2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

Thank you everyone! The store opens within the next two weeks. I'm looking forward to creating a healthy, collaborative work environment. I have to say I'm pretty excited.

I bought myself a Coach bag as a reward. It's the Coachtopia Ergo in Mini Checkerboard Upcrafted Leather. I ensured that I purchased the upcrafted leather instead of the bonded stuff. While I'm not thrilled that the lining is Coachtopia leather, I have accepted it. I've been eyeing this piece up for quite sometime. It is supposed to arrive within the next few days. I can't wait.
Congratulations on your new job!

So sorry to hear about your SIL, and sending wishes for recovery and good health. Thank you for the kind words, and yes, self care is very important at all times, but especially when others need care.
Pics of bottles to follow in the next day or so.

This is such a beautiful color! I wonder if painting a free-flowing, delicate motif maybe of leaves or vines and tiny flowers over the color transfer areas will help disguise the color transfer? Definitely not a lost cause, it's lovely!
Thank you for your kind words and wishes. Especially given that you also are experiencing your own family medical issues. Its never easy when family members are ill.

Oohhh i love this idea of painting vines/leaves etc. something that naturally blends. Thank you for this wonderful suggestion :)
Lauren Hutton looks amazing circa 2017 - love that pic!
Thanks for your kind words @jbags07! I hope you enjoy the book.
Doesn’t she?! I love that Bottega included her in the anniversary show…you can watch it on youtube….at the end she had trouble making her final walk due to the shoes, and it was unscripted that the lovely Bella zoomed in and grabbed her arm and walked her down

Thank u for the rec, i am sure i will love the book :)
Found a few of the bottles and decided to take a quick pic with a purse! I have a few more bottles that I will have to find and gather together for another picture.

A new bag is a lovely reward, especially one that's been on your wish list. Would love to see a pic!

I am sending everyone who is not feeling well or caring for someone who is not well, good healing thoughts. I have been dealing with this as well and coming here is my escape. There has been a lot of movement in my bags, because when I am over stressed, I have fun with bags. I tend to buy midrange so as not to mess with my finances. What are ways you cope with stress?

@papertiger support to you and your husband

Like papertiger, I've been using my Gucci Aphrodite too, and for the first time as a crossbody. Still deciding how I feel about it crossbody, but at least it doesn't slip off my shoulder this way. I find the thick, somewhat stiff strap, is a bit prone to slipping off the shoulder, though I usually prefer it as a shoulder bag

It looks amazing on you like this!

For stress, I turn to TPF and Ice cream. I just splurged and bought an expensive ice cream maker. https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/small-things-that-make-you-happy.1026374/page-672

No need to chill freezer canisters for 48 hours before making a favorite treat. Though after about three decades of making it the old way,I might still keep a canister in the freezer as a back up lol. (Choc sorbet and caramel flavors)
other recipe links that destress (I use calories to increase endorphins :)

I wish I could cope with stress by cleaning or exercising like some of you do, but nope

sending positive vibes and best wishes for you all. Hugs

Oh that ice cream maker sounds divine. I too wish I could get in to exercise more. I am just trying to get more steps and paint more. Have you tried getting a set of nice watercolors and some cold press Arches water color paper? It is so calming. The trick is to use really high quality paper and then almost everything looks good.

Thank you! Actually my vanity area is fairly functional looking since I store most of my perfumes in a cupboard, away from heat and light, which helps preserve them better. I do however keep out the scents of the week. Currently I am following a rotation system of about one fragrance every 3 days or so, so roughly 2 to 3 perfumes per week. I keep the scents of the week out, but the rest stay inside.

Like others, coming here and looking at all the pretty things is a stress reliever. Shopping is another, although it brings its own problems, so I am trying to move away from it, not very successfully, I might add. Reading, and organizing/decluttering also helps.

Thank you for your healing thoughts, sending them back to you too :hugs:
Its good to have an escape from things, and tpf is a wonderful place for this. And bags, since we are all bag lovers  i play with scarves too. When stress shopping, like you, i look at mid-range (vintage scarves) so its ok to play w/o overdoing things.

Thank you very much

Homemade ice cream! Sounds wonderful  Tasty and also a creative outlet….experimenting with new flavor combinations sounds like a lot of fun. I like that you can control the ingredients too, making it ‘healthier’. Off to peruse your links!
  • Binging trashy TV shows
  • Reading a book at beach or pool
Also wishing everyone dealing with health issues or loved ones with health issues the best.
Same for me, all of them! For shows tho it will be all of the Star Treks lol.

Oh yes, that makes sense! Sunlight is the enemy lol. Fun tho to rotate the weeks perfumes and view them daily on your vanity. Or just open the door to your perfume cabinet to loose yourself in the beauty  Love that you rotate so u can change things up and enjoy them all.
Today I went through my closet and dropped off a huge bag of clothes at the donation store. Went to the craft store and picked up some supplies to keep me busy and not stressing. Hope you all have a wonderful day. I also ordered a custom bag from Go Forth Goods as they have 30 percent off for another day. Love their bags!
Thats wonderful….donating always feels good, letting go of excess so others can use….and crafts are such great stress relievers too. I wish i could paint as you do, but i do crafty wrapping and packing with stickers and washi tape etc. i wrapped up some gifts for the inlaws (we leave tomro), and its a wonderful stress reliever to tap into our creative side. Hope u have an enjoyable day of painting :flowers:[/url]

Sounds like a perfect day! Thank you for the suggestion of water color to destress! I will try it. I love the good paper too, for when I used to print make

@Purses & Perfumes , fingers crossed the family doctors appointments go well.
