Oh my - so beautiful!

As another tall person, you bring up a good point about how a bag needs to look good on us too! A too small bag just looks weird - though I don’t feel that way about a small crossbody.
I'm not tall but too small bags don't look good on me. The proportions look off. It looks like I'm carrying a toy. Too large bags make me look like a kid playing dress up.

@More bags You have a great memory!

I can't believe this bag is 4.5 years old  Just out the box and with matching silk Baiadera scarf

BTW, for anyone thinking about investing pre-loved, the velvet is on a par with feathers or flower petals for delicacy. However, it's also one of my most special bags and not only do I  it, I don't regret buying it. There were another 2 runners-up in terms of SS20 variations, the 'Deauville' and the navy polished calf with red/blue velvet web-stripe.

Like me, @Straight-Laced has both the classic 1955 shoulder bag and the Lady Web (with horse-bit - from 2015) which is now a good pre-loved alternative https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/new-gucci-1955-horsebit-bag.1015559/page-16

I see so many luxury houses using the horse-bit on things including Hermes and Ferragamo, I don't feel they're Gucci dupes, more nod-to-equestrian.
Your bag is beautiful. I remember the navy polished calf version and if it had been in stock when I bought mine it would have been a difficult choice between the two!

Thank you @Cookiefiend!

I had such a hard time choosing. I could have literally bought all three had they not been predominantly the same bag in navy, navy navy. I think the clincher was the matching scarf which I'd already tried on and noticed how superiorly thick the silk still was.

I used to have a Celine Box bag (does anyone remember the buzz around those?) I didn't wear it much, it kept tipping or something weird that made me always worry. The price kept going up and up, and I sold it on to my sister for what I paid minus a bit of depreciation.

Isn't it funny how 2 such similar bags can be 'night and day'. I could have 10 x 1955s and be happy, but my Celine annoyed the f*** out of me.

The weather here was horrible today. Cold and grey and dark and wet. I wore a leather Rick Owens jacket zipped-up all the way over a wool jumper, tee and vest, and under my military-style coat + hat and scarf. 🥶

I need to find a nice bag to wear and cheer myself up tomorrow - maybe I will go bright red with my Gucci Aphrodite or bright green with my H Garden Party.

I can’t say as though I have a bag I use that cheers me up on a dismal day since I’m all about using a bag that will withstand whatever kind of dismal it is. (It’s snowing here right now, so my Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene Neverfull MM was a perfect choice!) That said, what does cheer me up on a dismal day is looking at the fun bags I have in my closet and with an eye toward better weather. Provided the weather doesn’t disrupt plans (we’re in for multiple storms in the coming weeks), I’ll be some place warm and sunny soon, so am looking forward to bags that are the opposite of what I’ve been carrying all season!

Such great advice! I wonder, what's in your emotional toolbox, if you don't mind sharing?
I've got a small morning and afternoon ritual going of having a cup of coffee (morning) and tea (afternoon) in total silence and in the fresh air. That little 20 minutes just savouring my drink and breathing has helped a lot with my emotional regulation.
A little gentle exercise also helps with working off any anxious energy, as does taking my bags out and cleaning/conditioning them. :flowers:

Of course, I'd love to share. I've been doing a lot of breath work and meditative practices. I also do Zumba once a week and walk often. I find that when I'm not taking care of my baseline needs, my mental health suffers. I find that any kind of creative process helps too. Clothing and dressing up can be a creative process.

Our weather hasn't been great either. Today was supposed to be a 'nicer' day but it is windy and chilly. Lately I've been finding a lot of joy from my Soho bags. I love how easily they open and how much they carry. Sometimes I come on here and admire everyones beautiful items. I was lurking in a vintage Coach subforum - so many gorgeous bags! All of them are such works of art.

It is a cheerful bag!

Love my Soho Disco, but it's not practical this time of year at all (orange nubuck). Soho was a great line.

Coach is very underrated brand. There's not much between top of line Coach and luxury brands. Plus, they can do practical.

My colleague has a Coach backpack, and though I don't usually like back packs it's smart and very functional. Can't do better for work. I have two backpacks but they are fashion only, a Burberry and a Chanel. Both about as practical as butterflies in a blizzard. One is wool and the other has chain-straps. Chanel are my least practical bags - still they je ne sais quoi.

Once you discover vintage Coach, you'll judge everything else against it. Once I compared a Coach and a Gucci that were similar styles from the 90s. The Gucci had broken where the strap attached. The Coach seemed much sturdier.

The all leather vintage Coach bags hold up better than anything else I've seen. If you appreciate nice leather, you'll love them. I fell down the rabbit hole once I discovered them. When I started collecting them, the prices were reasonable but now they are more costly.

I think yellow is very cheering - like carrying your own personal ray of sunshine.
My vote would be for my yellow Ferragamo Trifolio

(Granted I wouldn’t probably carry it in a monsoon, but it could handle getting rained on a bit)

I had a black Celine Box Bag! It’s no longer in my collection, perhaps that’s why I can justify looking at the Celine Triomphe bag.

@SakuraSakura adding on to @papertiger ’s comment, I also have a Gucci Soho Disco, mine is black, and it has served me well over the past 8 years.

Love this! It's the perfect yellow! It would certainly make me happy.

For dismal weather, I like to carry one of my Brahmins. They seem impervious to the weather. My favorite is this one.brahmin lane multi rainbow manifesto 20221128_134502.jpg

Sunshine in a handbag - great bag and scarf pairing!

@papertiger re: Which bag cheers you up on a dismal day?
I agree, colour will lift my spirits, the one I’ll share is this Chanel Cloudy Tie and Dye Purple, Blue & Pink Mini.
@Bag peace you recently asked if I’ve been wearing this. It was my second most frequently carried bag last year, and it joined my collection part way through the year!
