I cannot believe that since January 2023(when I really was very minimalist), my closet has literally doubled, and is still increasing.
I'd love to be that disciplined person who has capsules and buys only what fits their style, etc etc, but I think the reality is that we go through cycles, especially for clothing. So long as you love it and will wear it!

Papertiger I hope things improve soon. I just ordered three pairs of jeans. Hoping something fits when it comes. My husband shrunk my favorite rag and bone jeans . I went cheaper this time . I ordered from quince and the gap.
I’m sorry your husband shrank your jeans-I had a pair of Rag and Bone jeans-my Niece purloined them when she was 9!

My purchases from last month have arrived and I love them.
The bag is from Aimee Kestenberg. The leather is soft and gorgeous and the bag has tons of pockets. I was torn between this color and a purply gray but this color was cheaper and I think more unique for my collection as I have several gray bags already. I've already carried it, which is a sign that I really love it.

The flower charm was given to me by a sweet tpfer and the Dracula charm came from etsy.View attachment 6211299View attachment 6211302
Adorable dracula charm!
I have been noticing a lot of fall offerings in rich chocolate brown (several items including dresses, tops, footwear etc). Question for everyone: Is anyone planning on getting anything in this color for the upcoming season?
I absolutely hate brown clothing on me and am not a fan of it in general so this is a hard pass for me.
I have been dealing with DH stuff for two-weeks straight. One step forward and two steps back. I am so tired and numb if I am brutally honest. Having my stitches out hardly registered (I still need to buy supplements). My dear auntie and cousin have been great as well as my colleagues at work. I am very grateful for these amazing people around me (all of you too - and I know so many are going through such difficult times too) :hugs:

I tried on a pair of cotton navy trousers today - just Cos, not expensive, but I did NOT buy. They looked great, but I need to check what I have already. They would make a great addition for AW working wardrobe. I can't see them with a velvet jacket nor tweed. They are very 'Dramatic Classic' if you know what that is (I've been typed DC :blah: but I usually hate the recommended looks on me). All I can think of to go with the trousers is a blouse or shirt, maybe tank-top or waistcoat (vest) then something 'mad' as outerwear. Maybe a graphic tee worn with a fedora hat. I don't want to think I am stress shopping though, and as you know I already bought a McQueen dress this week so I need to cool off from the shopping fever :sweatdrop:.
You have been dealing with so much I can understand why your overloaded system has gone numb. Be easy and gentle with yourself.

I’ve never aspired to a capsule wardrobe as mixing and matching just a few things would bore me quickly. I agree with you that if we love something and will definitely wear it that it’s welcome in the wardrobe.

I’m long since back from my wellness retreat but have been busy so my absence here has been extended.

The retreat was not as good as I had hoped so I actually came home early. I’ve made more progress on weight loss, healthy eating habits and quality sleep since I’ve been home, so I know that was the right decision.

With that and everything else I’ve been dealing with, I haven’t had a spare moment to think of bags let alone buy any. But, with my weight loss (a significant amount with quite a bit to go), I can fit into more of my clothes which has motivated me to use more of my bags. That’s been a lot of fun. I like too look nice when I go out but just wasn’t motivated to try before.

Sorry to hear the retreat wasn't that good. Well done for deciding to leave and working toward your goals on your own!

Loving that, I can see it would pep-up a pencil skirt or black cigarette pants. I have a H&M near me but I will pause on RTW for at least a week because I have to remember the style(s) I had in mind,
The Cos navy cotton trousers you tried on sounded a good purchase as well(I like navy!).
Don’t forget about those..

Next week I’m going back to Fenwicks for a sleeveless pink satin blouse which I saw, which will go well under several of my blazers(and be worn the following Saturday for a birthday party), and a new black T-shirt from Victorias Secret.

I worked for Levi's headquarters in San Francisco a very long time ago. We could buy jeans from sample sales for $5.

Levi's, especially those that are closest to the original 5 pocket design, have always been cool.
Yes, they were the original jeans.

When they became mass produced, the Japanese bought the cotton weaving looms from Levi’s, hence the craze for Japanese denim-but they charged a massive premium, so Japanese denim can cost $3-400, or for special editions even $1-2000!

All woven on the old Levi’s looms..

I believe the only American denim left is Cone denim(which Levi’s might use for special editions).

When I was a denim head I knew the mill of the denim from all of my jeans (Diesel use Turkish ISKO).

Welcome back!

I’m having a mini closet clear out-I’ve had a lot of new clothes recently, and am sure I’ll have lots more this year.

Partly thanks to going out regularly with my gf, who is 26(although much bigger than me), I’ve become much more toned in the last year, and I hope this continues…obviously a hysterectomy would set me back..muscle is heavier than fat so I haven’t really lost more than 7-8 pounds in a year, but am in better shape.

I’ll be getting rid of anything that no longer “sparks joy”, or has been updated, or no longer fits as well as I’d like.

I always remember that @880 ‘s DH insists on fit, and I have some pieces which are now too large, or just simply past their best.

I dress primarily for myself, but having an SO to dress for encourages me to always try to make an effort.

My taxi driver to my parents’ yesterday was only 41, but tried to chat me up, and much to my boyfriend’s amusement, I actually attracted a wave and a wolf whistle from a young boy in a group , who couldn’t have been more than 11 last week!!

I’ll donate the clothes and try not to add up how much they cost..

I love quince's silk slip dresses. They're very flattering on my body type and quality is okay for the price if washed properly.

Let us know about the quality of the jeans!

I gave my mum two items of clothing yesterday - she stopped by to pick up my dad who had stayed over and asked to borrow a cardigan and a pair of leggings. I gave her a cardigan from a brand she likes, the colour will look better on her than on me.

When I spend time in my little summer cottage where I really only have the essentials, I feel so much calmer. Getting rid of some more clothes and unused items in the city isn't going to make a huge difference but it's a step in the right direction. Of course my son spotted a bowl we haven't used in years and rescued it from the donation bag... I'll make him take it when he moves out in a year or two!

I may get a smaller brown bag for fall - eyeing the small taupe Puzzle but I'd also like something very dark brown. On the practical and also very affordable end of the spectrum:

Or this reversible tote from Radley, who recently hired a designer who used to work for Loewe.
