2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

August 20 - Burberry, Celine

Just realized I almost missed Prada week! Haven't been at my house all week but was planning to swing by tomorrow morning and will try to remember to snap photos. When it comes to handbags, Prada is probably one of my favorite brands. Anyone else have any Prada bags to share? Surprised I haven't seen any (unless I simply overlooked the posts). Here are a couple of photos previously shared in the "what handbag are you carrying today" thread that I dug up to share in the meantime.
Love your pretty dresses!

October stats: No changes in the bag collection. It has been a difficult month, dealing with some family health issues. In fact, my bag usage has been abysmal in terms of rotation. At some point in the month, I just relied on a capacious Dooney bag which was helpful for doctor appointments, stuffing paperwork in, and so on, and I just found it easier to not rotate. Hopefully, this month will be better as things settle down. I am however definitely feeling the need for a hard pause in terms of new bag acquisition. My lifestyle at present is more suited to using about 10 bags. The rest are just sitting around. It has more or less been this way since the last few years, post pandemic. So as the year comes to a close, and looking ahead, I could see letting go of a few bags from my collection, but not adding any more purses. The funny thing is, I still have a list in my head of the bags I would like to add, lol. Maybe that never goes away if you love bags.

Glad everything is 'fine'... I often wonder what the human body is thinking. Turn a milestone birth year, blood pressure and cholesterol goes sky high, get dehydrated, and get diarrhea (cuz it makes more sense to lose even more water?), gallstones are just hanging out, suddenly decide all at once and together that it's time to make a fuss.
Seriously!
I hope the surgery goes well!

oh no, this sounds painful.
I hope this procedure gies smoothly and feel better soon!:flowers:
So sorry to hear you are unwell, wishing you a speedy recovery and successful surgery :flowers:

Hope the surgery goes quickly and you have a speedy recovery.

Best wishes on your surgery and recovery.

Thank you all so much! I talk to the surgeon tomorrow. It should be a quick laparascopic procedure, in and out. Fingers crossed!

PSA: Apparently lots of people have gallstones and never have issues. (An ultrasound for something else actually found mine many years ago, and the doctors said to just leave them until there was an issue.) But if you have nausea and dull pain under your ribcage just to the right of your breastbone, go ASAP to an emergency room. Beyond the discomfort, a stone getting stuck can cause infections or other complications.

Wow you have a stunning array of bags. They are all so unique I see why you have trouble deciding. The charms are adorable too.
Thank you for your kind words  so its understandable then why its hard to part with more? I would like to b/c i do feel overwhelmed, i have a lot of bags outside of my BV and premier also. But its so hard…i’ve let go of quite a few already that i was ‘ok’ with letting go.
You have the most amazing BV collection, stunning choices. I adore your Laurens, the Hibiscus Struzzon and especially Gigolo Red.
Thank you so much  I am a little embarrassed at the volume, despite having culled some bags. The Laurens are so classic and so comfy to carry too. The Gigolo Red is my favorite too, not only b/c of the film, but it was so cool when Lauren Hutton walked the runway with it again in 2017, assisted by Bella Hadid:heart:

Sorry to hear about your families health issues. We are also dealing with multiple family health issues….its a physically and emotionally draining situation so i am sending you strength and hugs.
And if u love bags, despite not needing to add any, i do think the desire for new bags rarely leaves us! Which is ok if a new bag can add a spark of joy in the midst of troubles :hugs:

Glad to hear the procedure should be fairly straight forward, hope the appt goes well tomro :flowers:

Oh no, I’m sorry to hear about your family health issues. It can be very hard. I hope things get better as the month progresses. The good thing about bags is they will be waiting when things get better. :hugs:

Thank you, yes, it can be draining. I used to get on purse forum and think I will post in the evenings, but some days I was too tired to even read, let alone write anything! I am sorry you are also dealing with family health issues, and I hope things get better soon.
As for comfort purchases, I have made a lot of those in terms of perfumes this month. I should assemble them and post a pic since the vintage bottles are all so pretty and varied. Not that I needed any of them! As for bags, I still need a zip top bag with two handles plus shoulder strap, since that's the style of bag I used the most this month. But right now the focus in on self care. Getting back into a regimen of exercise, healthy food (I have eaten so much junk food this month!), and meditation, that's the first order of business.
I haven't caught up on the thread properly at all, but just wanted to say your collection is absolutely breathtaking!:flowers: I am going to slowly go back and take it all in over the next day or two.

Dear 880, thank you, it has been difficult, but I am hoping things continue to get better. As you say, the bags will be waiting. I took them all out of their dustbags, and it does give me a lot of pleasure to look at them when I go into the closet. Speaking of closets, did I imagine it, or did you post a picture of your handbag closet as envisioned in your new closet? It looked fabulous, with a sort of curved shelving if I recall correctly. Definitely a dream closet!
Thank you all so much! I talk to the surgeon tomorrow. It should be a quick laparascopic procedure, in and out. Fingers crossed!
Sending lots of positive vibes and good wishes for a quick procedure and swift recovery. I hope you have some help post-procedure at home, and make sure to take it easy until you are fully recovered.:hugs:

You are so smart right now to refocus on self care, to give you the needed strength to tackle everything. The emotional support family members need during medical crises can be very taxing, and taking care of yourself is paramount also, in order to be a support for others.

Thank you for your kind words for my situation :hugs: We leave in a couple of days for a visit with my sil who is battling colorectal cancer at the young age of 50. Thank you also for the lovely words regarding my collection :) i look forward to seeing pix of your perfume acquisitions, the vintage bottles sound beautiful:heart:

Oh no, @jbags07 . im So sorry to hear this. best wishes and thoughts to your SIL. I hope this was caught quickly and can be addressed. Hugs
Thank you @880 :hugs:
I appreciate your support….DH and i have 5 elderly parents, 2 of whom are suffering serious health issues too. He also lost his beloved uncle this past summer. Our 2 year old puppy was diagnosed in july with a horrible neurological disease, and we just lost one of our other beloved pups a few weeks ago. I appreciate the kindness and support found here on tpf, and this thread has been a wonderful place for me to find refuge in this past month, so i cannot thank you enough for inviting me into it 😘

I read in a previous post that you also are experiencing some family medical issues, your mil i believe….i am sending hugs back to you, and hopes and prayers for all of you during this difficult time :flowers:

So sorry to hear about your SIL, and sending wishes for recovery and good health. Thank you for the kind words, and yes, self care is very important at all times, but especially when others need care.
Pics of bottles to follow in the next day or so.
I love this bag……absinthe cervo tote……not sure if a leather repair person can do anything with it tho. A victim of color transfer from one of my brown snakeskin bags . Is it a lost cause?
This is such a beautiful color! I wonder if painting a free-flowing, delicate motif maybe of leaves or vines and tiny flowers over the color transfer areas will help disguise the color transfer? Definitely not a lost cause, it's lovely!

Lauren Hutton looks amazing circa 2017 - love that pic!
Thanks for your kind words @jbags07! I hope you enjoy the book.

Congratulations! :yahoo:

Congrats!

Congratulations on your new job! Best wishes in your next adventure!

Thank you everyone! The store opens within the next two weeks. I'm looking forward to creating a healthy, collaborative work environment. I have to say I'm pretty excited.

I bought myself a Coach bag as a reward. It's the Coachtopia Ergo in Mini Checkerboard Upcrafted Leather. I ensured that I purchased the upcrafted leather instead of the bonded stuff. While I'm not thrilled that the lining is Coachtopia leather, I have accepted it. I've been eyeing this piece up for quite sometime. It is supposed to arrive within the next few days. I can't wait.
