2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

August 20 - Burberry, Celine

August 27 - Coach, Chanel

@jblended, here’s another mod shot for you, this time of the Coach x Peanuts bag. Please excuse the mess in the background! I’m really very neat, I swear.

@cowgirlsboots, I wonder if train cases are coming back? These are two travel gifts with purchase being offered this month by a U.S. company called Lilly Pulitzer (known for their beach/resort/cruise wear).

I love snoopy! I wear snoopy socks in my shoes. They aren't visible when shoes are on, but so cute.

Scratching my bag itch while avoiding the flood of sales advertisements in my inbox:

Please meet "curb couch".

I bought a batch of leather at a fleamarket a while ago. Curb couch at its best sprinkled with wall paint and stained with blue glitter. The price was great and I simply had to grab the challenge.

Here´s the finished product:

Yes, there a a few wrinkles I am not happy about and not all stitches are perfect...

But there´s a bag charm:

And both bags are leather lined. The big one has a bag organizer. I hate making them, but the fit is perfect.

Oh my Gawddddd!
The duo is soooo amazingly beautiful! You're my HERO! I have been wanting to do something like this and I've been collecting leather so that I can.
Was it harder to make the smaller one?

I may have missed it, but what kind of sewing machine, needle, foot, and thread do you use? Or do you hand sew?
Do you have to get the stitches perfect the first time since it's leather?

I’ve enjoyed reading the last 13 pages or so and catching up. We were away last week and i wound up listing and selling a bunch of bags when we returned so its been hectic…… Just submitted another 6 bags to yoogis today for quotes too. I have not popped in here enough, but this thread has provided great motivation for me……after i took stock of how many unused/never carried bags i still have, i’ve been selling at warp speed!

Nov stats
Bags in - 0
Bags out - 14 listed last week & 10 sold in like 5 days
Bag charms in - editing, it was 5 this month
Scarves in - twillies/1 & scarves/3
Bags carried…..need to start tracking this, but maybe 6?

@papertiger , sending hugs and prayers….for strength and healing:heart:

@cowgirlsboots — you are amazing! The vision and creativity and skill. Just wow

@880 , that bundt cake! And your dream closet — its beyond stunning, and was so worth the long wait

On Winter potions for dry skin….i feel for all of you. Since we moved south, it does not really get cold except for a few days here and there. I do not miss the dry winter skin
……but this is what i use and its wonderful……very hydrating! And smells lovely.

Black Friday shopping….we were in Charleston and i was pretty good…..picked up a few things at Savannah Bee (honey, candles, creams — these make nice stocking stuffers), stopped in at LV and they had one Christmas ani charm with the sailboats in stock so i had to…

And i was a little impulsive the week before when AFF sent a sale email…picked up 2 bag charms and 3 scarves i do not need lolol…..

I missed Valentino week so here are my 2 bags. They are both a bit off trend now, but i love rockstuds so these will stay. I can’t carry pink bags, but i can carry this one. It works really well with sundresses, i just love the white rockstuds.

I am a bit nutty about them and need to stop buying so many :whut: Pix below! The AFF ones have not arrived yet or i would do a group pic.

Thank you :hugs:feels good to let go of bags i know i won’t carry….love the rockstuds too:heart:

I can understand why you got them all! They are all so cute!! I especially love the flower charm!

You’re not alone! Here’s a pic of a favorite pair of Rockstud shoes; it’s shown with a Dior WOC that’s also a favorite any time I have to dress up. I bought another pair of Rockstud sandals earlier this year and must own on the order of 10 leather Rockstud bracelets. I may or may not have been seeing what 24S has in terms of those bracelets just earlier today…

Love your rockstuds and Dior bag
@jbags07 , agree that rockstuds never go out of style
@jblended , @papertiger sending you both positive vibes this month! we are all thinking of you here !

. I’ve come to the realization that I enjoy shopping for stress relief - but I hate buying. Buying is stressful. Shopping is letting yourself exist in an attractive space surrounded by pretty or interesting things and people who want you to like them.
this is so insightful…(I could save myself a lot of $ and more importantly, space. I am running out of space)

I love Snoopy too!
Plus, I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not, but my children tell me that I am just like Snoopy.
So there. Now everyone who reads this post will know exactly what I look like!:giggle:
I just saw a young woman wearing the cutest snoopy sweater when I was in London. I saw her in a store and immediately started googling trying to find the sweater online, to no avail. But from what I recall, it was white and fuzzy with a large grey snoopy on front (can't remember if it was just an outline or entire graphic) but it definitely caught my eye and looked so cute and cozy!

Impressive stats, and Rockstuds never go out of style!
@jbags07 I would agree with @DME, I don't think rockstuds are out of style, as I still see many high end women in Palm Beach wearing the shoes and bags. Valentino boutiques are still displaying studs in more recent collections, albeit newer versions sometimes feature different size studs (including the "one stud" which i thought was kind of cool). I have 2 Valentino bags, neither of which has the studs, but I do have 2 pairs of boots with studs featured in what I would consider a non-traditional way: light blue knee-high leather boots with smaller studs along the back and mauve suede ankle boots with regular size studs underneath on the sole. I'll try to post better pics when I have time, as the one I posted quickly with everything lumped together didn't really do them justice.

Shopping my own closet motivated me to trade in my Mansur Gavriel top handle bag for a mini lady bag. I had purchased the top handle bag to try out the vegetable-tanned leather and the domed shaped design with zipper. It was a very light weight bag and served me well. However I have many bags with similar capacity and it was not getting much use. When the opportunity arise, I decided to trade it in for a mini lady bag. The mini lady bag actually fits quite a bit, e.g. LV french purse and sunglasses case. From the reviews, most customers were concerned about the closure and security. I actually found it to be similar to the bucket bag with drawstring closure plus a flap over the opening. Very happy with my first attempt of even exchange - one in one out.

So cute! I'm a sucker for charms! That's almost a bigger obsession than purses for me.
Thank you, me too obviously  It can be such a rabbit hole tho!
Very much a cat person-I have 3..Bianca turns 6 today..she’s a white Balinese, if she were a human , I think she’d be wanting a designer bag!
I’m spending this morning singing Happy Birthday!
In fact here she is with my late navy Tsako, which she loved!
Happy Birthday Bianca 😻🥳
Fantastic job on all your sales!
Thank you :flowers:
Love your pink Valentino!

And congrats on 10 bags out, that’s pretty amazing!
Thank you, and thank you :flowers:

Oh good! Thats great to hear. I’ve wanted to add another and i think i will. I don’t follow influencers really, and should not even entertain what they say about whats in/out, b/c they are all about pushing the latest it bag. Its awesome u see so many bags/shoes still being carried. Your boots sound amazing, please do snap more pix when u have time, would love to see 🥰
