2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

August 13 - Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta

August 20 - Burberry, Celine

August 27 - Coach, Chanel

I am still laughing as i write this. Alas i am indeed a BV bag museum  you have a way with words!
Even posting this today, i felt it was incomplete b/c i’ve let so many pieces go. So you’ve really nailed it. I enjoyed being a museum but now want to shift to some occasional bags and keeping/adding only bags i can carry on a daily basis, just as you said.
Thank u also for your kind words regarding my collection  the acquiring is easy but the letting go is hard. Easier to do when these beautiful bags can be regularly carried and enjoyed like the former Tin Man, who @docride so beautifully reimagined:heart: my BBK recently arrived back from a docride spa and the 1996 box leather looks new

Loving all of your outfits:heart: Ms Peltro looks amazing with that gorg H trench…what a find!
I am getting ready to embark on a lifestyle shift that will include a weightloss effort. I would love to be able to acquire stylish pieces like you have, and be able to enjoy clothes as well as bags. I won’t be so focused on bag shopping either, if i can fit into some nice clothes. I look at the ensembles you put together and its very inspiring. I love that you share all these mod shots😘
We are a mutual admiration society! Thank you
it has taken three years for me to lose weight, thanks to changes in diet, exercise, lifestyle, medication, you name it.
i simply could not have done it without the meds and my endocrinologist is part of Weill Cornell’s weight loss clinic
(i was pre diabetic). it is a lifelong process, and it’s very rewarding . Hugs

Thank you :flowers:
Loops are so soft & comfy yes. I find baseball to be comfy too, i am just not a shoulder bag gal. I prefer hand/arm carry and crossbody. But i have all these amazing shoulder bags , sigh.

Agree its sad they don’t use cervo anymore. And it takes color beautifully. I sold my denim, barolo, and hibiscus. Hibiscus was stunning, if u can find one in this color! I will attach a pic of mine.
Nodinis are the best crossbody….i love the long straps. If u want a great crossbody definitely look! If u want a specific color let me know, i will keep an eye out

If i didnt have so many bags i would pursue it but its on the back burner. I have 2 bv needing linings replaced, and want to spa 2 of my H bags. So those are priority over this. My worry is, with re-dying, would the yummy cervo no longer be soft and supple?

Ooh, gorgeous! My loop is purple.

I took a baseball hobo on a trip as my only bag. I did a lot of walking with a lot of stuff in the bag and my shoulder was just dying. It is so bumpy up at the top that sits on the shoulder. I can wear my loop on vacation no problem. They made a lot more colors in the baseball than in the loop.

I think it depends on the type of dye that is used and how thickly it is applied. I think it is easier to dye pebbled leather than smooth because there probably won't be any visible brush marks. Another option is to have an artist paint a pattern over the stains so the rest of the leather can be left untouched.

That would be my Moynat Gaby in the BB size!
It’s a top handle with a crossbody strap.
It is small but because of the shape can fit quite a bit! Especially the glasses part.
I can fit my 6 ring key holder (with car fob), card holder, sunglasses, cell phone, and a bastia slg with room to spare!

So pretty!
Mulberry small Darley

This is my first Mulberry bag. It can fit two smart phones and it I am using it more often than I had planned. Been eyeing other Mulberry design but don't really need a new bag at the moment.

I bought 2 bags that just came yesterday. I haven't tried them out to decide if I'm keeping them yet. I also bought a down jacket I don't need but the color is gorgeous so I'm glad I got it.

I got a donation pickup of a lot of stuff. I'm glad my garage has some empty space now. I found a few more things to donate after the pickup so the pile is starting again.

I carried 7 bags in October, a lot less than I usually carry in a month. It's because I have an orange purse I generally only carry for Halloween. This year I carried it 11 times.

The brand is called Verafied New York.
It was $250.
I can only compare it to my one other contemporary purse, a polene bag, that was around $430.
For the Verafied New York bag, I can tell that the quality of the leather is not as good. Especially not as substantial feeling and "nice" feeling as the polene bag.
It was shipped from NY and did have this chemical smell. Wrapping not as nice as Polene either.
I'd say the suede is okay (definitely not as amazing as YSL), but what is very obvious (to me) is the quality of the leather shoulder strap. It's definitely cheap leather and sort of stiff and plastic-y. I'm not sure if the coating is just making it more cheap looking/feeling.
But it is two-toned which I think is interesting. The zipper is smooth and easy to pull. I also like the lock closure for the zipper tag. It does make me feel more secure when going about.

I have looooved wearing my loafers! I'm still a heels girl at heart but loafers feel so casual and effortlessly chic at the same time. It's also a great break in between heel wearing so that my heels and feet don't get that beat up haha.

Congratulations on your additions! The bag is cute and the loafers look fabulous, they caught my eye because they are not black.

Oohhhh a purple Loop! BV purples are beautiful.

That seam on the bball handle is what hit you the wrong way….ive not had any issues but i tend to use crossbodies when doing a lot of walking. Bballs were made in a lot more colors, they were produced longer then loops were. They are still really popular too. Yoogis for example offers great buyouts for them, and they sell really fast, especially if they are in good shape. Loops sell fast too. Like u said, that cervo leather

Ok you have some really great ideas regarding the color transfer. There is a bag artist i follow on insta - i want to have my dogs painted onto one of my speedys lol. I could see what she thinks about painting something on this one too. Thank u for the idea!

Everything's fine. Gallstones that were happily hanging out, doing no harm, decided to make a break for it. Since they're not going to behave, they're all getting evicted en masse sometime this month. My first surgery where the doctors will be speaking German - whee!

*who am I kidding, they will all speak flawless English which they will break into the moment they hear my awful German.

ETA Thank you for asking! :flowers:
Best wishes on your surgery and recovery.

Your Mulberrys are beautiful, they are all such classics

Wow, i agree with everyone who said take the Gucci in to the store, thats way too much wear
Definitely buy an inexpensive flap. I jumped in and purchased Chanel and Dior flaps and rarely carry them, i find the flap too fussy and hard to get in/out of. Some love flaps tho, and u might fall into that category. Rebecca Minkoff has a cute Chanel look alike flap.

Your last paragraph is SO true. I’ve purchased so many bags after seeing them here, that did/do not work for me.

Love these, such classics:heart: i wanted a Pallas and waited too long, it was so disappointing when they discontinued that style. Such a great bag!

Wow…. Your stats are amazing! Thats incredible. 965 items out!

So sorry to hear you are unwell, wishing you a speedy recovery and successful surgery :flowers:
Thank you for the Mulberry love.
