Yes, they were the original jeans.

When they became mass produced, the Japanese bought the cotton weaving looms from Levi’s, hence the craze for Japanese denim-but they charged a massive premium, so Japanese denim can cost $3-400, or for special editions even $1-2000!

All woven on the old Levi’s looms..

I believe the only American denim left is Cone denim(which Levi’s might use for special editions).

When I was a denim head I knew the mill of the denim from all of my jeans (Diesel use Turkish ISKO).

That's right. There are some good Japanese brands around too. Evisu is now Chinese owned and very commercial, but there are others.

I’m long since back from my wellness retreat but have been busy so my absence here has been extended.

The retreat was not as good as I had hoped so I actually came home early. I’ve made more progress on weight loss, healthy eating habits and quality sleep since I’ve been home, so I know that was the right decision.

With that and everything else I’ve been dealing with, I haven’t had a spare moment to think of bags let alone buy any. But, with my weight loss (a significant amount with quite a bit to go), I can fit into more of my clothes which has motivated me to use more of my bags. That’s been a lot of fun. I like too look nice when I go out but just wasn’t motivated to try before.

:hugs:

Welcome back.

I'm sorry the retreat wasn't good as you hoped, but I am glad you feel better motivated through your weight loss and are having fun with bags again.

I gave my mum two items of clothing yesterday - she stopped by to pick up my dad who had stayed over and asked to borrow a cardigan and a pair of leggings. I gave her a cardigan from a brand she likes, the colour will look better on her than on me.

When I spend time in my little summer cottage where I really only have the essentials, I feel so much calmer. Getting rid of some more clothes and unused items in the city isn't going to make a huge difference but it's a step in the right direction. Of course my son spotted a bowl we haven't used in years and rescued it from the donation bag... I'll make him take it when he moves out in a year or two!

I may get a smaller brown bag for fall - eyeing the small taupe Puzzle but I'd also like something very dark brown. On the practical and also very affordable end of the spectrum:

Or this reversible tote from Radley, who recently hired a designer who used to work for Loewe.

I totally approve of brown! I like Radley, they have some very loyal customers which tells me that there is a consistency there.

I am eyeing, or rather waiting for the new Fendi Spy in Eel (not out yet). The colours in normal leather for Summer didn't exit me at all.

I was shown an original Fendi spy at a concession. I had always wanted one, and it was the version I most wanted (brown lamb) but it upon inspection, it wasn't the quality I expected. I even wondered if it was authentic. Obviously I didn't buy.

I am hoping to see the eel version. If I did buy it would be my first Fendi bag ever.

I have a pair of Joe's Japanese denim jeans and I can completely understand the craze. They are so soft and comfortable.

Ooh there's a brown Spy! I like the twisted handles.

It's AW25 but not out yet. It's a red brown or a dark brown-red, not sure. There are also eel boots (the ones in the pic are black).

I love the look this time around, but it’s not for my proportions or style of dress. However, for that price, I’d rather buy an amazing vintage one . :)

The price is shocking. I wasn't impressed by the old one when I finally saw it IRL. So, although I'll go with an open-mind when they're in, the new spy would have to be out-of-this-world beautiful for that price. I could buy a nice pair of k-h boots (gucci has several interesting mid-heel variations next season including in olive) plus a silk Flora blouse and have change for a piece of vintage jewellery or an H CSGM - all out of £4.1K.

I bought the navy trousers from Cos though. It makes sense since I have 2 pairs of brown suit trousers, and countless black of every shape.

Please let me know how you'd style narrow-ish pure cotton flat-front suit trousers? They will not go with any of my velvet jacket / lived-in look I had in mind for next season. Possibly the dark green or purple may be OK.

I could go ultra-minimalist and monotone with a navy cashmere roll or V neck. I've a TF for Gucci iridescent, metallic, navy leather blazer (somewhere) an oversized navy (men's) blazer with brass buttons, my tailor-made early-60s-looking wool jacket in navy check with velvet collar, navy Burberry Camden (straight, short trench) a Burberry navy single-breasted (very slimline) wool coat with hidden buttons. I don't think I would like to wear black or brow with them.

The whole late-80s/early 90s glamour is back too as are pencil skirts. Funny, to think everyone may getting into narrow skirts after years of oversized, wide-leg trousers and long skirts. Suits me, but I will believe it when I see it.

I’ve never liked pencil skirts as I have a small waist and larger thighs. It’s not a good style for me at all.

I’ll have to look up what late 80’s / early 90’s glamour means. I can’t picture that unless it like something from the cast of Dynasty and I hope it’s not that.

Kind of, defiantly the clip-on large earrings. Minus the Dynasty hair and makeup I hope

I like pencil skirts but I can't wear DMs with them and they would definitely slow down my commute
