Clearing my closet is getting hard . Just put up my blue and red Tory . It is a stunning bag but it is not getting worn. If it doesn’t go I won’t be sad but I feel like it should be worn not stuck on a shelf and just looked at.

I think you should throw caution to the wind and just wear it!

Opinion on the beaded gold and pink 1960s beaded bag upper right?

Is it as worthy as my other beaded bags and purses - and these are just a selection (I have from circa 1910)

I must say I like the geometric way the beads are laid out mixed with the stylised flowers.
Yes. Love that one actually :D I once got rid of a white plastic beaded vintage purse (not sure why the white plastic looked so much better than modern) and also a. Washed out coral satin
Textured purse. I don’t know what I was thinking. I still miss them. I find that these can be easily stored (don’t take up too much room) so better to be safe than sorry 😂

It's gorgeous: I love the pattern!

I'm behind on the thread due to a sudden deluge of things to do including preparing for a small get together this weekend. Still haven't decided on the menu but it will be a casual evening.

Completely agree with this!

I have a tendency to baby the things I really love and not wear them enough. I don't think I wrote down any goals in the thread this year but from now onwards, I have decided to not worry about dings and suchlike and just wear the things I enjoy the most.

Thank you, OK I guess I'm keeping little Miss Sixties :ghi5:

Sometimes it takes me a long while to use something, but once I start to use it, I kick myself for waiting so long.

Enjoy your get together, have fun to the max!

I think this happens (taking a long while to use something) when we have lots of options in the closet, some from many years ago and we forget about it or overlook it for something more recent. This reminds me that I must go look for a couple of vintage clutches that are somewhere in my basement. I am now worried because they're just stored in a plastic box and hopefully they're still okay. One is a white beaded kisslock with a cross stitch or maybe petit point embroidered rose design in the center surrounded by white beads. I have no idea how this came to be in my possession: I think a relative probably left it behind long ago. The other is a small velvet cluth with silver (or was it gold?) embroidery that belonged to my grandmother that was a gifted to her by her globe-trotting sister who always gave interesting gifts. Anyway, I need to find them soon. And now I need to get cracking and start preparing for the get-together, but when I have a moment, I will look for those clutches!

I find I do this. I actually carry the bags I don't love as much more than the bags I absolutely love because I'm afraid of ruining them. it would make me a lot sadder to damage the things I really love.

I find I’m doing the same. If the forecast calls for rain, I shy away from the bags I love the most. We have frequent pop-up showers here on otherwise sunny days. I’m planning to get a portable, water-resistant tote to pop in my bags so that I can carry them more often and pop them in the tote when rain looks imminent.
