2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

Too late to edit my above post and tpf still won't upload my pics, so I have to resort to linking out to show my new additions: click me. Mine are ocean blue and black; can't find the exact colours online because mine are preloved and must be several years old now. I'll post mod shots at some point down the line. They're so squishy and soft.
Oh, that´s a beautiful bag design! I agree, slightly reminiscent of the Glam Slam, but more casual and to me honestly looking like higher quality. I only ever saw the first version of the Glam Slam in person and these bags didn´t have a proper lining.
Well done! I´m looking forward to your mug shots!

October Stats

I guess I´ve been a good girl last month:
lusted after no new bags at all and only bought one on a whim at a fleamarket. Sorry, the photo is a little blurry! The clutch has a fairly massive gold chain - here folded inside on its hinges- too.

No bags out
No slgs in or out

My most worn bags in October were the "Big Imposter" (because it´s a nice roomy travel bag I do not have to be careful with), my red Dior Gaucho and to my own amazement "Miss Piggy", my small me-made from utterly awful split pigskin.

Had to go pick stuff up at the consignment shop that didn’t sell. Feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the stuff in my closet. It all fits, but I prefer more open spots. So I listed a bunch of stuff. With holidays coming I really want to clear more space. Give me your best tip on getting rid of clutter.
Clutter is my middle name...
My short term solution for clearing space are suitcases: put everything I do not need right now and want to keep into suitcases (sorted and labelled) and stack them.

I’ve tried that before.

But you need an excellent memory or a superb inventory system. Because now I have 5 scarves, a flap bag, 8 unframed Japanese woodblocks, and 6 brooches in a frame that are “somewhere safe”. And that’s just the things that I remember and are nagging at me

My DD is 16 and she also has no interest in bags. She can’t possibly be my kid! But maybe there’s hope, based on what you wrote about your older DD. When my bag-loving friends hear DD has zero interest, they start putting down markers on my bags since they figure I could will those to them instead.
I can totally relate but assume they'll grow out of it at some age. I jokingly told her best friend I was leaving her my forest green suede Jimmy Choo hobo bc it's her favorite color and they looked at me like I was crazy. Meanwhile, the girl's mom wants to go shopping in my closet! Lol

Oh, "somewhere safe" is my enemy no1! I stored some velvet leftovers in this ominous place and can´t find them, even though I turned all the possible hiding spots upside down... where would you be if you were red crushed 70ies velvet leftovers in a very safe place? Haha!
For my usual things I rely on packing lists taped on my suitcases- to the visible front or they wouldn´t be helpful when the suitcases are stacked.

Hmmm. Usually my “somewhere safe” is whatever was most obvious and easy to find at the time I put it away.

At the time you stored the velvet, did you have any similar fabric you might have put it next to, or open table space?

Oddly enough, after almost two years of looking, I found my woodblocks today. When I cleared out The Cottage, I donated my bookshelves. So I’ve had six boxes of books without a good place to store them. I went through them today. And there they were - a small bundle of unframed prints, loosely stored on top of the books. I had an inventory list on the box, but I forgot what MMP/Wood meant

I am glad you found them.

My big mistake was to store this remnant away and then sort all my fabric remnants the next day. I even packed a duffel full of velvet fabrics- checked it, but what I´m looking for isn´t in there, neither is it in any of my newly organized other bags... it wasn´t in the bin bag of fabric remnants I threw out, either. (Checked this one before actually disposing of it.)
So the somewhere safe must have been carefully chosen- if I only remembered. One day I´ll find my velvet, I´m sure!

Congratulations on finding your prints!

Forgetting what a description on an inventory list means sounds like me. So I always try to be very descriptive. For example my shoe boxes say things like: black, too high heel, scratched, bought in xyz and there usually is a sketch.

BTW: open table space is very unlikely to be available in my world...

Years ago I sold a Coach keychain that was brand new. It had a tiny metal hangtag about 1/2 inch long (1.5 cm) that somehow fell off. I couldn't find it anywhere. A few weeks ago, in packing up things in preparation for painting, I found it. I almost vacuumed it up until I decided to take a closer look. It's unbelievable that it was there. I know it was from this particular keychain because it is pink.

Most of the time I can't remember what I put away so I wouldn't even know to look for it.
