2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

Thank you for sharing insights on your favouites and most used bags. Your storage system is gorgeous, all of those colours and leathers!
Thank you for your kind words and for letting me share  I was excited when i found that inexpensive rack system at ikea, b/c it so perfect for storing hobo/tote bags! Which can be tricky b/c they take up a lot of space w/o it.
I’m 51 and I think @stacy_natalie might have just turned 50 based on her posts? So if you’re about that age… It‘s no wonder we have so much in common!
Same range but i am a tad older, i turned 53 last month….but close enough :)
Hi guys, you'll be happy to know I have been using my Gucci Aphrodite and Saint Laurent Majorelle aplenty.

I'm going to take a little break from tPF to support DH in another country for a few weeks.

Just to leave you with I have outed 4 vintage bags this month, the most I have ever done.

Best wishes, and see you soon.
Safe travels Papertiger, sending warm wishes for DH and his speedy recovery!
Yes, just turned 50 last month. Wonder woman underoos rocked!
Happy belated birthday :) my birthday was last month too!

And in another OMG moment… I had the black version of the bag on the right in the third photo. I recently passed that on to my niece. It was a gift from an aunt and uncle for my college graduation back in 1996. I didn’t save off a photo, or I would share.
OK, just reread my post and realized I don’t even remember when I did what anymore!? High school graduation was 1990, college 1994 and grad school 1996. Guess I just wanted to shave two years off my age. Can you blame me for trying?

We are so close here too, and i needed to think also  maybe i can shave 2 years off since i took a hiatus?

High school - 1988, college - 1994 (i lost my mom sophomore year and took time off which put me on your schedule), and grad school also was 1996 ……

@papertiger support to you and your husband

Like papertiger, I've been using my Gucci Aphrodite too, and for the first time as a crossbody. Still deciding how I feel about it crossbody, but at least it doesn't slip off my shoulder this way. I find the thick, somewhat stiff strap, is a bit prone to slipping off the shoulder, though I usually prefer it as a shoulder bag

Its absolutely stunning imo. I love the color

I think a lot of folks would have trouble wearing it crossbody - i am very short waisted and very busty and it would look horrible on me:lol:

With your figure, and this beautiful long sweater, it looks fabulous on you:love: its a fantastic look!

It looks beautiful that way! I love that color against your white sweater.

Thank you! I thought I might be looking a little dopey, so I'm glad you guys don't think so.

I agree I think overall I prefer the shoulder look for this bag BUT this definitely doesn't look bad on you. As others said, you have pulled off the crossbody with this outfit. Did this come with the strap "extender" to make longer/ crossbody?

Also, I know this is random, but I really want to share my neighbors' Halloween decorations. We have those neighbors who go all out every Halloween and Christmas, and I love it!

Our neighbors across the street have also put up a huge skeleton, that is underlit by a different color each night. I didn't get a great picture, but you get the idea

We only have a little 3' tall inflatable pumpkin, so we're quite undermatched. But we do give out candy each year and dress up (well, husband excluded, big ole humbug) each year. In a reach to a connection to handbags, I was once again tempted by the Coach Halloween basket. Didn't get it, but if I had, would have definitely taken it trick-or-treating. I love going, and am not sure where I'm going to find the excuse to go once the kids are bigger!

But I've been resisting everything successfully. I haven't bought a bag in 4 months now and it's given me time to think how I want to use my little remaining space. Think, but still not come to a conclusion.

I graduated high school 1991 and college 1995. So we so had the same underoos AND the same first Gucci bag around same time. Too funny!

P.s. Sorry to hear about your mom. I lost mine 10 years ago. Can't imagine how rough that would be for a teenage girl. My youngest daughter is currently a junior and we're like BFF.

Thanks. Yes, it comes with two extenders. This is the longer one to make a crossbody, on the shortest setting. I'm 5'2" (157cm) for reference. There's a shorter strap extender that I usually use for shoulder carry. You could use no extender at all, but then it's too close under my armpit for me, and seems to slip even more. This is the first time I've used this longer extender.

I didn't realize you were so petite. I'm 5 ft and totally thought you were much taller from that photo!

How fun... Halloween is my favorite holiday! I don't think you're ever too old to dress up! There were a few years I was lucky enough that my daughter(s) even allowed me to coordinate with their costumes. What do you and your kids be dressing up as this year?

Isn't Halloween a blast?! I love the corn mazes, the hay rides through fun-spooky decorated forests, the fright fests at amusement parks, the costumes! Are you dressing up? I absolutely agree there's no age limit to dressing up, but I'm not sure I can go trick or treating at my big age without children. :giggle: I usually wear my same costume for 2 or 3 years. I bought a witch costume last year, so that's what I'll be again this year. And my daughter will be a witch, too. Training her up in the magical arts! My son is Miles Morales, one of the spider folk in the spiderverse (the black and Puerto Rican Spiderman). .. Oh, when I went to find a picture of my costume from last year, I saw the pic was from 2 years ago and this will actually be the 3rd year wearing it! Hmm, that means I am justified in being something new if I want. (gosh, I see I found the energy to blow out and braid my own hair with beads that year. It's hard to imagine finding that energy at the moment). From 2 years ago:
