2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.



• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.





So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

October 22 - Michael Kors, Miu Miu

October 29 - Mulberry, Prada

November 5 - Proenza Schouler, Rebecca Minkoff

November 12 - Saint Laurent, Tods

November 19 - Tory Burch, Valentino

November 26 - Bags by Jewelers: Bulgari, Cartier, Tiffany Co, Van Cleef & Arpels. Alternatively, the pillboxes, compacts and other lovelies made by jewelers that fit in your bag.

December 3 - independent artisans and custom bags.

@cowgirlsboots, I wonder if train cases are coming back? These are two travel gifts with purchase being offered this month by a U.S. company called Lilly Pulitzer (known for their beach/resort/cruise wear).

Just popping in to say hi! Sorry, I have so much to catch-up on.

Spoiler: Update on DH

DH will have chemo but not abroad, then major surgery after - and then more rounds of chemo. SIL is coming over next week to help. All in this course of treatment will be exactly 8 months. Strangely (or maybe not strange) DH was understandably in-shock and depressed when first diagnosed then undergoing so many tests in the UK and abroad (it's quite a rare cancer). He's fairly young and super-fit so there is some hope. There will be no Scotland for Christmas/Hogmanay this year, no family/neighbourly gatherings so we're having a big party before the chemo starts next week

I've been using my bags, shopping from my closet for work beyond the usual H work bags, including Gucci Aphrodite, Gucci Punch, H shoppers, YSL Marjorelle and 3 BVs. No major outgoing items but plenty to sort through.

I've fished-out my Bracher Emden clutch for DH's party (see above) as it's suitably Y2K-ish. A neighbour/friend and her two children are getting Baptised - no idea what is suitable (let me know if you know - I've been to baby christenings at CoE church and catholic confirmations, but never adult baptisms).

I've paused searching for the BV lizard Knot I was after, shopping's kind of taken a back seat. I will get one one day.

I've been catching up on this thread and I'm sending healing wishes to your husband and strength to both of you during this difficult time. We are all here to support you

You’re not alone! Here’s a pic of a favorite pair of Rockstud shoes; it’s shown with a Dior WOC that’s also a favorite any time I have to dress up. I bought another pair of Rockstud sandals earlier this year and must own on the order of 10 leather Rockstud bracelets. I may or may not have been seeing what 24S has in terms of those bracelets just earlier today…

Omg i just went looking in my pic folders and i forgot i also bought 2 other bag charms this month
I am a bit nutty about them and need to stop buying so many Pix below! The AFF ones have not arrived yet or i would do a group pic.

ETA: I know vanity cases are (and have been) on trend, but I’m thinking of the bigger ones like my old hard sided Samsonite.

I was thinking of the smaller vanity cases. I remember my mom had a Samsonite similar to the one you might have.

Thank you-I used to own a navy Hermes Tsako, but it wasn’t me so I gifted it as a 98th birthday present to a dear lady!
I used to live in Paris, and shopped in H FSH, I’d like an exotic H, and one day an Horizons bag, but the other bags on my wishlist are a crocodile Laurus and an alligator Boarini Milanesi..❤️

So a very varied collection!

Also, I spy the most adorable stuffed toys on the bed! It's a bit random but, my elderly cat refuses to sleep without his teddy. He'd love yours! (apologies if you're not a cat person!)

Very much a cat person-I have 3..Bianca turns 6 today..she’s a white Balinese, if she were a human , I think she’d be wanting a designer bag!
I’m spending this morning singing Happy Birthday!
In fact here she is with my late navy Tsako, which she loved!

Thank you. It's okay. I got this one, same color as this. But got from the outlet on sale for $120, which seemed like a great price. I also had heard this style of leather was heavy, so decided to try with a smaller bag.

It is pretty, but it looks like the opening could be too tight. I have one that I like the shape of and it is not to heavy, but I don't wear it. Mine has a light colored strap that I am terrified of it getting dirty. I should just wear it and if it gets dirty remove it and wear it with a replacement strap or a guitar strap.

I’ve enjoyed reading the last 13 pages or so and catching up. We were away last week and i wound up listing and selling a bunch of bags when we returned so its been hectic…… Just submitted another 6 bags to yoogis today for quotes too. I have not popped in here enough, but this thread has provided great motivation for me……after i took stock of how many unused/never carried bags i still have, i’ve been selling at warp speed!

Nov stats
Bags in - 0
Bags out - 14 listed last week & 10 sold in like 5 days
Bag charms in - editing, it was 5 this month
Scarves in - twillies/1 & scarves/3
Bags carried…..need to start tracking this, but maybe 6?

On Winter potions for dry skin….i feel for all of you. Since we moved south, it does not really get cold except for a few days here and there. I do not miss the dry winter skin
……but this is what i use and its wonderful……very hydrating! And smells lovely.

Black Friday shopping….we were in Charleston and i was pretty good…..picked up a few things at Savannah Bee (honey, candles, creams — these make nice stocking stuffers), stopped in at LV and they had one Christmas ani charm with the sailboats in stock so i had to…

And i was a little impulsive the week before when AFF sent a sale email…picked up 2 bag charms and 3 scarves i do not need lolol…..

I missed Valentino week so here are my 2 bags. They are both a bit off trend now, but i love rockstuds so these will stay. I can’t carry pink bags, but i can carry this one. It works really well with sundresses, i just love the white rockstuds.
