2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.



• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.





So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

August 13 - Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta

August 20 - Burberry, Celine

August 27 - Coach, Chanel

September 3 - Chloe, Dior

September 10 - Dooney & Bourke, Fendi

September 17 - Ferragamo, Givenchy

September 24 - Goyard, Gucci

October 1 - Hermes, Kate Spade

October 8 - Loewe, Longchamp

October 15 - Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs

October 22 - Michael Kors, Miu Miu

October 29 - Mulberry, Prada

November 5 - Proenza Schouler, Rebecca Minkoff

November 12 - Saint Laurent, Tods

November 19 - Tory Burch, Valentino

November 26 - Bags by Jewelers: Bulgari, Cartier, Tiffany Co, Van Cleef & Arpels. Alternatively, the pillboxes, compacts and other lovelies made by jewelers that fit in your bag.

December 3 - independent artisans and custom bags.

Buying is stressful. Shopping is letting yourself exist in an attractive space surrounded by pretty or interesting things and people who want you to like them.

That's profound!

But ironically the 2 which aroused a lot of interest turned out to be the 2 which I wanted to use, and didn’t want to let go of!

How funny! Well, at least now you'll be motivated to use them since you've discovered you like them enough to keep. Do you rotate your bags often or just use one for months on end?

I have since painted other normal sized things for him.

I'm sure they've been gorgeous. I get silly-happy whenever you update your avatar with one of your new paintings. This current royal cat has made me smile every time I've logged on!

12 sounds like a good number to me - one for each month of the year Better make it 13 so you can give 1 to your niece

I’m sorry I’m a bit of a technophobe and quoted your whole post!
For a large part of every year I use my Jimmy Choo navy crocodile bag..then I panic that I’m going to wear it out and rotate..I don’t rotate often ..I carry the others for a few months at a time..
One of the ones I’m not selling I’m going to use as from January 1st, the small one I’m going to use as an evening bag, unless I need a blue bag, when I’ll use my Laurus ostrich bag..
But selling the 2 I liked would have left a gap, with a shopping list!

Costing me Far more than I would have made by selling them..thank goodness I realised!

Here is my Laurus Geneva Prussia Blue ostrich bag
(Although it’s very small and I will buy a larger Laurus bag, probably in crocodile, but I’m not sure where I’d sell this one)
I also have a navy real crocodile bag which I can’t picture as it looks like a Birkin..

Also brand new unused(I was going to sell but realised that it was only because they weren’t high end)- 2 Ted Baker pebbled black leather with matching wallet and cardholder bags, , a mock croc navy patent leather Bagitali bag which was gifted to me…which I’ll probably gift , and a Mario Valentino large Divina tote, which I May gift to my niece, but occasionally comes in usefull!
Also a limited edition Pierotucci Navy Vachetta monogrammed travel bag
8 bags total, sorry duplicate pics(no croc bag)

Beautiful collection. My favorites are the ostrich and the barrel bag.

@jblended I totally agree: with the perfect professional equipment the sky would be the limit, I believe. Just imagine all the possibilities when one doesn´t have to worry whether a seam will fit under the machine or wonder where to find things like glue, thread or decent hardware... but well, as long as one is not a professional or a business it´s fairly unlikely to have the perfect equipment and the makeshift solutions / translating the "proper way" into what´s possible are a great challenge- in my case: proving that I actually have one super power: polishing poo.

I am sorry both items didn’t make you excited. Which style of the Florentine leather did you get? I like them but most styles are to heavy for me.

Thank you. It's okay. I got this one, same color as this. But got from the outlet on sale for $120, which seemed like a great price. I also had heard this style of leather was heavy, so decided to try with a smaller bag.

I’ve enjoyed reading the last 13 pages or so and catching up. We were away last week and i wound up listing and selling a bunch of bags when we returned so its been hectic…… Just submitted another 6 bags to yoogis today for quotes too. I have not popped in here enough, but this thread has provided great motivation for me……after i took stock of how many unused/never carried bags i still have, i’ve been selling at warp speed!

Nov stats
Bags in - 0
Bags out - 14 listed last week & 10 sold in like 5 days
Bag charms in - editing, it was 5 this month
Scarves in - twillies/1 & scarves/3
Bags carried…..need to start tracking this, but maybe 6?

On Winter potions for dry skin….i feel for all of you. Since we moved south, it does not really get cold except for a few days here and there. I do not miss the dry winter skin
……but this is what i use and its wonderful……very hydrating! And smells lovely.

Black Friday shopping….we were in Charleston and i was pretty good…..picked up a few things at Savannah Bee (honey, candles, creams — these make nice stocking stuffers), stopped in at LV and they had one Christmas ani charm with the sailboats in stock so i had to…

And i was a little impulsive the week before when AFF sent a sale email…picked up 2 bag charms and 3 scarves i do not need lolol…..

I missed Valentino week so here are my 2 bags. They are both a bit off trend now, but i love rockstuds so these will stay. I can’t carry pink bags, but i can carry this one. It works really well with sundresses, i just love the white rockstuds.
