2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

When I was buying my leather jacket some years ago, I was planning to get a moto jacket, but the SA steered me towards a different style leather jacket with no collar. Perhaps she thought the moto jacket was too edgy a style for me? I have often wondered, and wish I had asked her. Anyway, today, I actually think the style of leather jacket I like the most is one with a collar and more of a blazer style. Do you have a specific style you like? It's interesting how each style of leather jacket has a vibe of its own.

I'm with you, love a chunky sweater, even though they do occupy a lot of space in the closet. That's a very chic combo -- sleek leather pants and chunky sweater (like a Fisherman sweater).

It does sound like a great find! I would check J Crew as the season progresses. I've bought nice, wool coats that are substantial and warm, and not light weight from them in the past (I still have them and use them). A lot of stores, both online and brick and mortar, are just starting to put out their coats and jackets in anticipation of the fall season, so I would keep on the lookout as the summer winds down, and more options are offered.
I have a grey cafe racer(collarless one) too, but prefer a moto one-the asymmetric style hides the fact that I have no bust and suits my body type best..my other 3 are biker style although I love all of them ..

For work, blazer style. More traditional moto style for weekends/casual.

Question for everyone -- what is your favorite item of outerwear, when it comes to fall fashion? Mine is definitely a wool blazer or coat. I have enough and more of them to take me through the entire season. In fact, I need to plan more outings in order to give them an airing.
I love, love, love a leather jacket for fall! And a collarless one is my preference. I have an ancient tan Michael Kors from Nordstrom Rack, back when they carried real leather (everything is faux, or vegan, now). I found a black one at the Coach outlet a few years ago and snapped it up as quick as I could. Outside of premier designer, it’s almost impossible to find real leather anymore, which is unfortunate.

I had no idea real leather jackets were so difficult to find! I'm glad I got mine when I did. I actually remember trying on some Michael Kors tan jackets at N Rack some years ago, and liking the color.

That’s probably true-all of mine are bespoke, one by Wearwolf in the U.K., in Japanese calf, the others by No, No, Yes! Leather Tailor in Japan who work by sending toiles and using photographs.
Prior to that I used General Leather Company for bespoke who made for Jasper Conran etc.
Everything on the high street is pu.

I like collarless jackets too. I had a beautiful dark brown suede one in a boxy cut that I lost on a night out with friends years ago. It was Nicole Farhi and someone stole it from beside me. I’m still gutted about it, even now.

I still have a Micheal Kors Moto leather jacket too. The leather is butter soft. I love leather jackets too.
