2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

Isn't Halloween a blast?! I love the corn mazes, the hay rides through fun-spooky decorated forests, the fright fests at amusement parks, the costumes! Are you dressing up? I absolutely agree there's no age limit to dressing up, but I'm not sure I can go trick or treating at my big age without children. :giggle: I usually wear my same costume for 2 or 3 years. I bought a witch costume last year, so that's what I'll be again this year. And my daughter will be a witch, too. Training her up in the magical arts! My son is Miles Morales, one of the spider folk in the spiderverse (the black and Puerto Rican Spiderman). .. Oh, when I went to find a picture of my costume from last year, I saw the pic was from 2 years ago and this will actually be the 3rd year wearing it! Hmm, that means I am justified in being something new if I want. (gosh, I see I found the energy to blow out and braid my own hair with beads that year. It's hard to imagine finding that energy at the moment). From 2 years ago:

Adorable! I hear you re no energy....I have crafted/concocted costumes in the past but plenty of store bought too and usually wore those a couple times and have even worn hand me down costumes from my daughter a couple of times (boxer and referee).

My girls are 7+ years apart so it was fun when things came full circle. For example, when my oldest daughter (blonde) was in middle school she was a tween Alice in wonderland, i was queen of hearts and my other daughter preschool age was a tea-party princess with a mad hatter vibe. Years later when the younger one was in middle school, I revived the queen of hearts costume, made her best friend who's blonde an Alice costume and made my daughter the white rabbit.

I once found a red dress with white polka-dots at a thrift shop so I was Minnie mouse when each of them was young. My favorite was I dream of Jeannie and one year I was 8 months pregnant with my belly sticking out! Lol I was catwoman (Halle berry version) a couple times and then used the face mask and whip as accessories another year for my little daughter when we were all villains (I made myself a poison Ivy costume, older daughter was harley Quinn and her high school boyfriend at time the joker from suicide squad movie). I was a different harley Quinn another year even though I'm not blonde, I wore pigtails and did a really cool makeup job. I was Medusa a couple of times donning a goddess costume with home made snake headpiece and accessories. Last year was my 2nd time in recent years being Wednesday Addams wearing a dress i happen to actually own that resembles hers.

Sorry for rambling but have I mentioned I love Halloween?! ❤️ Haven't had time to think about this year and not sure what I'll be able to pull off last minute but I've always wanted to be Wonder Woman, Dorothy, or Princess Leia bc I have the perfect hair for those. Another one I thought I might be able to whip together last minute could be Audrey hepburn/holly go lightly character from breakfast at Tiffany's. Also think circus ringmaster could be fun. Any suggestions?

Oh, do Wonder Woman! She's so cool! You have to be thoughtful with some costumes because it's usually cold during Halloween, but I've had good luck wearing black tights and/or bodysuits under whatever costume and it still looks pretty cool.

Also, I know this is random, but I really want to share my neighbors' Halloween decorations. We have those neighbors who go all out every Halloween and Christmas, and I love it!

Our neighbors across the street have also put up a huge skeleton, that is underlit by a different color each night. I didn't get a great picture, but you get the idea

We only have a little 3' tall inflatable pumpkin, so we're quite undermatched. But we do give out candy each year and dress up (well, husband excluded, big ole humbug) each year. In a reach to a connection to handbags, I was once again tempted by the Coach Halloween basket. Didn't get it, but if I had, would have definitely taken it trick-or-treating. I love going, and am not sure where I'm going to find the excuse to go once the kids are bigger!

But I've been resisting everything successfully. I haven't bought a bag in 4 months now and it's given me time to think how I want to use my little remaining space. Think, but still not come to a conclusion.
I love the decorations. My neighbor has a skeleton like that too. My son put a spider web up on our house that reaches to the roof and orange lights and some other things. That coach bucket is adorable, but very limited wear.

Hi everybody! I haven't been around much in the past few months. I have plenty of catching up to do in this thread. I can't wait to see what everybody has been doing and what gorgeous goodies you've been posting!

The months feel like they've been blending together. I'm busy continuing to learn ASL ; however, I feel like I'm not where I want to be in proficiency. I was signing to someone and I accidentally signed 'hungry' instead of 'tired' - the learning curve is tough but I'm doing my best! I think I need to relax more before I sign. I can't wait to be at a place where I feel more confident in my ability to sign.

As for work, I have an interview on Wednesday. While I've had a few interviews nothing has really come of it. I'm sure the right opportunity will come along... perhaps this job on Wednesday will be it. It's within walking distance too.

Some incredible news... I'm in love again. I mean, I've been in love for the past year but I'm noticing that I continue to BE in love with him. He's so funny and cute and I'm smitten like a schoolgirl ( at twenty-six, no less!) I hope everyone gets to experience this kind of love in their lives whether it be platonic or romantic. I hope this lasts. I've wanted this kind of stability for the longest time. I'm terrified but thrilled. Yes, it's with the same older man.

All in all I'm doing okay.
I GOT THE JOB!! ✨

I have this cute Marc jacobs tote. It just doesn’t get worn. I love the size , but just don’t wear it. I wish it did not have writing on the side. Do you have a bag you like except for one thing about it?
Is the writing on both sides? I would turn it around if the other side was blank. I'm not a fan of this sort of text on bags (weird because I don't mind hardware or patterned leather). It's a cute tote!

I have had lots of bags where there was just one thing that was off ; usually it's an annoying closure that gets to me.

I was literally going to say the same thing! I have some bags with a different "back" side that I sometimes carry with that side showing up avoid obvious/large logo, etc.
