the terrible booze bag many years ago I've been luckier with pricier metallics. My Gunmetal BV hobo has a little wear, but I have had it since 2014 and worn it Summers long since.
Absolutely. The bag I remember from the store was and looked like good quality. The bag I received was cheap and tacky.Sounds like the quality went downhill

I don't own any metallic bags, only two slgs. A long wallet (purple) and a woc (gunmetal) . Both are Anselm Reyle x Dior.
Maybe one day I'll get lucky and score a handbag from this collection. There's a black Lady Dior with the cannage " all off" ...

The blue metallic color is best seen in the middle pic. The silver chèvre clutch is a vintage Hermes piece from 2004. Practically new inside. It was 600 USD during Covid SIP. The metallic stingray boy bag is a micro (pic is taken from below so it looks bigger and less metallic than IRL. It’s very silvery).
Metallic cabat PM. A rescue bag from a TPFer who sent it to a professional who basically sprayed it like the Tin Man. @docride, had to painstakingly strip off the Tin coating and restore the bag to its original metallic color (as per the original owner) . Here it is
I also have a B30 and a B35 in two shades of gunmetal gray metallic. Color by @docride
who is a genius with custom dye. The metallic gray shades are much richer IRL
ETA: as you can see, I prefer ‘dirty’ metallic shades and don’t mind patina

Thank you. I fell in love with it and got it at resale for a deal. I think people were stumped at how tiny the interior is, but I felt that the small size was not as cute. (I’m not exactly practical

Thank you! some of these bags are resale deals, and all of them are structurally sound. In addition, I’ve always had good experiences with metallic finishes (no peeling or problematic patina, though I like a bag to show it’s natural age). Yes! I love my fun pink one - it does hold a lot!
They just dropped a rasberry color but not in micro sutton. Of course they dropped the oyster color now. I am looking at it in the sling but can't decide if I want to spend that much on a funky bag that is only for summer for me. I am also looking at a Cuyana Mini Easy Zip tote in stone. Normally I would just get both, but I am trying to have a bit of self-control. Do I go practical or fun and funky?
Which would make you happier?
Alternatively, if both make you equally happy- which category is currently the majority of your bag closet? If practical dominates, add fun. If fun dominates, add a practical one.
