I like most shapes but it's a pain to switch styles without planning as the proportions have to completely change. I'm Med height, so if I go wide and long on the bottom I have to go short and tight on the top or vice versa.
That's the way to go. It needs to be balanced. Maybe because I'm busty I feel I have to go narrow on the bottom? I can't do short tops. I like having boots on the bottom of my skinny jeans to balance it out too. It took me a long time to get used to skinny jeans with sandals because it just looked too narrow on the bottom.

Although I've noticed with patterned swimsuits, designers almost always try to put the darker parts at the bottom and lighter parts at the top. That just makes me look even bustier with even tinier hips.

I like Christian Louboutin boots (surprisingly they’re comfy to me whereas the shoes are not.). I also like some non designer brand boots like Schutz. To me, as long as they’re comfy, stylish and real leather they’re an option.

Most of my boots (90%?) are high heeled with almond toe. I haven’t been wearing herls a much due to this lengthy recovery so my feet will have to get re-used to them quickly in the fall.

Today, I’m in my Jimmy Choo large caramel Bon Bon bucket bag. IMG_5498.webp

I was so excited I was to get it. Now, after a few wears, I’m happy to own it but don’t feel any excitement.

Candidly, I really don’t feel “excitement” about the vast majority of my bags. After this long gap of not really being able to wear my bags, I’m clear headed enough to see that for me the anticipation of acquiring isn’t sustained through the actual long term owning - no matter what the bag is.

I’ve also realized that styles change so quickly that it’s nearly impossible to stay on trend without regular acquisition. That was never my goal. I wanted to build a collection that could carry me through life and stay eternally fashionable without constant addition.

These two realizations are really cooling my desire to buy any bag which is why I’ve gone back into my bunker on ban island. It’s cozy there and I can ignore the buzzzzzz of bag temptation.

Anyone else in a restful not interested in buying mindset? If so, I’d love to hear your reason(s).

Not a premium brand, but my favorite boots are these by Ugg. They aren't their normal boots. I get complimented on them all the time. They have a thin layer of fur inside so they are comfortable too. And water resistant!
I have a pair similar to this that I adore. I also have some Frye brown engineer boots that I will have re-soled because I love them that much.

I'm not planning on buying any bags in the near future but I wouldn't say I'm entirely restful: there are still bags I want. I just don't have the space for them or the lifestyle to regularly use and rotate a larger collection. I would like to tweak my bag collection a little bit including switching out my jumbo (which feels a bit big for me personally) for maybe a reissue 225 or 226, and my pastel blue Trendy CC for a black one (or maybe a different bag altogether). But I'm not energized at the thought of selling, especially in the current market so I have just let things be.

I had a mini closet clear out of old clothes and gave it to my gf to donate-she gets vouchers for H and M.
I gave well worn pieces, tops, bottoms, a coat and a jacket from 2019.

I have trouble parting with older pieces, but like wearing well fitting clothes..I’m trying not to regret anything, knowing that I can replace with better fitting pieces.

I’ll also give my Niece and gf a couple of jackets/coats which are far too big and oversized on me, and replace them with well fitting alternatives.

My Niece loves anything which I give her, and my gf seems to be the same, she said I would be “a really cool Auntie!”, although we are actually very close friends.

I will be away during New York Fashion Week SS26, but will be following it nevertheless!

It's weird how manufactures think we all like the same thing and have the same bodies.

Dyou think we all kind of go through cycles? When you browse through the rest of the forum, it seems like people go through a collector phase and then just calm down. And then regret some purchases. And then don't really "collect" with the same fervor again.

Don't know what that will mean for LVMH & Co. Especially as all the young gen-z women that I know are actually very well disciplined (at least compared to me!) in buying bags, even when they can afford them.

On the hand, we're told Gen Z are obsessed about Labubu and other trends.

I don't think ridiculously priced bags, jewellery, clothes, or any other luxury item beyond maybe a the odd bit of makeup should ever be targeted and marketed towards men and women in their teens and twenties.

Yes-I wore Chanel from age 16(despite looking about 10!)- I went into the boutique and bought the smallest silk blouse, and had the smallest wool skirt altered-, and Valentino from about 19, but I was definitely not the norm, and my older girlfriends said I dressed as if I were 40.

I didn’t follow trends, I was a Graff client in my teens(when they were unknown virtually in the West), but I am definitely not the average client or similar to Gen Z in any way, despite having a 26 year old friend.

I’m still a classicist now and haven’t changed my style much-marketing doesn’t affect me very much at all tbh.

However I realise that young people rely now on social media and Influencers and keeping up with their friends and “Everybody”, I’m not atypical.

Agree, baby bootcut and straight styles (depending on the width at the bottom) don't always fit well over boots unless it's a sock boot or a boot with a short narrow opening. If you like boots, skinny or narrow pants are the best way to showcase a nice pair of boots. Cropped flares and cropped wide-leg styles also allow for showing off a nice boot since they're cropped but cropped styles are not my thing. The other way is to wear a sweater dress or a fall dress with long boots which is a cute look but will not work in slushy snow or severe weather. I have two pairs of knee length boots: one in black leather and one in a lovely cognac brown soft leather. I pair these boots with skinny pants. For really bad weather I have winter boots and rain boots, all paired with thick knit skinny style pants or skinny jeans. My other fall boots are all ankle boots with one or two reaching about mid-calf length if even that. I like my ankle boots but I don't like them so much that I am willing to wear skinnies to show them off, lol, so only my longer boots get paired with skinny jeans which is actually a nice look.

Speaking of boots, question for the group: What are your favorite pair of boots? What kind of boots do you love? Do you coordinate your boots with your handbags in terms of color? Share your boot collection (Pics of bags and boots welcome.)

I love a sort of "taller" ankle boot if that makes sense. Tall enough to stuff the skinny jeans inside but don't quite go past mid-calf.
I have 1 pair of Hermes and SL boots of that style and they are on rotation every fall/winter. The Hermes are more clean and sleek while the SL are a little edgier.

And then I go all the way to the other side of the spectrum with over the knee boots. I have that classic suede Stuart Weiztman OTK boot that we all went crazy about in the 2000s/2010s lol. But I left them in China with my in-laws because I had a little too much fun shopping  and couldn't bring everything back.

Every fall/winter I debate on knee high boots. Being in California I probably would only wear them fall/winter. But I also have trouble finding a pair that fits my large calves. It's not a great combo to have narrow feet but large calves.
And I'm not into the sort of slouchy folded knee high boot. I prefer the kind that are sleek and hug the calves.

Basically all of my boots are black. I do have a pair of Burberry sock boots with the classic plaid print but I'm debating on letting them go. I realize they're such a pain to take off. I need my husband to help me pull them off lol. I've also realized that when it comes to boots, I prefer ones that I can slip in and out more easily. (The SW OTK boots have enough give/stretch that I can still take them off in a hurry.)

💯 I buy only one or two permanent bags a year, if that. I don’t count a few straw bags, but I don’t need any more of those.
I intend on wearing all of my bags for many years. I derive most fun from my RTW, which I buy to suit my taste. And, if I love it, I wear it irrespective of current trends. But, I buy less but better. This year, except for some travel/ insect repellant clothing lol, I can count the number of RTW and bags I’ve bought.

Anyone else in a restful not interested in buying mindset? If so, I’d love to hear your reason(s).

I don't know if I'm in a not interested in buying mindset. But I'm hitting my pet peeve of keeping things that I almost never wear mindset lol.
Mainly for bags and shoes. I get annoyed each year at these items every season that I either don't wear at all or maybe wear 1-2 times. I know it's not a great time to sell, but my urge of purging them may be stronger than keeping them lol.

I have never had sellers regret and I know when I've mentally/emotionally let go of things, usually long before they're finally sold.

I may just be saying goodbye to some things this month. 🤔
